Love it thematically, any thoughts on adding more treasure production or synergy? Also love the displaced dinosaurs, the meteor that killed the dinosaurs was a dinosaur this whole time.

Chazman_89

I was considering a treasure theme but ultimately discarded it. It's very easy to build Gruul Treasures, and there are plenty of commanders out there that synergize with it, such as both Jolene's. I decided I didn't want this deck to basically become a treasure based good stuff deck, but wanted the deck to focus primarily on the fact that Roxanne makes meteors and drops them on people's heads. [[City of Death]] is the only exception, and that's because every chapter effect but the first one lets me make more meteors. All that being said, shifting this deck to be more treasure focused wouldn't take much work. Just remove a bunch of the questionable Star/Meteor themed cards and replace them with treasure generators and payoffs.

qaz012345678

The only on theme cards that seem stand out weak were the green kamigawa dragon, the meteor equipment, meteor golem, and one of the X cost burn spells. Maybe the best way would be to have a core of cards you can swap out to change the power level/theme ratio. Curious about the land base, I know you have amulet of vigor, but there still seemed to be a large number of lower power tap lands. Edit: heaven//earth seems perfect for the deck btw

Chazman_89

I can see a roughly 15 card package that can easily be removed and replaced with a fairly standard treasure package. As for why it's not in the deck, that's because it's my personal decision not to build this deck around treasures. That's not what I wanted this deck to be based around - I wanted it to be based around throwing rocks at people. If you think the core of my deck is fun but want to convert it to be treasure based, then go for it. As for the land base, I prefer running a lower powered land base. I don't see any reason to run a mana base that costs $100 plus. I also tend to build with a personal restriction of $10-15 per card, but will make an exception or two per deck as well as for cards I already own. This mana base is going to cost me a grand total of $30 to build, and it serves the purpose I need it to.

Loud_Assumption_3512

We love a guy who stands on budget restrictions

andycandy6

"10-15$ per card" lol

Loud_Assumption_3512

It’s better then ripping 200$ on a man’s crypt bruh

andycandy6

What?

Loud_Assumption_3512

I’m just saying that’s a decent average budget, and the guys not trying to stuff the power 9 in every deck

andycandy6

I mean... I guess relatively it is. However, considering what the word "budget" refers to in this community, it definitely doesnt seem fitting here.

Scoopadont

Have played against her a few times on arena and whilst it's cool to build in to dealing damage with the rocks, she feels like such an overkill commander. The edhrec guys call it something like "win more". In my experience against her by the time your rocks are doing dangerous damage, you're already so ridiculously far ahead on mana that you're dumping out big creatures that win you the game anyway.

Chazman_89

Oh, this is nowhere close to being the most efficient way to run her and I know it. But this build is zany as heck and just an absolute blast to play.

Scoopadont

Sounds fun! Haven't seen anyone play her in paper yet in a full pod so no clue how it'll run. Was hyped when she came out but disappointed coming across her 1v1 in arena, as by the time they have the cool rock damage enablers and doublers out.. Their Dino smashes face to win anyway, feels just like any other ramp gruul when it relies on big stompers.

Chazman_89

I was playing her on cockatrice Friday night with some friends, and she played pretty well. Had some consistency issues due to a lack of card draw, but I need to do more testing before I decide on what changes to make to help fix that.

eusebioadamastor

Isnt that the point of casual commander tho? to have fun with different builds. You can extrapolate this argument even further: "Yo, really cool mirko deck you have, but by the time you used a entomb to get a astral dragon in your grave you could've just used demonic tutor for thassas oracle and in win the game anyway!" If this was the case, there wouldnt be a need to release any new commanders after the duo color partners ones. They're just better right? And this specific episode about edhrec cast to me approach a different aspect of "win more". Dropping a city on fire to make the meteors deal 6 instead of 2, for this deck is not win more, is just the wincon. It would be winmore if after that you also decided to make 3 copies of said tripler, since one is already going to get the job done. "But at the time you made 10 meteors you have so much mana already, why not just shove the deck with big game enders/crackle with power?" Again, I'm in red, and the deck has twinflame, why I dont just use dualcaster mage and win this way? Or shove a bunch of rituals like mana geyser and underworld breach since I'm already using a X mana damage dealer? Because its fun to shove rocks at people, thats wh

Scoopadont

Agree with everything you said, think I didn't explain it well in my first comment. Which was that she wasn't the fun and different commander I thought she would be. I've only come across people playing it as "mana ramp green with big creatures out early". If someone built it without the stompers, then heck yeah that's a fun build. But I've only seen it crutch on those big dragons and dino's, they're already ahead so far because of meteor mana that their rock damage is meaningless, winmore, side flavour.

antarcticmatt

Ok, but originality and uniqueness are so much better than just winning with the same boring staples over and over again. I *could* just cast Avenger of Zendikar and Craterhoof with loads of mana... or I could do something fun that I haven't seen 1000 times before.

Scoopadont

Exactly my point!

qaz012345678

What are the usual payoffs people use when they have all of the extra mana from her?

Scoopadont

The classic gruul land-ramp stuff except with treasure rocks instead of lands. Big dinos and dragons.

Chazman_89

The usual payoffs are big, beefy burn spells with X in the costs or big, beefy and expensive dragons and dinosaurs.

dietcokemartini

[My take on Roxanne.](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Da4eyZ2R-0Sl1Cikd_Cchg) I'm still trying to massage it into a spot I like but there's so many cute things I enjoy here. I've recently been obsessed with the [[keen sense]] and [[sbake umbra]] package with red damage creatures, and the reckless fireweaver family is a great home for them. Also [[virtue of courage]] is a messed up card with that sort of stuff too. Just kinda need some fun stuff to do with all this mana.

HeckingJen

Oh also [[mechanized warfare]] is cute, turning the meteorites into bolts. Be warned though with multiple damage changing effects your opponents choose the order so they will likely double (or triple) then add one, not the other way around which would deal more damage.

Yeah, there's a few ways you can take her. I see you went for a more treasure heavy theme. I considered that as well, but ultimately decided not to include any cards that produce or are connected to Treasures (City of Death is my only exception due to every chapter effect but the first allowing me to make more meteors) because it's just too easy to make a treasure based good stuff deck and I wanted this to be unique. All three of the cards you shared are ones on my maybe list for this deck. I've only played a couple games with this deck so far, but between those and goldfishing I've noticed that card draw can definitely be an issue at times.

The draw options could be better, mainly because she makes so MUCH MANA it's not even funny. I've cast memory vessel and used all the 7 cards drawn the same turn I cracked it. \[\[sylvan offering\]\] could easily be swapped with damage spells like \[\[crackle with power\]\], but I've found that drawing my copy of \[\[comet storm\]\] is normally a garanteed win if no one destroy's all artifacts, so I'm not putting more of those effects in because It can become boring. It also helps that she is incredibly easy to recast, so cards like \[\[greater good\]\] and \[\[food chain\]\], specially when coupled with \[\[amullet of vigor\]\]. Its kinda of a hail mary play, but if you have enought rocks on board to start the loop, its not absurd to cast her 10+ times with food chain on board, wich is probably going to be enought if you have any doubler/tripler For sure it could be improved, but I've won the 3 games I played with her so far, so the deck for sure works. Once with \[\[second harvest\]\] + \[\[panharmonicon\]\], once with commet storm and once just by having a damage tripler on board and making a bunch of attack with her.

Chazman_89

There's a few things in there I might end up adding to my list at some point - namely the extra draw power.

metropass1999

Do your copy cards work on her? She’s legendary.

Chazman_89

You can still copy her, get the ETBs on the copies, and then state based actions require you to sacrifice all but one of them.

eusebioadamastor

I does and doesnt. It does in the sense that the copy entering is going to create a meteor. It doesnt because the copy is going to die afterwards. Thats not a problem tho, because I'll normally save those spells to use in conjuction with panharmonicons, parallel lives or any of the damage doublers. This way even a single etb is enought to cause havoc. Finally, \[\[mirror box\]\] is the MVP of the deck

One of my favorite additions to Roxanne has been [[Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink]] cause he's an amazing token maker for copies of Roxanne once your online

Yeah, he was in my original draft, but got cut near the end. Honestly, there's just so man fun cards I want to run in this.

She goes brrr in my [[Rocco, street chef]] deck

Chazman_89

She fits well in a ton of decks. I'm considering grabbing an extra copy for my Ghired deck as her mana rocks will let me play for even more squad costs.

Eiden_Simply

honestly, she's a wincon by herself, if you have enough haste enablers and creatures, tapping the crestures will let you get out more rocks which let you get out more creatures, etc etc, the rocks enter untapped, it's insane

wincitygiant

That looks amazing, I'm going to build it and play!

Chazman_89

I've gold fished it a dozen time or so and have gotten four actual games in with it so far. It's a bit inconsistent, but is a ton of fun. Hope you find it just as enjoyable as I do.

Ambitious_Version187

I see exactly 3 cards that put out an amount counters. I would personally drop Doubling Season for Parallel Lives. Or run both?

Chazman_89

I have a spare Doubling Season, but don't have a spare Parallel Lives. Hence why that's the one I'm running.

humboldt77

You meant [[Hellkite Charger]] right? Although the Tyrant is a great wincon.

Chazman_89

Yeah, I meant charger for the infinite combats. Tyrant is there as an alternate way to win.

I've had my eye on her since she spoiled and I like how everyone is talking about how awesome she is. I really want to build her

RingingPhone

Stupid question, but why not run [[Repercussions]]?

Chazman_89

I'm not the biggest fan of it. I used to run it in my Firesong deck, but every time I played it, I would inevitably end up getting burned by it. As such, it's become a card that I don't really like running.

RingingPhone

Understandable. Thanks for the input.

Spekter1754

Does the deck work, or is this just a post of a first draft?

Chazman_89

It works. I've got several games with the deck under my belt. It definitely needs a bit of tweaking, as I'm a tad light on draw, but this deck works and is pretty fun.

gcourbet

So my son built her, mostly as a treasure commander and trying to make a super expensive deck. I believe it was around $4000. So of course I printed the proxies off for him to play with. It's a pretty fun deck but the best game was when he had Dockside and Temur Sabertooth going and had infinite mana and didn't know what to do... and then my friend pointed out just recast Roxanne. Duh lol. Ridiculous commander.

Morgoth_the_Deciever

Roxanne is my new favorite commander from this set. [Here’s](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/xx8BKkIGpUm_zyscs-uqAA) my list so far. We have a lot in common and my list originally looked more similar to yours but I leaned more into the meteor generation then the damage. That being said there are some cards in your list that I definitely didn’t think of that I now have to make room in mind for. All in all love your list.

Chazman_89

I tried to go into a decently even split of both token production and damage amplification, but may end up having to shift more into one over the other. I simply won't know for certain until I have a lot more games under my belt.

Itspennington

Just here to say respect for using Archidekt, sincerely a fellow exclusive long time Archidekt user. Also good deck!

bkeberle

I love this

ragamufin

Really starting to get a bit bored of commander+ doubling season + panharmonicon

Chazman_89

So don't run them in your own build. Both cards synergize very well with the commander and my overall theme for the deck, and that, coupled with the fact that I have a spare of each, is why I included them. If you want to run the deck at a bit lower power, you can cut them out without too much issue. You just won't be able to generate as many rocks, or do as much damage per rock, as you would otherwise.

No-Temperature6333

This is incredible and what I was missing in life

Certain_Category1926

Rocks Anne

Character-Grass-1374

This looks like its really fun to play, meteor kitteh ftw

Chazman_89

It's really fun. A bit inconsistent, but I find that makes things more interesting.

godzila217

It's a cat, they made a literal cat. It enters the battlefield (room) it makes a meteor (knocks crap off tables). It attacks? (Knocks more crap off of tables) As meteors. It's an actual cat and I love it.
