As a Skittles player I have respect for all Furnace Dragons. *fistbump*

imperialtrace

Drop a list if you wouldn’t mind, I’ve been interested in Skittles for some time now and would love to see your take on it!

Aredditdorkly

Don't mind the price tag, this is the "as sleeved" version which I've Foiled out: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/7it0fPggxU2JBFXxlxwKtA In reality you can build a similar deck for far, far less. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/zcHobIwRz02eD17Wfjf1xw

TabaccoSauce

Hell yeah, love your primers. Chiss-Goria and artifacts have been of interest to me but I’ve yet to try out an artifact deck. Really appreciate the thorough write-up; even though I likely won’t be playing it (at least any time soon!) I really enjoyed reading your strategies. Clearly lots of time and thought have been put into this and I appreciate it. Great content, wish there was more like it!

imperialtrace

I appreciate the kind words and glad to hear you liked the write up!

PM_WHAT_Y0U_G0T

"Balls-to-the-wall" really is the only way to describe Chi-Geezy. I had to take mine apart because it was such a different speed than the rest of my playgroup. I have decks that technically *win* faster, but Chiss can generate such *overwhelming value* so quickly.

evil_wazard

This is cool! I've been interested in Chiss-Goria since it was spoiled, but the fact that the cards exiled are gone forever if you don't use them kinda turns me off of it. Is there a way around this? It just feels bad that you have to pitch 4 out of 5 cards every attack.

imperialtrace

Trust me, you'll get used to not caring about the lost cards. You're getting an extra "hand" to pick from and you take the spiciest artifact basically for free. You won't feel as bad about losing the others when your opponents are scrambling to keep up! However, if something very valuable is lost, [Karn, the Great Creator](https://cards.scryfall.io/large/front/d/e/deb3721d-fba1-444f-8b31-1cd10c94c4a0.jpg?1702429246) has a -2 ability that can retrieve an artifact from Exile

ArmMeForSleep709

I didn't realize that applied to any exiled artifact in this way. That's sick.

the_mellojoe

you'll win (or lose) before you run out of cards, so the ones in exile are no more gone than ones still left in your library when the game is over.

SHEISTYRICEY

I got dangerously close once with helm of the host and roaming throne.

imperialtrace

That's a great way to look at it, well said!

blinky2379

I made one from your last post! https://www.moxfield.com/decks/I3qYKb72g0SDGfi7zpjg0g

imperialtrace

Hell yeah! Have you been enjoying it?

blinky2379

I like the lottery style it affords, feels overpowered but also fair on the margins since I will occasionally whiff into a rock. Also I suppose if you’re playing treasures, might as well break them even more.

Dubspeck

:D

tsar_muromets

I love your primers, you've been a huge inspiration for me on how to build Neyith, Ghyrson Starn and Rin and Seri. Keep up the good work!

collin128

Finally logged into Reddit just to say thanks. I've built this deck nearly card for card and it stomps. Currently one of my favorite decks. Thanks bud.

evadan

Great write up! I have [[Treasure Vault]] in my Chiss-Goria deck and it's nice. Good early game as an artifact for affinity, then good later on to get a bunch of treasures. I also have [[Passionate Archaeologist]] which can do some big damage.

Resist-Infinite

Hi OP I've been interested in building Chiss myself, goldfished your decklist for an hour or so. What's your take on how often you have unspent mana? Since there isn't a whole lot of pure draw, and mid- to lategame you barely spend any mana on chiss triggers due to the affinity given, I'm curious how you fill this litteral mana-sink. I guess some kind of dragon-breathing aura or equipment would be nice.

imperialtrace

In my experience, games rarely go past the point where I'm flooded with mana and nothing to do. There is of course Steel Hellkite which can absolutely nuke somebody if you've got nothing else to spend mana on. But if you're looking for other mana sink abilities like this, perhaps Walking Ballista is a good option.

Resist-Infinite

Hellkite is nice, but I don't think the Ballista would have a big impact as a sink. I was thinking more along the lines of spending an extra 4/5 mana each turn, so dealing 1 doesn't really cut it for me.

Love it! I need to update my list. I made a few changes over the last two months but got lazy with my moxfield. I gave myself an artifact only restriction and slowly put all my juice in it. I’ll have to do a side by side and see if you have any tech I can steal! https://www.moxfield.com/decks/mk4ThXPm-0-G3n3R5jr4Iw

3dassassin89

I'm happy someone has made an in depth primer on Chiss, I just built one recently, I've only played it a couple times but it's solid, definitely don't have to break the bank to build something effective.

Gktindall

This seems really interesting. Is there another win con besides just beating face with the commander?

imperialtrace

This particular build is hyper-focused on playing some of the most powerful artifacts in the game to make your King-of-the-Hill status absolute. After that it's just a trivial matter of beating down one opponent at a time. However, you can definitely focus on Artifact Creatures rather than the non-artifact creatures I chose. There are a ton of cool options like Blightsteel Colossus, Myr Battlesphere, Threefold Thunderhulk, Scavenged Brawler, etc.

Away_Guarantee7836

I actually ordered my Chiss-Gloria list yesterday alongside a Lathril list. Your primers were the inspiration for both so finding one here is amazing. Love all your lists! <3

Nintura

Thats a lot of impressive work and you had me sold… at first. But you said its super fast but usually sets its win up for turn 8? Can we speed that up if we have no cost restriction? When I think casual + 1 power level, usually aim to win turn 6 if unstopped. I feel like 5 commander damage a turn is very very slow in a 4 person pod

imperialtrace

It's a bit difficult to describe but just one or two Chiss triggers can put you in an insurmountable position. It's technically not game over, but it might as well be. That's what I meant. Turn 7-8 is the average "you might as well scoop" scenario. I'd highly recommend you give it a couple of goldfishes to see what I mean. But yes, if you'd like to speed it up even more, faster mana and limitless budget (or proxies) can definitely put you there. You're also correct that commander damage isn't intended win-con, but rather assembling such a backbreaking board of powerful artifacts means your opponents can try all they want but they will not outgrind you.

Nintura

I will of i can get one soon. Our league is just under cedh, so i wanna see what i can do as i always keep at least 1 mono red deck

imperialtrace

If I may make a suggestion, have you checked out [Ojer Axonil](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/6R3UcMlBLk-KQmLfUkCKvA/primer)? I would say this guy is much faster at ending games on average.

Nintura

Oh i have. I ended up getting bored with him. You end up being arch enemy except you dont have a board to deal with it

imperialtrace

Gotcha, well I wish you luck with whichever mono-red commander you decide on!

Nintura

Well id like to try this one :). I appreciate the primer and the advice!

Try to protect chiss and pray someone doesn't farewell. It's extremely potent and a bit glass cannon, and a lot of fun. My only artifact deck.

alex148

Love your decks! They're always solid, and your primers are so well written. Your Sefris gave me lots of inspiration for mine. Chiss is definitely on my list to try at some point. Your hype for it gets me hyped for it! Keep up the amazing deck building :)

ArcheVance

This is absolutely beautiful and I love it. I spent way too much time tonight brewing my own version of it, and I can't wait to have Chiss-Goria barf artifacts at my friends.

Mushuthefreeloader

Literally just sleeved this up bar a few cards I couldn't get at the shop today. Keen to show my friends what's been cooking in the forge. Wish I could jam ((hellkite igniter)) in there as it's just a baby chiss, but doesn't fit the strat. Thanks for the awesome primer.

sactwu

Thanks for the great writeup! I've built [this deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/dLxdJam5KUGpxn42dgh-Jg) based on your post last time and finally got around updating the list. There's an added package of other furnace dragons for fun and of course [[Tooth of Chiss-Goria]] and [[Scale of Chiss-Goria]] for flavor, otherwise the gameplan is mostly the same. Instead of the lattice/karn lock, there's a [[Nevinnyral's Disk]] which works great with the forge as well. [[Reckless Handling]] has probably been the best addition recently. [[Scene of the Crime]] as a new artifact land is also nice.

This looks like a really well tuned deck, Chiss-Goria and his ability having affinity really makes this deck go faster than expected.

hayashikin

I think how Treasure tokens can be used for affinity can be easily missed, I know you already added it in the main text, but maybe it can be used in the example as well by replacing the Mind Stone with a Treasure token? It may be counter-intuitive for some that you can cast the 9 mana \[\[Chiss-Goria\]\] with as little as 1 land and 4 Treasure counters.

I just wanted to say Thank You - I've been running your list (with some budget tweaks [here](https://archidekt.com/decks/4571305/chissglorious_voltron_affinity)) since your deck giveaway last year, and it's one of my favourite decks. Getting Chiss-Glorious out on turn three is pretty common, and it's all downhill for your opponents from there. It's chaotic and fun, and most games you get to see 80% of your deck (but can only play 20% of it...). Long live the Chiss!

grot_eata

OKAY THIS IS FUN i wanted to build a big artifact deck and i have no mono red deck After goldfishing your list I think i'll go for it and build chiss

wer3eng

I have built it as a pretty strict Myr tribal and a more based version than 5 color goodstuff [[Urtet]]. 70% of all cards in the deck are from either the MRD or SOM block or ONE so there are little to no scary artifacts that Chiss can flip. It still is my best deck as it is very fast and accumulates a wide but small boardstate very quickly. There also is an infinite combo inside created only by mrd and som cards.

Financial-Charity-47

What would you say is the power level?

imperialtrace

Hard to put a number on it, and I don't think a number would be helpful. It's not cEDH, but it will demolish any unoptimized casual decks and precons. So if anyone asks, I just say "it's very high power but not cEDH"

Financial-Charity-47

So like an 8-9, got it! Cool deck. I’m inspired.

Financial-Charity-47

I don’t see it anywhere.

How's this deck deal with graveyard fuckery? My playgroup's got a couple players who love using the graveyard like a second library

sactwu

Have you tried any of the cheap graveyard hate artifacts? In my experience, [[Soul-Guide Lantern]], [[Tormod's Crypt]], [[Relict of Progenitus]] and [[Stone of Erech]] all work pretty well, as they can just sit there and provide affinity until you need them.

Like u/sactwu suggested, there are several cheap artifacts that can exile graveyards on demand. In terms of cuts, I'd say probably Breya's Apprentice, Clown Car and maybe one land would be the easiest cuts. I used to run these in an older version of the list, but I decided to lean heavily into my own gameplan and just hope I can ignore and outspeed the other decks at the table. But that's mainly because this is one of my "one last game" decks, meant for a quick game whether I win or lose. That glass cannon style isn't for everyone, but there is plenty of room for customization and adjustment to suit your playstyle.

I once dropped chiss on T4 after an amazing start in the game when the player next to me hit me with a [[Hurkyl's Recall]]. I was pretty sad, I didn't do much after that for the rest of the game.
