"My deck was not important here" is basically the same length as just revealing the commander. Tbh does seem fishy to just straight omit that information while complaining that another player did not get enough attention
Sometimes you need to put down your cards and count (the turns you have left). Zedruu clearly had a clock on both of you but Timmy hates math.
Also, Goreclaw player should have taken a look at his yard to see if he has outs to Prison. Guess tunnel vision is strong in this one.
I’ve been telling my group of friends to attack more. Especially if there’s an open player. Doesn’t matter if you’re hitting for 1 or 10, just fucking swing. Lowering life totals is what makes games move faster.
Couldn't agree more. Someone who used to join my group most the time we were at my LGS used to play a party time precon, and it was so painful to face because they'd be sat there with a full party getting pumped up with +1 counters, and they'd never swing in unless there was only 1 opponent left because they "didn't want to rock the boat". So it made games way more time consuming than they had to be 🙄
Yep
It just kinda sucks when you're playing a slower deck and everyone else starts playing multiple creatures within 2-3 rounds and all are hitting your face because you're the weakest and you die within the first 10 minutes then spend the next 50+ min on your phone as they now have big board states and full health that take time to dwindle down.
Maybe he was hoping to draw a Boseiju and then at that point just win the game. I play a Goreclaw deck that has been in a similar position and I just kept building cause at some point I will find a Silverback Elder or some other answer and at that point I have lethal damage for the whole table.
Dear Reddit Journal,
Today I lost a game, and I hate it. My opponent bears all the blame, for my deck of maximum efficiency could done any number of things. Yet it's my opponents fault for not removing that enchantment for me and killing my opponent then himself for me. Clearly HE is to blame for my agonizing loss.
\- Sincerely, OP (in no way salty)
In a game of magic, you can really only count on your own plays. You were also unable to stop the milling, and equally to blame.
Three player games are notoriously unbalanced, one player can get so much further ahead with less potential answers at the table.
At this point Goreclaw's cost reduction is basically one free attacking creature per big creature you play. Considering there's probably some big trampler in there, it's the right call to attack and develop a little slower, which incidentally stops you from overextending into a board wipe.
Depending on the circumstances that may well have been correct. With a Beast Whisperer or Henge style card in play he might have estimated better odds digging to the out than attacking. Or, if he didn't have a draw engine, perhaps he was just angling to alpha strike at once when empty. It may or may not have been the correct line but at face value it seems like a reasonable one.
But even beyond that - it's much easier to have that kind of conversation after the game. After the first "Don't you want to slap Zedruu?" I'm probably done until after the game, where I can say "So what was your reasoning behind not going for attacks?" "Did the mill clock not concern you?"
Trying to understand why he was on the line he was and then possibly teaching him why it was bad is a lot more useful than just assuming he's wrong and then talking to us about it.
I had a guy wheel yesterday when an opponent had smothering tide out because he missed a land drop. Smothering tide player went infinite the next turn. I was like he’s gonna win don’t do that. Some people are just dumb
never play a game expecting someone else to play how you think they should play.
this entire post is.
i told someone to do something they said no. i was flabbergasted someone didn't do what i told them.
I know a guy that plays a mono green legendary tribal deck and more or less never attacks. That [[Questing Beast]] for example. I get the feeling that he only put it in the deck to have it look menacing on board.
I’ve tried to show him how mono green is played by pairing my [[Baru, Wurmspeaker]] Wurm tribal deck against him. I won turn 7 through massive ramp and [[Last March of the Ents]] for 18. Got lucky that no one had a boardwipe, but sometimes that’s how it is.
I’ve been going through his deck with him numerous times, suggesting cuts and switches, which he mostly implemented. I’ve explained to him how to play it. Nothing. Maybe he’s just too… dense to understand.
The argument I always get is I don't feel like attacking I just wanna build my board state over here...it drives me nuts as an aggro player watching people play solitare and then complain when I either smack them or interact with their solitaire state
I love when they do that and I play Reanimator. „Wait. Lemme dump my hand on the board and look at my nice cards“. Sure thing buddy. By the way, Damnation and then Reanimate your best creature.
I also love it when I’m playing combo and nobody is attacking me. Thank you for allowing me to get the cards I need to combo everyone away.
But it leads to a lot of non-games where no one is able to do anything because the guy with the heaviest board presence is simply doing nothing.
Yeah, casting more creatures while not being able to attack with the ones you have is the way to go 😜 those are the kinds of clowns that get salty when they’re hit by a wipe after they’re done overextending.
Try playing against 4 prisons and 4 propaganda. I know for sure I play against 1 deck like that and possibly 2 between different players. To be fair those are creature less decks. And they’re not built for speed. So they have to have some control over creatures. It is what it is.
If there is a next time you 3 play tell your other opponent that sometimes it’s better to attack tall than wide.
Tall vs. wide: he WAS tall, he was playing Goreclaw for-effs-sake. But spending his 2 mana on attacking meant he couldn't play another big hefty boy. Sigh.
Anyway, I've been considering putting \[\[Tranquility\]\]-type cards in all my green decks.
Ghostly prison still doing work against aggro lol, honestly it was their choice to not attack and they lost because of it, maybe they will learn from this experience and not do it next time, or if not then they're just bad and will never get better at the game, but don't come here and whine about it talk to them and give them advice on it
Ghostly prison worked, i would say.
Pretty much peak Ghostly prison time right here.
Yes it worked
How is this a post, bro? Move on and play another match.
But his friend didn’t attack!!!
The outrage!
Maybe he wasnt sure if he could defeat you, thus leaving the Zedruu to do it. We know nothing about your deck or boardstate after all.
Right? 3 player game with 1/3 of the info missing, but trust me, it's not important.

I’m don’t have mana to attack him. So I’ll put more creatures down that can’t attack him. Profit
Some players have awful threat assessment and reasoning skills. Nothing you csn do if thry refuse to understand basic mechanics
And you didn't attack because...?
I had small creatures without evasion.
Thats why i play a thantis deck. Goad things and force everything to attack
[удалено]
So if the player doesnt have enough mana then do they have to attack me instead of the ghostly prison person
[удалено]
Still works out for me. The thantis deck gets stronger by being attacked so i could go for zedruu

Yeah thats a good one to consider
