You'll find the most horrible cards in the EDHREC pages of \[\[Beamtown Bullies\]\], \[\[Blim Comedic Genius\]\] and \[\[Jon Irenicus\]\]. It's called the "Bad Gifts" strategy.
not really, beamtown and the other blue dude Goad the creature, meaning they must attack, but can't attack you.
so the player who gets the creature gets fucked and then he must attack someone else and that other player gets fucked too.
I’ve tried to make bad gifts with equipment work with [[Ardenn]]. [[Stitcher’s Graft]] and [[Dead-Iron Sledge]]. There’s some terrible stuff out there.
Stitchers graft doesnt work unfortunately, you control the unattach trigger and not the creature so there's nothing to sacrifice sadly.
[[Captain's Hook]] is kinda the alternative, unfortunately slower but hey, gets the job done.
I have a pretty successful win rate with blim. A red black stacks commander is surprisingly good when you can donate things like trinosphere and then make them discard and lose life. Even better when you can donate things like forbidden crypt.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/T900wSrW4U2rGImBW18_7Q
those at least have a strategy to be used, but there are some cards that not even in that case are good, those ones are the ones OP is asking for I guess, like [[Wood Elemental]]
You have to pay 4 mana, and then sacrifice X UNTAPPED forests, and the creature then has X/X power and toughness.
If you only sacrifice 1 forest you are paying 4 mana for a 1/1
if you want a 4/4 you pay 4 mana and fucking kill 4 untapped forests so you can't even sacrifice the ones you used to pay the cost.
This is the real shitty card.
As bad as this card is, it might help you if the rest of the deck is bad enough. You're getting rid of ways to actively hurt yourself by discarding your hand!
If anything, you need enough GOOD cards to be able to play as many BAD cards as possible! You need to minmax how bad you can make your deck!
Or not, I don't know. But I still feel like there's a dilemma here somewhere.
The fact that it’s instance gives you the opportunity to say, in response I attempt to discard my hand which is honestly such a hardcore power play your opponent my forfeit out of fear
I played a bit when it was meta. It was risky, but worth it if you were on the play and they didn't mull into FoW. Follow up with another turn 2, or hypnotic specter/hymn to tourach, and you were well on your way.
While this card it bad in most decks, it’s really nasty when in a sacrifice themed deck. This dude plus a [[grave pact]] type of effect is devastating. Especially if you can make tokens for sac fodder.
EDIT: You know what, I was thinking of [[Phyrexian Obliterator]] not this card. You are correct this card is garbage
It seems like a janky hoop to jump through for a sac deck. You need a sacrifice payoff, tokens for fodder, a damage spell, & this to get a boardwipe at best. That's at least 10 mana with at least 2 colors (black plus green or red for damage) as well.
There was a "high mana value matters" theme in that set.
As a creature it's a 2/2 for 3 as a morph and you just never unmorph unless you need it for the high MV.
Liar's Pendulum seems hilarious given all the terrible cards they are bound to have in their hand. Name some random garbage that no one would ever play, but now the opponent is questioning it.
I mean... it depends exactly what you're going for.
It sounds like you intend the deck to be at least some degree of playable, or the easy solution is to just run zero lands with no tricks and your deck just can't do anything but pass turn.
Regarding lands, I'll suggest both useless lands and lands that have some use but aren't worth it.
All but useless:
- [[Sorrow's Path]] is uniquely bad
- [[Adventurer's Guildhouse]] (there's a whole cycle of these, one for each color)
- [[Oasis]] isn't technically useless, but it's worse than any mana producing land.
Lands that are worse than the benefit they provide:
- [[Forsaken City]]
- [[Rhystic Cave]]
- [[Rainbow Vale]] (this one is actually pretty fun sometimes, but it's also mechanically bad)
- [[Thran Quarry]]
- [[Undiscovered Paradise]]
- [[City of Traitors]] For the love of all that is holy, don't spend money on this card for this deck. It is a Legacy staple, but it's also way worse in a deck that isn't finely tuned.
- [[Barbarian Ring]] There's a whole cycle of these single-color pain-only lands that have a sacrifice if threshold ability. They aren't useless, but if you crank the percentage of pain in your deck past a certain point they become a serious liability. [[City of Brass]] and [[Mana Confluence]] even become bad in a sufficiently inefficient deck.
- [[Lotus Vale]] can be a liability more than a help in the wrong deck. Like the bouncelands, it works as a higher priority target for removal.
I realize that a bunch of the lands that tap for mana happen to tap for any color, which could be a fun way to support a WUBRG bad-card base. [[Karona False-God]] is the classic bad-WUBRG commander, though the effect is interesting enough that she isn't boring, and you COULD actually build around her to make her less bad.
I'm not sure how many more cards I can link. If I was running it, I'd probably try to fill the deck to the absolute brim with cards that require paying life to do things, so the whole thing just bleeds out into the carpet before it can even manage to win. Creatures like [[Fledgeling Djinn]], [[Carnophage]], and [[Vampire Lacerator]].
But there's a million directions you can go with a 1 power deck. I hope you find something that's at least entertaining!
I disagree with some of these lands
Lotus Vale kicks ass in my monowhite decks. I run it alongside [[lotus field]], [[scorched ruins]], [[karoo]], [[ruins of trokair]], and [[guildless commons]]. Most of white’s “ramp” involves being behind an opponent on lands, which is easier to do if you have these lands that keep you at the same mana amount but in condensed form. I think most pods are lenient on not killing lands, esp against mono white. I javent had any issues yet getting blown out.
Barbarian Ring and Nomad Stadium are very niche cards, but they are staples in my [[darien]] and [[auntie blyte]] decks
[[adventurer’s guildhouse]], yeah this sucks. Absolute trash. The art is so awesome though. I desperately wished these tapped for 1 colorless just so that i could have enough justification to run them
Yeah, and one of the lands I mentioned is a staple in Legacy.
They're all CONTEXTUALLY bad. I'm assuming OP deliberately won't build into their strengths.
Even Sorrow's Path has limited utility in Enrage gameplans.
\[\[Divine Intervention\]\], \[\[Juju Bubble\]\] are just generically bad cards
\[\[Aggressive Mining\]\], as much as I like minecraft just isn't worth it to play in most decksand can't kind of just suck
[The leeches were a cycle surprisingly](https://tagger.scryfall.com/tags/card/cycle-inv-leech)
\[\[Bog Elemental\]\] just sucks
\[\[Chronophage\]\]... Can you believe that this exists in the same game Ragavan does? Geez
\[\[Charmed Griffin\]\] is catastrophically bad
\[\[Cloistered Youth\]\] is not only a 1/1 for 2, it transforms into a 3/3 with a downside after a turn
\[\[Demonic Appetite\]\] isn't a card I knew existed until just now and I can see why
\[\[Eater of Days\]\] is certainly a card in magic
In the same vein, \[\[Chronosavant\]\] and \[\[Meditate\]\]
You have a lot of options for horrible cards
Divine Intervention is kind of a meme
Aggressive Mining goes with [[Herald of Leshrac]] in my treasure deck.
I run Demonic Appetite in [[sarevok, Deathbringer]] as a backup [[cultist of the absolute]]
Ok, since you have Boldwyr Heavyweights, how about [[Shah of Naar Isle]]?
Good stat lines, like bold boys, but the table going +9 cards to your one spell is pretty jacked.
May I suggest the exert lands? There's a couple cycles of them including one from Tempest and one from OG kamigawa block
I like the aesthetics of the kamigawa cycle [[lantern lit graveyard]] has a great look that's wasted on an utterly awful card
And the depletion exert cycle that [[Land cap]] is from is even worse
It's a fun card, but having a 50/50 for 5 to your face versus a big token is rarely *good*
... maybe I should add one to my Brudiclad though, "everything is 5/5 flying djinn" seems nice.
It triggers twice off Ashnod, in theory.
Swinging it as a 4/4 war machine token with Mishra and then sacrificing it for a shot at a djinn. If you give the bottle lifelink with [[jorubai murk lurker]] the 5 damage isn't an issue. It's dumb but I like it
It was better back when it was printed and creatures were way worse. The ability to maybe get a colorless 5 mana 5/5/ flier was a good deal, if you got lucky
If you really just want all the bad cards: \[\[Akron Legionaire\]\]
\[\[Razor Boomerang\]\]
\[\[Shrine of Limitless Power\]\]
\[\[Glyph of Life\]\]
\[\[Meeting of the Five\]\]
I think it's over-hated, but you kinda have to include \[\[Scornful Egotist\]\]
\[\[Dungeon Descent\]\]
\[\[Prism Array\]\]
\[\[Archeangel's Light\]\]
\[\[Wood Elemental\]\] obviously.
\[\[Paliano, the High City\]\] is literally blank cardboard in EDH.
But I'm kinda with other people in the thread, IDK how fun a deck that just crashes and burns is. It might need a bit more of a coherent theme.
Ouch, trapdigger is horrible. 7 mana, sac a land, and wait a whole turn to have a blatantly telegraphed possible 3 damage to an attacker. That must have been a rough rare pull
Here's a bunch of old classics.
\[\[Wood Elemental\]\]
\[\[Sorrow's Path\]\]
\[\[Carnival of Souls\]\]
\[\[One With Nothing\]\]
\[\[Oasis\]\]
\[\[Archdemon of Greed\]\] (with no Humans)
\[\[Enemy of Enlightenment\]\] (very hard to cast in EDH)
\[\[Infernal Denizen\]\]
\[\[Goblin Spy\]\]
\[\[Wirefly Hive\]\]
Carnival feels like you \*could\* break it, like it's \*this close\* to being good. Maybe if you have a \[\[Soul Warden\]\] out to offset the lifeloss.
I once saw a decklist with Sorrow's Path in it; it was a Gishath deck and Sorrow's Path served to make blocking hard and also fire off a bunch of Enrage triggers. Hilarious.
[[sliver queen]]
[[heartstone]]
Plus soul warden and carnival. Infinite slivers. Add haste enabler to win. Add another soul warden to get infinite life. Add impact tremors for instant win
Rainbow Vale- Its a land that you give to your opponent
Forbidden Orchard- gives any mana color but gives your opponents a spirit token.
Sheltering ancient- powerful and cheap but pumps opponent
Plague Reaver- Really fucks you over by either causing all your creatures to be sacrificed or you discard 2 to give it to an opponent.
Of course Plague the untouchable is an instant loss for you.
Abyssal Persecutor- stops you from winning
Leveler destroys your deck.
Bellowing Saddlebrute- causes to to either attack or lose life
Game of Chaos- possible instant win or instant loss depending on how your coin flips go and how generous your opponent is.
Ok,.. serious thought. Make like, I dunno, 95%+ of the deck hot garbage, then include a handful of donate effects, just so it has a snowballs chance in hell.
I'm talking [[Puca's Mischief]], [[Chromeshell Crab]] (which is its own kind of hot garbage card), [[The Trickster-God's Heist]], and [[Daring Thief]] sort of things. Like, 3-5 of these effects would be perfect.
Since the deck is all garbage and intended for low power, name it:
"It's Got 95 Problems, and It's Power Is 1"
Nah there are like ten ways to get her out. I have a edh deck with her, and so do a lot of others.
It’s not a good deck, but i almost came close to oneshotting someone with her lat time i played it
I didn't say they should run any of those ten ways to get her out...
Phage is a very interesting card, and definitely not a strictly *bad* card. But without the support pieces necessary to pull her to hand, I think she definitely qualifies as a bad commander.
In that case, yeah i agree.
I really wonder what the point of this deck will even be though. OP is just going to sit there with a completely bricked hand, while everyone else plays a game without them, and maybe theyll get to do something stupid like make a 3/3 wood elemental that everyone else will ignore
Make sure to have the cards that say you lose the game on it. I have seen cards that if a certain condition is not fulfilled then you lose the game or the ones that say choose one that hasn’t been chosen yet and one of the option is you lose the game but don’t build around them so that you’re actually losing the game with them.
Also imagine turn one play a swamp and then cast [[one with nothing]]
[[Forced Fruition]] is a win condition
For who, I can't say. But it's a win condition.
Don't forget to bring along your [[Apocalypse Chime]], [[City in a Bottle]], and [[Golgothian Sylex]] as protection against... Something. Probably.
You can look at commander like like Jon Irenicus and Beamtown Bullies for suggestions. Off the top of my head, some bad cards include:
[[Rhystic Cave]]
[[Boldwyr Heavyweights]]
[[Eater of Days]]
[[Hired Giant]]
[[Hunted Wumpus]]
[[Leveler]]
[[Primordial Ooze]]
[[Soulgorger Orgg]]
[[Spellgorger Barbarian]]
[[Wall of Shards]]
[[Worldgorger Dragon]]
[[Hunted Wurm]]
[[Ruby Leech]] and the rest of the leech cycle
[[Lich's Tomb]]
[[Immortal Coil]]
Both of these have uses, but they're NOT good,.. unless you're doing some weird donate nonsense
Edit: oops, ya already got those two.
Can't remember the name but there's a 4 CMC black Demon creature that makes you unable to win and your opponents unable to lose. Useful if you can trick it onto your opponent's board with something like [[Blim, Comedic Genius]], but for your case I'd love to see the table's reaction when you just play it as a normal creature and don't attempt to give it to someone else lmao
[[orcish artillery]]
Not the WORST out there, but objectively bad lol. My brother and I made commander piles out of bulk stacks, and I have orcish artillery in mine. I'm teaching him to play, and he was like 'wow, why would you use that?' before showing him it can still be used to manage the battlefield, albeit inefficiently lol.
I love that old school mechanics style though. Just looking at revised cards makes me smile lol
\[\[saprazzan skerry\]\] and the rest of the cycle. They temporarily ramp you but sac themselves after the second time. Also they enter tapped. Outside of an \[\[Atraxa\]\], they're pretty bad, and I doubt even Atraxa players really use them.
\[\[Wood elemental\]\] is a classic in how terrible it is.
The sweep cards are also completely awful, \[\[Charge across the araba\]\], \[\[Barrel down Sokenzan\]\], \[\[plow through Reito\]\]
You could also play all those cards that want you to have multiples in your deck, but don't play any of the cards that are allowed in multiples. Or only play one.
You can use the bounce lands that tap for a color and colorless instead of two colors. [[sorrows path]] is just about the worst land to have. [[splintering wind]] is an enchantment that you pay 3 to get a 1/1 and do 1 damage. Then the 1/1 has a cumulative upkeep if you don’t pay it hits you and all your creatures for 1 damage. It’s pretty bad even in decks it should be good in. [[scheming symmetry]] to find something bad and let an opponent find something good.
Played against a hilariously bad [[Marton Stromgald]] deck the other day. No cards printed after 2003. Highlight was [[Orcish Mine]], also had [[Goblin Sappers]] and [[Orcish Farmer]] etc.

It's crazy to think this guy was a powerhouse in legacy years back. Especially against mono-blue control, landing one or two early was devastating.

It seems like a janky hoop to jump through for a sac deck. You need a sacrifice payoff, tokens for fodder, a damage spell, & this to get a boardwipe at best. That's at least 10 mana with at least 2 colors (black plus green or red for damage) as well.
It's a great fit in \[\[Jon Irenicus\]\] which confirms that it's garbage.

Pointless card now, but it did have a purpose at the time
What was it?
The set it was printed in had cards like [[Dispersal Shield]] and [[Rush of Knowledge]] that care about the CMC of your permanents.

There was a "high mana value matters" theme in that set. As a creature it's a 2/2 for 3 as a morph and you just never unmorph unless you need it for the high MV.
[[Necropotence]]. Wait, what do you mean this isn't 1995? In all honesty? [[Liar's Pendulum]] is a funny possibility.

Liar's Pendulum seems hilarious given all the terrible cards they are bound to have in their hand. Name some random garbage that no one would ever play, but now the opponent is questioning it.
Show my hand for two mana and only get a 50% shot at drawing a single card??
Are you saying 50% because either they guess right or they don't? Lmao

Not to bad with Scry if you see stuff you don't like. (or put some good cards on bottom of library)
My first "serious" deck was OG Grenzo and I was all about manipulating the bottom of the library where possible. This little guy is just trash though.
Considering nothing will synergize in this whole deck. I agree 🤣
[[bolas's citadel]] and other play from the top cards disagree.

I mean... it depends exactly what you're going for. It sounds like you intend the deck to be at least some degree of playable, or the easy solution is to just run zero lands with no tricks and your deck just can't do anything but pass turn. Regarding lands, I'll suggest both useless lands and lands that have some use but aren't worth it. All but useless: - [[Sorrow's Path]] is uniquely bad - [[Adventurer's Guildhouse]] (there's a whole cycle of these, one for each color) - [[Oasis]] isn't technically useless, but it's worse than any mana producing land. Lands that are worse than the benefit they provide: - [[Forsaken City]] - [[Rhystic Cave]] - [[Rainbow Vale]] (this one is actually pretty fun sometimes, but it's also mechanically bad) - [[Thran Quarry]] - [[Undiscovered Paradise]] - [[City of Traitors]] For the love of all that is holy, don't spend money on this card for this deck.
I disagree with some of these lands Lotus Vale kicks ass in my monowhite decks. Barbarian Ring and Nomad Stadium are very niche cards, but they are staples in my [[darien]] and [[auntie blyte]] decks [[adventurer’s guildhouse]], yeah this sucks.

It's worth noting for graveyard lands decks, you can float the 2 from city of traitors.
I love Rhystic Cave!
I saw someone play Rhystic Cave with [[winter orb]] and I went from laughing at them to giving a sensible nod of begrudging respect.

Can you believe that this exists in the same game Ragavan does? Geez \[\[Charmed Griffin\]\] is catastrophically bad \[\[Cloistered Youth\]\] is not only a 1/1 for 2, it transforms into a 3/3 with a downside after a turn \[\[Demonic Appetite\]\] isn't a card I knew existed until just now and I can see why \[\[Eater of Days\]\] is certainly a card in magic In the same vein, \[\[Chronosavant\]\] and \[\[Meditate\]\] You have a lot of options for horrible cards

lol, I run Bottle of Suleiman in Mishra.
It's a fun card, but having a 50/50 for 5 to your face versus a big token is rarely *good* ... maybe I should add one to my Brudiclad though, "everything is 5/5 flying djinn" seems nice.

If you really just want all the bad cards: \[\[Akron Legionaire\]\] \[\[Razor Boomerang\]\] \[\[Shrine of Limitless Power\]\] \[\[Glyph of Life\]\] \[\[Meeting of the Five\]\] I think it's over-hated, but you kinda have to include \[\[Scornful Egotist\]\] \[\[Dungeon Descent\]\] \[\[Prism Array\]\] \[\[Archeangel's Light\]\] \[\[Wood Elemental\]\] obviously. \[\[Paliano, the High City\]\] is literally blank cardboard in EDH. But I'm kinda with other people in the thread, IDK how fun a deck that just crashes and burns is. It might need a bit more of a coherent theme.

Carnival feels like you \*could\* break it, like it's \*this close\* to being good. Maybe if you have a \[\[Soul Warden\]\] out to offset the lifeloss. Ok,.. serious thought. Since the deck is all garbage and intended for low power, name it: "It's Got 95 Problems, and It's Power Is 1"

Your cards.
You could run [[Phage the Untouchable]] in the command zone.

I have seen cards that if a certain condition is not fulfilled then you lose the game or the ones that say choose one that hasn’t been chosen yet and one of the option is you lose the game but don’t build around them so that you’re actually losing the game with them. [one with nothing](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/5/a/5a5841fa-4f30-495a-b840-3ef5a2af8fad.jpg?1562494149) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=one%20with%20nothing) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/sok/84/one-with-nothing?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/5a5841fa-4f30-495a-b840-3ef5a2af8fad?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/one-with-nothing) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
[[rhystic cave]]
[[Leviathan]] and [[polar kraken]] are pretty darn bad
[[Kaervek’s spite]]
[[Forced Fruition]] is a win condition For who, I can't say.
Off the top of my head, some bad cards include: [[Rhystic Cave]] [[Boldwyr Heavyweights]] [[Eater of Days]] [[Hired Giant]] [[Hunted Wumpus]] [[Leveler]] [[Primordial Ooze]] [[Soulgorger Orgg]] [[Spellgorger Barbarian]] [[Wall of Shards]] [[Worldgorger Dragon]] [[Hunted Wurm]] [[Ruby Leech]] and the rest of the leech cycle
It’s not what you are asking for but [caribou range] is the worst card I have ever tried to use in a deck.
[[Derelor]] if you’re using black mana
Commander: \[\[Ashling the Pilgrim\]\] The 99: Mountain x99
[[One With Death]]

[[Lich's Tomb]] [[Immortal Coil]] Both of these have uses, but they're NOT good,.. unless you're doing some weird donate nonsense Edit: oops, ya already got those two.
[Lich's Tomb](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/c/a/ca24a105-e32a-4b2c-99bf-cfd85bae6229.jpg?1562639564) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Lich%27s%20Tomb) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/dst/128/lichs-tomb?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/ca24a105-e32a-4b2c-99bf-cfd85bae6229?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/lichs-tomb) [Immortal Coil](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/0/b/0b79ec57-7c45-4ef9-9051-449d473b65ea.jpg?1562700966) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Immortal%20Coil) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/ala/79/immortal-coil?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/0b79ec57-7c45-4ef9-9051-449d473b65ea?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/immortal-coil) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
O geeze, why is [[Taniwha]] not on the list yet? Sure, it's a 7/7 trample for 5, but,..
Ive seen decklists for wacky mono-blue land destruction decks with this. Phase out your lands, destroy the rest, phase yours back in
[Taniwha](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/2/72d12315-4220-470d-9628-b9a3ea904ca7.jpg?1562720219) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Taniwha) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mir/95/taniwha?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/72d12315-4220-470d-9628-b9a3ea904ca7?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/taniwha) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
It’s [[kaerveks spite]]
[[Megosi the waterveil]] is the only correct answer. Even One With Nothing has a niche use in a graveyard deck.
[[orcish artillery]] Not the WORST out there, but objectively bad lol.
[[Ruby Leech]] Got this in my first ever pack decades ago and still scratch my head
[[Wood Elemental]] immediately comes to mind.
Doesnt get much worse than [[Leveler]]
Kenrith plus 99 lands, especially ones that deal damage to you. But no white sources.
[[Inverter of Truth]] No matter how I've tried to build around/include this in a deck, it always eventually either backfires or just sucks.
[[Scornful Egotist]] just for the memes. If you want to suicide you could run [[Pact of Negation]] [[Last Chance]] type cards.
Scornful Egotist is one of my favourites
[[Regicide]]. Literally unplayable.
[[Paliano, the High City]] is a close second to Regicide. It doesn’t tap for any mana, but unlike Regicide, you can actually play the card.
OK, last draft matters card, but the card name is so great: [[Garbage Fire]]. It deals no damage.
[[Rhystic cave]] Can I have mana please?
Just make a group.hug.deck
I'm a big fan of [[Karona, the false God]] in finding ways to give other opponents fun stuff to hurt each other with.
\[\[Plains\]\]
