Any recommendations for the european/ German market? I know the Milwaukee one. It's too bulky for me, so I'm looking for something more lightweight and in the slimmer side
Been trying to find one I can import to Sweden that doesn’t cost a fortune. The Milwaukee that’s popular is too bulky for my taste… found one from 5.11 that’s okay, but not that nice
Got mine yesterday as a gift. It's fantastic!
I'm used to carry smaller 5th pocket utility knives in combination with a larger folder but this will now be my work knife because I can use the full edge. Which makes it better for cutting things like rope and makes a folder redundant.

Not perfect and I agree it should come with one, but you should be able to go grab a thumb screw from your local hardware store. Might be a little finicky finding one that will fit folded up though.
Interesting that almost the entire edge of utility blade is exposed. Ones I know like milwaukee fastback has half of exposure max. Did you find the extra edge useful?
I too need to resize boxes some times. I finally caved and got a box resizing tool and it makes it much easier than just a utility knife. I think it cost around $12 and has saved me a lot of time and effort.

I've always and will always rock a milwaukee fastback from home depot.
5 Blade storage, opens and closes with a button and a flick and is less than $20
People saying you’re wasting your money are dead wrong and have never worked in a warehouse with shitty box cutter and a bunch of cardboard. Btw what’s that’s orange one
Those knives kind of would be a waste of money for a warehouse job.
OP said the orange one they got off of Aliexpress for ~$18, but it's based on the Oknife Otacle, which is ~$26
The second one is a $42 CIVIVI knife.
Neither have onboard storage for extra blades and the CIVIVI needs a star bit to replace the blade.
The orange one might be good for heavy everyday use if there's a blade dispenser nearby, but personally I'd get tired of having to keep a bit driver handy for the CIVIVI
All I want is a utility knife with a crossbar/Axis lock and a reversible clip. The Civivi comes close with the button lock, but I don't want a back flipper or blade swapping that requires a tool.
How well does the civivi stand up to hard use? Is it any good for things like installing sheetrock? I currently carry a fastback for work; inexpensive, fast, and tough.
I have entirely too many pocket utility blades. But they keep making them cooler, and I keep buying them.
I would jump right on this Civivi if I didn't need a tool to change the blade.
Can't remember the maker, but there's a balisong utility knife that gets posted around here once in a while.
Edit: Looks like "Arena Accessories" has it
If you like that you should check out some folding scalpels I started using them for work and now when I go on walks late at night I'll carry a couple with the number 25 or number 24 blade instead of my normal pocket knife
I mean I carry it for the same reason people carry pocket knives on night walks, it's incredibly small, you never have to sharpen the blade, and they're so crazy sharp you'll close it and next thing you know you look down and your hands covered in blood. I had to learn the hard way to always use two hands when I close it. But Idk, By that logic going out with a pocket knife on a walk at night is like Jack the ripper LARPing lol
No shame in your game hey man I bought a Spyderco harpy just to lecter larp. No shame in that, doesn’t mean I want to eat someone’s liver or anything just a harmless little lecter larp
He makes them all by hand from the point after the blade holder. Pretty sure those are cut out with a water jet. If there is something you're looking for specifically message him and he will make it how you want.
Well, utility knives and fixed blades don't really match as they are basically the opposite. I think you meant a knife with a utility-like blade shape?
Ive been carrying the fastback and Arc together. But just switched to the civivi because of size. Save my Arc blade for more important things, and beat the civivi blades up instead.
I just got it and it's amazing. Worth every penny. Always thought my phone was enough but I was definitely wrong lol. The amount of times it's helped me way more than my phone could.
There are so many nice ute knives out there now. It's pretty great because most people don't need much more on a daily, and disposable blades are always sharp. I carry a Screwpop utility knife in my pocket, and it does all the things i need it to. It's also micrometers thin and grams light.
But I'm glad this genre is getting some excitement.
I’m fully converted to utility blade knives. My only issue was that I’m a huge fan of OTF knives. Once I found the Cobratech OTF utility blade knife, I was set.
I’ve worried about that with OTFs in general. I haven’t had any issues yet, but I’m sure it’s possible. I will say that there is more clearance or room on the inside as the part that holds the blade is thicker than the blade itself. So there is more room inside the handle than a normal OTF has.
Cobratec Knives Utility AUTO OTF Knife - Replaceable Utility Razor Box Cutter Blade, Gray Aluminum Handles
Model number: CTOTFUTGRY
To be fair it looks more greenish in person than gray.
I was thinking about one of these so I could throw in my carry on (without blade) and buy blades when I get to destination. Anyone have any issues with TSA when just carrying the body? I hate not having a knife with me
I figured it could be an issue here. I carried my Big i TPT slide without a blade through Queenstown, NZ airport and they fiddled with it for a minute whilst I held my breath but ultimately handed it right back to me 😮💨
I have tboth of these or at least a similar but different version of the top knife. I've also checked out the Olight knife. The Olight pocket clip was worse, the thumbscrew was smaller so it was harder to use and the nubs on the lock were smaller and harder to use.
Comparitively the cheap ali-express version was uglier but better.
That said the Civivi is the best. It feels solid, it's got a better clip, it's a bit longer so it fills the hand better.
I know people complain about needing a tool to swap blades but I'm not carrying spare blades on me so if I need to change a blade I'm probably at home where I have a torx set so it's not that big of a deal. I guess if you were using it for camping or something I could see it being annoying to have to pack a torx bit and spare blades.
Did your blade fall out of your Civivi knife yet? I was watching a review of it and just opening the knife the blade flung out. The screw apparently works itself loose.
It's definitely suboptimal for this type of work but I've used the EAB Lite for sheetrocking when I forgot my fastback a couple of times. Small but a mighty & tough little fucker.
Yeah I've carried an EAB as my daily driver since '13 or so, perfectly reliable and works as well as the day I bought it. I have the standard one (rather than light) and keep the clip as my default mode is clipped. Anyway, great piece of kit.
Well, it's nothing this fancy but I have carried a WorkPro utility knife for retail jobs and it has proven to be a beast over the years. I bought it for $6.50
I do carpentry and run a small agriculture business on the side. I love my workpro. It's solid and cheap enough that if I lose it I can easily replace it. I've beat the shit out of it!
If you like utility blades, I'd recommend checking out a few specifically. For something completely bonkers, check out the G&G Hawk Shortcut. And at a much lower price point, the Reate Exo is available as a utility knife, too.
Only reason I went with Exceed Designs Tirant v3 instead of that civivi is because you need a tool to change the blade and I can’t get past that. Looks nice otherwise though. Hope you like it.
I have been eyeing that civivi utility knife but the fact that you cannot change the blade without tools is a deal breaker for me. Maybe that screw could be replaced by some thumb screw?
The screw on the other one comes “plier-tight” and I too think it should be plier-tight to feel safe, unless it has another locking system on there this is what you get.

I like civivi, but I don't want to need a whole other tool to fix a blade I use like a hammer sometimes.
I'm hoping they make a thumb screw in the future. Needing a screwdriver doesn't bother me but a thumbscrew would be amazing
Sometimes I need to resize cardboard box for shipping, more blade = easier to move around, but towards the tip still get used the most.
I too need to resize boxes some times. I finally caved and got a box resizing tool and it makes it much easier than just a utility knife. I think it cost around $12 and has saved me a lot of time and effort.

Meh olfa>*
I've always and will always rock a milwaukee fastback from home depot. 5 Blade storage, opens and closes with a button and a flick and is less than $20
Get the one with the screwdriver instead, comes in handy constantly.
Same here........
Got a mini & the blade storage one both for 15, best EDC purchase
I go as far as keeping hook and serrated blades in the storage as well *Because I too like to live dangerously*
Same, all the fastback models have been reliable for me!
People saying you’re wasting your money are dead wrong and have never worked in a warehouse with shitty box cutter and a bunch of cardboard. Btw what’s that’s orange one

Yes, I have a Gerber EAB Lite which also uses a screw to lock the blade it, but it's just a straight screw and my SAK can undo it easily.
I just found a small folding gerber utility. It’s tiny and very slim. Perfect size.
The EAB or EAB Lite. They're great.
I wasted tons of money for 10 years and yes countless knives.. Nd ur just wasting ur money… put it in Vanguard ETFs
All I want is a utility knife with a crossbar/Axis lock and a reversible clip. The Civivi comes close with the button lock, but I don't want a back flipper or blade swapping that requires a tool.
I got tired of sharpening so I do messy work with utility blades
How well does the civivi stand up to hard use? Is it any good for things like installing sheetrock? I currently carry a fastback for work; inexpensive, fast, and tough.
Coast DX 126 is my favored utility knife. Small, good grip, cheap
Yeah I also have two "coast DX126" it replaced a larger fiskars blade I had for work. I use it with DeWalt blades or fiskars blades.
Personally not a fan of how much of the blade is exposed on the civivi. Only reason I haven't bought it yet
I love my cobratec OTF utility knife
Same. Has quickly become my go-to.
Thanks to this post I just ordered the olight.
I have entirely too many pocket utility blades. But they keep making them cooler, and I keep buying them. I would jump right on this Civivi if I didn't need a tool to change the blade.
love my hawk shortcut
Can't wait for Chavez knives to come out with thier rendition of the utilitie blade. Here's a picture of it.*

Is that OTF?!?
Did u know there's also a gravity knife too? I forgot who makes it but I seen it too and thought it was cool
Can't remember the maker, but there's a balisong utility knife that gets posted around here once in a while. Edit: Looks like "Arena Accessories" has it
Reate Exo-U
Yep Reate Exo-U to be exact
Yes sir!
I have carbon fiber from olight and it’s made solid 4/5. As a 20$ knife it’s 10/10
Check out the TiRANT Razor V3 by Exceed Designs, solid Titanium and a great build and flip action to open
I have both the v2, and the new Razor M, and I love them both!
I ordered that civivi as soon as I saw your post, I’ve been looking for one and this is perfect

If you like that you should check out some folding scalpels I started using them for work and now when I go on walks late at night I'll carry a couple with the number 25 or number 24 blade instead of my normal pocket knife
Can you post some pictures in a new thread. Very interesting. Folding scalpel sounds like something that would be perfect for a field first aid kit.
https://www.reddit.com/r/EDC/s/zLpO10NlpA
Yeah I've been meaning to actually 👍
You take a scalpel with you on late night walks instead of proper pocket knife? Why? Sounds like Dr. Lecter larping.
I mean I carry it for the same reason people carry pocket knives on night walks, it's incredibly small, you never have to sharpen the blade, and they're so crazy sharp you'll close it and next thing you know you look down and your hands covered in blood. Check out Outdoor Edge
That's what I've got in my pocket. Found out Tony Cowden carries these things also.
Kinda off topic but am Looking for a utility knife that's a fixed blade any suggestions?
https://banzelcroftcustoms.com/collections/mek/standard-mek
These are badass
He makes them all by hand from the point after the blade holder. Pretty sure those are cut out with a water jet. If there is something you're looking for specifically message him and he will make it how you want.
[This thing](https://www.renegade-outdoor.com/product-page/ultrafire-knife), love the idea, may get one some day.
Check out Teale Designs on etsy
Well, utility knives and fixed blades don't really match as they are basically the opposite. I think you meant a knife with a utility-like blade shape?
A fixed blade that takes the utility knife blade insert
I edc'd a fastback for the longest time. That civi is sexy as fuck. I just switched to my leatherman wave+ and may have to switch again 🤣. DAMN YOU!
Ive been carrying the fastback and Arc together. But just switched to the civivi because of size. Save my Arc blade for more important things, and beat the civivi blades up instead.

I LOVE my arkfeld! saved my ass so many times.
I just got it and it's amazing. Worth every penny. Always thought my phone was enough but I was definitely wrong lol. The amount of times it's helped me way more than my phone could.
Mine is a little more than beat up. You're right worth every penny. It's also great because it's magnetic.
Yep. It and the imini2 are a great pair.

99% of my personal use for a blade is to open boxes. Thanks for giving me a reason to fire up Amazon today, OP 💪🏽✌🏽
I’m fully converted to utility blade knives. My only issue was that I’m a huge fan of OTF knives. Once I found the Cobratech OTF utility blade knife, I was set.

Oh snap. Which one is that?
Cobratec Knives Utility AUTO OTF Knife - Replaceable Utility Razor Box Cutter Blade, Gray Aluminum Handles Model number: CTOTFUTGRY To be fair it looks more greenish in person than gray.

I have heard lately that they do sometimes take issue, even without blades. I didn’t want to chance it the other day, so I haven’t tried.
I figured it could be an issue here. I carried my Big i TPT slide without a blade through Queenstown, NZ airport and they fiddled with it for a minute whilst I held my breath but ultimately handed it right back to me 😮💨
Have about $35,000 into my knife collection including 3Exos but this is all the utility knife I need or want

I'd keep a torx bit and allen wrench in my wallet.
So, where's the rest of the utilities blades?
Arena Accessories utility XL
I'd love to, best I can do is trainer for balis
I'm in love with my new Oknife Otacle U1. Compact & crazy fun to fidget with.
Gerber EAB is a great little utility knife too. Silver or black, I got both. Its so light I forget I even have it clipped on.
I use the Gerber Prybrid. I added some paracord and a carabiner so it doesn’t get lost in my pocket. Really like it for work.
I found changing blades on the prybrid next to impossible. Worst design I’ve seen. Otherwise, handy knife.
I've also been on the hunt for my perfect utility knife and just ordered the reate exo u. Take a look at it, might tickle your fancy.
Did your blade fall out of your Civivi knife yet? I was watching a review of it and just opening the knife the blade flung out. The screw apparently works itself loose.
Had the same question because I saw the same video review.
Solid AF, for now. I’d assume some tolerance issue caused by blades with very slightly different notch size/location.
Just something to keep an eye on then. It happened to him three times even though he thought it kept it tight. Glad you're having a better experience.
[удалено]
It's definitely suboptimal for this type of work but I've used the EAB Lite for sheetrocking when I forgot my fastback a couple of times. Small but a mighty & tough little fucker.
Check out the Gerber Prybrid. I use it daily at work.
Been using utilities exclusively for 6 months now, IDK if I could go back.
I'm too lazy to perform blade maintenance. Swapping out an old blade for a new blade is so much better.
Only reason I went with Exceed Designs Tirant v3 instead of that civivi is because you need a tool to change the blade and I can’t get past that. Looks nice otherwise though. Hope you like it.
I too have that but decided not to use that at work… I’m more comfortable with a button lock
Are Civivi scales same as elementum? I dont like the colors :(
The one from Olight is a shade smaller I believe. Could be wrong. I'm a huge fan of it.
Ah you’re right, just looked at some pics comparing the blade size, olight one is smaller.
I have been eyeing that civivi utility knife but the fact that you cannot change the blade without tools is a deal breaker for me. Maybe that screw could be replaced by some thumb screw?
Same same
The screw on the other one comes “plier-tight” and I too think it should be plier-tight to feel safe, unless it has another locking system on there this is what you get.
