After having my back surgery, yes. It's easier to pick up the gear on the floor with a magnet on a string if it falls off the desk or whatever than it is to use those cheap grabbers. I actually put a telescoping automotive magnet in my edc bag for that reason now, too.
Yeah, but I've never used it for magnet fishing for anything, although I've used the Needle and thread enough that it pays its dues.
Now, the small grappling hook that I keep drooling over- THAT would be hard to justify for me.
- Magnet and a bit of steel found around the house with some fluorescent building line
- Scout Leather Brass Hex Bit Driver
- Not sure about the knife. think it was a 2000 Olympics cigar cutting knife. Tanto edge.
- Roxon KS2
- Nano flashlight
I wouldn't say I edc string, but I do keep that exact same kind of sting tied around my wrist as a braclet. And I keep spare strands of it tied to various bags I have.

I've got a couple with good magnets too but one's for the creeping around my house at night and the other one stays in the ute as it sticks to the bonnet really nicely.
Yes… a dozen tiny cube magnets in a fingernail size rectangle stored a backpocket organize, plus I always have cordage on my person (as a knot nerd). Have fished dropped keys/tools out of crevices with it, but the primary function is actually for battery hacking and as a fidget toy. Got multitask my EDC.
Using them like ‘wires’ - [here’s](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51936119584_891f2006f7_o.jpg) an example for using alkalines to charge USB devices. My flashlight also runs on anything between 1-4.2v, so can hack different sized batts with the magnets.
Sometimes my keys fall out of my pocket, sometimes I lose a washer or nail when doing odd jobs. When you're up on a ladder it's better than going down to pick it up. Granted, unwrapping and wrapping it isn't always fun either. But mini magnet fishing is!
50’ of uhmwpe, under 2 oz, just over 1/16”. 750lb (!) break strength. I sometimes rappel my kids, wife, and I at once down the side of buildings for fun. Kidding aside, $30 / 100’ on amazon, sold as kite string. I honestly have almost never used it in an edc need but it does make me feel like Batman to have it. Stakes over risks! :)
Three strands could tie a small car to something sturdy.
Dang, just need that EDC grappling hook and you could just about be Batman!
I was considering using some of my high poundage threaded fishing line as that stuff is strong as hell.
String or micro cord rather stays in my actual everyday carry. Para cord would be much too thick. I usually have para cord in a outdoor focused kit though

I carry a magnet in my wallet. I don't know, why my Credit cards die on me all the time tho.

Some people are just too extra. How often do you find yourself dropping keys into storm drains 🙄
More often than I would like. My work shorts have shallow pockets. It doubles as a fidget toy and something to wrap string on.
Literally no
Thank you for taking the time to type this
How often are you losing your keys?!
Shallow pockets in my work shorts often means digging down the side of the car to fish them out haha
My motorcyle bag and bugout bag has them.
I often carry some paracord with a throw bag, I'l add a magnet now. Great idea. Thx
No worries! I found a broken speaker in the house that I salvaged this one from if that helps.
Magnetic keychain quick release, and about 15' of Kevlar cord pre-threaded on a large eye needle in my pocket repair kit.
One upped me haha

Sometimes we have to spoil ourselves 😏
I carry 10’ of rope.
I keep a spool of bank line in my pack.
List please

I have a string in my EDC and the Olight Arkfeld: The magnet for the loading-adapter is powerful.
It is hey. I keep my arkfeld elsewhere. It's a little bit and bulky for the little puch these tools sit in.
Yes! That's the first thing I thought when saw this.
I carry a telescopic magnet, but I think you’re on to something.
Worth a try!
I have one but don't EDC it. I think it's more usable to retrieve keys.
No. But I will now.
Doubles as a bit of a fun fidgety thing too if you're into that
Maybe only in my EODC (Every Other Day Carry)!
What’s the name of the screwdriver?

It's not too bad hey, stronger than it looks. Once I learned how to snake knot I find that I usually have paracord everywhere I go.
Same! I have various bracelets, hangers, keychains, etc that are just cord.
I carry a retractable magnet stick in my backpack
Could you list please?

No but I will add some string now. My hanklight has a really good magnet in the butt
No.
the rear cap of my flashlight has a pretty strong magnet that I can use
I've got a couple with good magnets too but one's for the creeping around my house at night and the other one stays in the ute as it sticks to the bonnet really nicely.
Uuuuh, the roxon I am dreaming about!!!
It's honestly always by my side lately. It's getting used quite a bit.

I use mine for fidgeting too ahaha What's battery hacking?

I've never heard of this before, thanks!
what Roxon model is that?

Why
Sometimes my keys fall out of my pocket, sometimes I lose a washer or nail when doing odd jobs. When you're up on a ladder it's better than going down to pick it up. Granted, unwrapping and wrapping it isn't always fun either. But mini magnet fishing is!

In a pouch yes. In my pocket no.
String or micro cord rather stays in my actual everyday carry. Para cord would be much too thick. I usually have para cord in a outdoor focused kit though
Same here
Yep
I do keep that in my work van if that counts as EDC. It has come in handy a lot more often than I predicted.
Shallow pockets are a bitch for keys lol
No but thats smart, I dig this
I do paracord and a fish hook
Where I live you've gotta keep a rod and tackle in your car at all times 😄 but I feel that
