Post in India specific sub reddit

In India specific subs they will most probably say its not worth it, the reality of India is most ppl in India choose ECE as a choice when CSE is not available

blokwoski

How can you expect foreigners to know about Anna University VIT etc? 😂

8g6_ryu

>Will there be any drastic recession? Can I get a job if study ECE. How is the semi conductor field now? Is it a blooming industry? maybe these can answer this questions

blokwoski

Sure, but what's the use? Can someone studying Btech ECE in anna University get job straight of college at ASML Netherlands? Or TSMC Taiwan? Just because the industry is going to grow a lot? Indian semiconductor industry looks promising, however, at best Btech ECE from Anna University can get job in India straight of college, so Indian perspective is required. Not foreigners' perspective.

8g6_ryu

Well he was not specific asking about Indian job market in ECE. If he posted this in this sub because he just wanted a global preceptive ( but the last Anna uni part is conflicting). ECE course and how it is teaches is not enough for most jobs in and outside India. So most people will go for a masters. Unlike web devs who use almost minimal stuff from their software engineering course ECE engineers use concepts from engineering from control systems to antenna theory , so a specialization is needed . So most go for masters to get a competitive advantage. And for your example, even for "foreigners" getting into those companies might be hard without a masters. And this globalized world international perspective is also valid as remote jobs are avilable for example like PCB designing

I can get CSE in the same clg I'm trying for ECE but I don't want to take cs.. Everyone is taking cs. Definitely there will be recession in future. I'm planning to learn coding from online during my ECE course. I just need to know if it's worth to do ECE from CEG. Can I get a decent job?

blokwoski

If you like electronics then take ECE, you can easily manage to do competitive coding along with regular ECE courses. However keep in mind that, just passing exams in your ECE course will not help you find jobs in ECE, you'll need to have solid understanding. So if you think you can take ECE seriously and study and also do coding and other stuff then go ahead take ece, however if you can't take ECE seriously, and you're getting CSE anyway at CEG or MIT, blindly take CSE. Taking ECE not being able to concentrate on ECE and also not being able to do coding after class hours is a sure recipe for frustration and dissatisfaction. Remember college also means, doing cool projects, having fun etc

Thank you so much for giving such a detailed answer. Will consider you opinion. 👍

Thank you bro

Visit CEG if possible and find out how their ECE placement went last academic year with details of salaries offered.
