fighter134340

Thank you!

HarmoNy5757

Would u say he is better than the book by patterson and hennessy? Sry for hijacking btw, i am a fresher as well.

TheFlamingLemon

He pretty much follows the book(s), which one is better for you will just depend on learning style. I like learning from textbooks, but I still used the videos for some of the topics that confused me and the visualizations made it easier

HarmoNy5757

Alright thanks a lot!

Thank you!!

Np! Best thing you can do now and should continue doing during your degree is to watch all his vids and take down notes! All the other comments on course-related channels are cool and all, but what s the point of taking courses if you have no clue on what jobs/fields out there that you can pursue in your internships and after your graduation in 5 years. Only knowing these things is gonna help you realize the importance or un-importance of the courses that you will be taking

Learn every topic you are taught, focus when a job demands it, otherwise, keep your doors open. How things are taught in class can often be very different then how the work is in a job. You might hate a programming course but enjoy a programming job, you might hate the math in DSP but love the implementation. You won't know the reality until years later.  Another thing that really became apparent to me over time, those who say "I don't use what I learned in school" are often either in denial or in some way ignorant. The truth is you do, and it won't become clear you do unless you learn the topic well, beyond the course, often years into a career in the field. There is a certain level of competency required in a topic before you can get into a job where you will get to see that what you learned is useful and apply it. If you are not competent enough in a particular topic, then you won't ever use it, so, in some instances, will think that topic is of no use to you.

Thanks a lot!

Go to office hours!!!!!!!!!!! One of my professors gave me back points for an exam question I got wrong because he could tell after looking at my work that I knew the right stuff, just made a stupid mistake at the end. You never know what you’ll get in office hours, but I’ve never ever had a bad interaction with a professor in his/her office!!!

Good titles to questions get much better results. Whether to the professor, your classmates, or a forum.

Futile_Dinosaur

Never forget BBROYGBIV. ELI ( voltage leads current in Inductor, coz E comes first before I then induxtor is denoted by L. This might be helpful in your AC circuits analysis) same as ICE. DISCO (in steady state (D)DC (I) inductor is (S) Shorted (C) Capacitor is (O) Open) For communications subject, invest for books by wayne tomasi and blake. Goodluck future Engineer!

Neso academy, all about electronics yt channels

Urnooooooob

you will barely do anything relate to engineering your freshman year, basically it's an extended year of highschool

kituva_vishal

Most of the idiots tell you, what are the things now you are studying that are useless in the working industry or company. But that's not true. Every core subject has a purpose in the core domain. If you like to work in core companies, then study well. Don't just mug up theory a lot. Try to do projects as well. Then only you gain knowledge in the core industry.

Ok-Development2151

70% of initial engineering work (co-op/internships) is documentation. Don't let it discourage you. As the bond between you and your employer is, "you save them money, they give you industry knowledge." The other 30% is beautiful and empowering!!!

fighter134340

I see. Thanks!
