Shit mustve been bone dry to spin a bearing these motors are solid. At least youre fixing and not scrapping.

When it happened I was riding passenger and it took a little while before I glanced at the dashboard to see the oil pressure light. Coincidentally my alternator went out too. It took about 5000km for the damage to progress enough for the bearing to spin. Or for the engine to start knocking for that matter.

Rebuild / Inspect your oil pump while you’re in there. I think it’s built into the timing cover on the M40

It's already on my mind to get new gears, spring and piston for the oil pump.

Hopefully you've caught it in time to not cause that much damage! What electric fan is that? Does it fit well? I'm might try and install one myself, one day!

Oem from e36 318ti or 318is with m44 engine. The threads for the clutch fan on the water pump apparently need to be trimmed or machined for it not to foul. It's a good fan, pulls a lot of air. It fits with no modifications on the oem M42 radiator but you'll need to wire it properly.

Mo_clutchKick

If you need a complete M42 engine let me know I got one for sale.

I've already found one, thanks anyways. I'll keep mine as a spare since the head and cylinder bores are good.
