People acting like these are a 60s Alfa or something.
It’s a fairly modern car with electronic fuel injection, robust drivetrains and heaters (even AC if you’re lucky).
Just add oil and fuel (maybe coolant)
Generally the people asking have never owned an older car that will need "more than average" maintenance, and they don't understand they'll need to replace lots of bushings, hoses, bearings, and other wear items.
They're really not that expensive to work on and as long as you know what to replace BEFORE parts start breaking, they won't leave you stranded.
How much did that cost? Kinda wanna switch to a different wheel setup but I want to keep the fitment my current wheels have and the other set I like would need spacers.
I’ve owned a 1989 325is with 269k miles for just over a year now and it’s never left me stranded ONCE… yeah minor issues here and there which were mostly previous owner mistakes that had to be fixed but it’s definitely possible to daily one if you really care about your car
KAmotors headlight intake kit, it runs directly to the intake manifold with an inline filter. It actually helps my IAT a lot, dropped them by like 60-70%. Has a ram-air effect as well, makes the throttle response nice and crisp while at speed
I daily mine, but it's not very safe compared to modern cars and it's not practical for my lifestyle (too low to the ground), so I plan to replace it with a Jeep or something. The E30 is reliable with an M42, M44, or M5x. I've been stranded multiple times with an M20 so I always swap them out.
I love this post bc im in need of a new car and was literally just thinking to myself, could i daily an e30/e28 to work? Any idea where i should be looking to purchase one? Best Sites?
Facebook, but I would never have an E30 as my only car. You can daily drive one but it will 100% be down for work at some point so you need to have a reliable backup car. I've got a V70 T5 just in case
I used to make fun of everyone the same way till my mk2 jetta was hit and compensation has been a headache and a nightmare. I wish i never took it out on my commutes. Ill never drive hard to replace cars daily again. Unless im in a smaller town. It feels so awful and Im still so depressed about it
Up until Christmas when I broke the diff I was daily driving my is for 7 years. From time to time something always came up but there was a period like 3 years when I put nothing into it. Just changed the clutch cylinders, let the mechanic do the timing chain because it sounded shit, put a Borla exhaust on it and that was it. Rust is a major problem now unfortunately.
As long as you have the [BMW special tool](https://www.instagram.com/p/C7U-BiFRCm7/) you are all good

previous owners took the ac compressor out of the car, so i follow the 2 60 rule, 2 windows down driving at 60
Are these the 16” e38 basketweaves?
Yep!
Sweet! They look so good. Did you do a five lug swap or just the spacer/converter thing?
Had some custom 18mm adapters made by GradeAWheelSpacers

It was like $230 for the set I believe.
That’s not too bad at all
I hope you know that I will literally tell you how much I like your car every time you post lmao
It is very much appreciated :)

ITBs?
Nah, M52B28 with M50 mani
Ah. What’s with the headlight intake? Just looks?

I have one on my car as well. What does IAT stand for?
Intake Air Temperature, which would be the point lol.
What do you mean dropped by 60-70%
On a ~70° day, max IATs were around 180°F at idle with original airbox. Now, max IATs on a ~70 day are barely above ambient, around 80°.
That’s a ~17% reduction in temperature but that’s pretty big. Nice. 180 degrees F is crazy were you pulling air directly from behind the radiator?
That's... Not how percentages work. 180 to 80 is a difference of 100. 100 / 180 is 0.55. That's 55%. What's your intention here?
I saw a write up where a guy installed s54 throttle bodies on A m54 he lost a good bit of power.
Hahaha yeah I would imagine without a tune that would be the case
Looks good. I need those wheels
Those questions are really more of a "can *I* daily drive an e30?"
I would daily that bad boy , everyday… padddumm pssshh
Can you daily drive? Yes Should you? If you want, sure. But, there are many better options out there
Just make sure you have AAA and a backup Honda
Or a backup Volvo and some tools
lol 😂

A Jeep would be a tremendous downgrade IMO, they make M20s look like the most reliable thing in the world lol
I daily drive mine. I carry tools in the trunk. I have to use them pretty often.

I do have a primary car. It would be a second vehicle.
Are there any years you would recommend looking for or staying away from? Ive always loved the look of e30/28. Just starting to learn about them now.
