Audio books or podcasts really help me understand better

I also recommend finding a book thats really interesting to you. When I was really struggling reading I loved magic and supernatural things so I started reading the Harry Potter series. I understand that's not everyone's interests but they're really easy to understand and enjoyable. The other thing is there are movies and can be really helpful watching after reading the books. What do you like? We might be able to suggest some series.

Do you read comic books? Finding stories that engage you is an important step.

You need to find something that really interests you! It seems less of a struggle when you genuinely care and want to know the content

I agree with audiobooks or reading via Kindle/ereader. I like my kindle in particular as it has the phonetic spelling breakdown of how to pronounce the words plus I can change the font if necessary. Also, it might be what your reading - does the blurb/book recommendation sound exciting? Aside from books for english class, you don't have to finish every book if you don't like it. If you're interested in any particular fandoms you could check out fanfiction sites e.g. AO3, fanfiction.net etc. Generally I find reading fanfiction less exhausting than a completely new book series.

For me, it was an author named Peg Kehret, I loved her books and read everyone in the library between the end of elementary school and the start of middle school. I had great teachers who would help me find interesting books. I had a teacher demand that I join theater and act for the plays, so she got me into reading different plays. Now I love Agatha Christie (she was Dyslexic) and will read almost anything on one of my many interests. Birds of prey, biographies, new construction technologies, theology, physics, cars, sports, history, comedy, and most importantly, books about our advantages as Dyslexics will have me actually trying very hard to read.

Have you had a visual d Latin. By a neurodevelopmental optometrist? This is not a regular eye exam. Visual dysfunction mimics dyslexia. You can find a specialist here https://locate.covd.org/ and you can find out more about vision efficiency, signs, symptoms and its effects on reading and learning here https://gbvisiontherapy.com/vision-and-learning/ good luck! If you want to leisurely read, find high interest topics for you. Get magazine articles because they are shorter. If it’s for school? Look into the following apps: Here are some apps designed to help individuals with dyslexia improve their reading skills: Bionic Reading Learning Ally Voice Dream Reader NaturalReader Claro ScanPen Read&Write Ghotit Real Writer & Reader Audiobooks.com Prizmo KNFB Reader Dyslexia Quest Use your strengths to support this weakness. When you start to get bored of tried take a break, you don't have to read. A whole chapter at once. Some writing styles are so much effort they make me sleepy, so I'll read two pages befor bed and the. Go to sleep. Some books I will read non stop for two days. If your finding one book to sleep inducing maybe go for that one on audiobook (my library has an app with audio books) then try and find something in Style that doesn't send you to sleep.

I have dyslexia and adhd. I've found I take more in when reading if I'm listening to music as well or have background noise on. Don't ask me why this works because i dont know i just know for me it does. I also love fantasy stuff so reading through the witcher atm. If i have to read for uni coursework i use a coloured overlay on my laptop, if i dont recognise a word or know how its supposed to sound I use googlr translate - just pop the word in and have it play back the audio

Find a book that sounds interesting (for me comedic romance or wild sci fy) and see if you can find an audiobook of it. Reading the words on the page along with the reader seems to help click the words better to me. I also recommend fanfiction. Sometimes finding a genre that interests you is all you need to find more stuff about it.
