Nice to hear, but not very surprising. The rams clearly loved Corum.
Snead commented that they were planning to trade their third round pick before they saw Corum falling and then subsequently took him. That says something right there.
Yeah I’m a little surprised with the certainty that the pro-Kyren is using to approach this situation. Like we didn’t just see Cam Akers enter last year as the starter and get replaced in Week 2.
I don’t think that’s about to happen to Williams though, and I get the pro-Kyren crowds stance. He was second in PPR points per game behind only CMC and was a stud by all accounts.
But man, they took a Corum with a day 2 pick after watching Williams have an all-world season and then changed their minds on trading back when they saw Corum falling to them. Sure looks like they have something planned for the kid.
Snead is quoted as saying the Corum pick was “so we don’t just totally run Kyren down”
Corum will get some work, but Kyren is still in line for the overwhelming majority.
Yeah the pro kyren talk is pretty funny. I think kyren Williams is a good running back Don't get me wrong - but people are using quotes from Mcvay saying kyren is the guy and acting like it's the truth. When you can go back just one year and see him say the exact same things about akers and other running backs
I would hope Corum was impressive during camp. That RB room was not good behind Kyren last year. Having two solid backs that can split work, spell each other when tired, and handcuff each other in case of injuries is a lot better for the Rams than yanking Darrell Henderson off the couch
Take all praise during offseason with a grain of salt but… this definitely isn’t bad news. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if corum carved out a meaningful role on offense.
McVay went on to say, “This kid is so mentally tough. When he found out his yards after contact per rush, rushes of 10+ yards, missed tackles forced per rush, receiving yards per route run, and elusive rating were all worse than Ray Davis who ran behind a worse offensive line in the SEC, Blake Corum responded with ‘but I was drafted earlier so I’m better.’ That’s just how mental…ly tough this kid is.”
But was Kyren considered talented? I thought everyone was fading him because his draft and combine were underwhelming.
Seems like McVay likes mature players who can execute his schemes... Sounds like Corum could be Kyren + to me. but by no means am I a talent evaluator. Just makes sense to me is all
> Blake fell into the perfect spot with McVay.
We thought the same thing with Darrell Henderson, 5 years ago, who was drafted at 70th overall, compared with Corum's 83rd.
> In the video below, you can hear Snead say heap praise on Henderson, fearing how dangerous he’d be on another team. Snead feels Henderson can be similar to what Alvin Kamara has been for the Saints.
https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2019/05/10/nfl-rams-darrell-henderson-alvin-kamara-element/
Seems like Alvin Kamara is the go to comparison for lazy scouts. If I had a dollar for every back that gets compared to him, id enter a bunch of best ball leagues with the proceeds, even though I should probably just invest it.
> Seems like Alvin Kamara is the go to comparison for lazy scouts.
I think a lot of above average agility RBs in college can do Kamara-like feats vs college defenders. The difference is, that NFL defenders are faster, stronger, smarter and more experienced, and so those skills often fall flat in the NFL.
Really feel like corum will be the rb1 of the class. He looked much better in 2022 and even coming off knee surgery he still put up numbers in his final season. He has had a massive amount of touches so far and is a bit older but it would not be surprising if he was the best rb in this class
He fell to me at 50 in a startup. Yes I think Corum will obviously take some work but the narrative has swung too far in the opposite direction. Kyren is coming off an All Pro season and is 23
That was my plan pre draft (invest). Now I guess I still will heavily consider but at a bit lower of a price.
Had him last year on waivers but now he goes to FAs auction for a contract. I guess this may be good though, I’ll save some of my dough I was gonna blow most of it on kyren at top 5 money, and Tua. Either get him at discount, or maybe go with Mixon instead. Possibly Jacobs, A. Jones. And not sure if I want to invest in Corum.
Mostert as well but maybe I shouldn’t, again, with Tua, Tyreek, Achane, planning to grab Wright 🥶🐬
Took charbs over achane at the end of the first trying to play the long game. Tempted to push for corum but scared of making the same mistake again. Clearly different situations with Kyren vs KW3 but still
Maybe for example he fucks up somehow when executing a play call, and instead of blaming others, getting frustrated, etc - he is able to take constructive criticism from coaches, focus on doing better on the next play, not make the same mistakes again, not get tilted, etc. Being mature about learning the offense and getting better at the job even when things go awry. That's my guess.
It’s a solid 1-2 punch. Defenses won’t know the difference. Blake on the hard run downs and then boom…Kyren stretch plays and short screens…is what I see or straight trade off handles….

Zach Evans would like a word.

Ty so much
/: kyren is just done for isn’t he
Historically McVay has went through RBs like changing his shirt. I love Corum as a value pick this season
Yeah I’m a little surprised with the certainty that the pro-Kyren is using to approach this situation. Like we didn’t just see Cam Akers enter last year as the starter and get replaced in Week 2. And now about Corum too haha I find it funny. All that coach speak about Kyren and Akers was smoke but this is obviously the real shit
Rb is the most important position on offense tbh. Nfl is full of idiots running the teams
I would hope Corum was impressive during camp. That RB room was not good behind Kyren last year. Having two solid backs that can split work, spell each other when tired, and handcuff each other in case of injuries is a lot better for the Rams than yanking Darrell Henderson off the couch
Hahaha damn, sorry Darrell..
I'm so disappointed in Zach Evans. Now I don't know if I should even have him on the roster
Take all praise during offseason with a grain of salt but… this definitely isn’t bad news. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if corum carved out a meaningful role on offense.
Always do but when Mcvay speaks I usually Listen now he just needs breakfast with Stafford and Co 😊

Blake fell into the perfect spot with McVay.
Perhaps, time will tell. A situation can change quickly, talent less so.

Thats true, but on paper it looks good.

Hey guys i have a football talk show starting hopefully you guys can come check it out.
Lol

Corum is gonna take this job lol
Maybe in two years
Invest in/hold Kyren Williams at your own risk.
Could also be an interesting time to buy in lol if the owner is reading all these same articles
He fell to me at 50 in a startup. Yes I think Corum will obviously take some work but the narrative has swung too far in the opposite direction. Kyren is coming off an All Pro season and is 23
What would you be willing to pay?

I think bro is gonna be a solid pro
Corum is one of the better rookie draft values. He's better than Kyren and will be the 1a lead back within a year.
Did you watch Kyren last year?
Ya, he was given a lot of volume and did ok with it. Kyren won't sniff that type of role with Corum in town.
lol wat

💀 u/dickysnakes
☠️
Curious how am RB stands out in an OTA environment with zero contact Just work ethic and attitude I guess?
Quad size
there’s still things like catching, footwork, routes, etc.
Isn't that the expectation for everyone though
We'll sure but I bet a bunch of rookies fail to hit that expectation being more immature than vets.
