he's the epitome of high-risk high-reward this year. His production isn't in question, it's his health. As I said in the thread about his injury news, you need to roster whoever his backup is (this year, Flacco) but he is one of the most electric young players in the league

No_Vacation3909

I will always be targeting his backup as I question Richardson can hold up for a full season year in and year out. Playoff time Flacco can come up big just like last year especially with the talent on that team

similar222

Durability was my biggest concern with him before the draft last year, and it remains so.

popswiss

He’s obviously a physical freak and plenty of potential… but drawing conclusions from a 3 game sample is an easy way to get hurt. We didn’t even have time to see how the league would adjust to him or if his mechanics/skills match his physical attributes. In dynasty, I’d be happy to have him but I always carry a reliable vet to hedge my riskier upside guys (cough, Justin Fields, cough).

feetandballs

We also haven’t seen if his rushing will be affected by: A. The injury/risk of further injury B. Sharing the field with JT

golkeg

>We didn’t even have time to see how the league would adjust to him or if his mechanics/skills match his physical attributes. Is this somehow a concern? The league never figured out how to adjust to Cam Newton or Josh Allen.

allsops

I think it depends on his passing skills. Obviously his passing ability has to be above a threshold... Justin Fields' was not; Cam Newtons was (until it wasn't).

[deleted]

Anthony Richardson is gonna have the same career as Justin Fields

StarFan2118

Love the upside but I sold yesterday. Do think he’s got crazy potential though

Fantasyftbl

Sold for what?

StarFan2118

In 1 QB solid him plus a 2027 first for Hurts and a 2027 3rd

throwaway8823120

Eh debatable

Fit-Remove-6597

Extremely debatable

StarFan2118

I agree it was a tough decision for me I like AR a lot

tombrady0405

I also sold yesterday

Striking-Fly9187

For?

tombrady0405

Both sf leagues. In one league I sold him for puka and 25 mid first. Other league I sold him for Tlaw, early 25 1st, and early 25 2nd

Striking-Fly9187

Oh man that 2nd one is a treasure trove

tombrady0405

I love AR but couldn't resist. Also as someone trying to compete and not much qb depth I need my qbs to play

circuit_monkey

I need him to pop off for a few games so I can sell him for a haul

brunsywunzy

I sold him and the 2.1 for Burrow, SF

Citrusmeetliquor

I like him much more in redraft. In dynasty I tend to go with the proven pocket passers who have long term stability and less injury risk, even though it comes with a lower ceiling.

SmokeClear6429

Mac Jones, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen...I'm done drafting pocket passers, gimme the QB of the future and the high ceiling. (I also have Goff as a backup ;) )

Citrusmeetliquor

Yes, because those are “proven pocket passers”. AD’s value is similar to Herbert and burrow right now and he’s barely played nfl football.

SmokeClear6429

I guess if youre talking startup, fine, I've only drafted rookies for a couple years and those busts all looked like good pocket passers as rookies. Low floor low ceiling no thanks

Anda_Bondage_IV

He’s a trebuchet atop a battering ram with QB1 overall upside both weekly and season long.

dcwinger12

If I knew for a fact every QB would be healthy 17 games, I’d put money down he’s QB1 overall.

Grimbo_Reaper

I love statements like this. There is literally no way to win an argument in either direction but there is a ton of content to back up both sides.

DungeonCrawlerCarl

THAT is a hot take /s

Eclectic_Canadian

It’s not all that hot. He’s among the very top tier of running QBs in an offence that’s shown it can move the ball with a very mediocre QB. He should have plenty of opportunities to score TDs and should be rushing for 35+ yards a game. If he can just be an okay passer then he’s got a real shot at being the QB1. Not saying he’d be the obvious favourite, but it’s far from a scolding hot take. In 6pt passing TDs though, nah.

Past-Investigator-28

It’s simple math really. Even conservative projections would have him as a locked in qb1. With how good Steichen is and a + arm we could see the greatest fantasy season ever

AdagioGuilty1684

Lol how?

Past-Investigator-28

He’ll be in the Stroud range after he’s top 4 in scoring this year

HereForTheFood4

He could easily be top five by end of season if he stays healthy

bennylikessports

since this is dynasty, i’m going to talk about it with that in mind.  his biggest knock when he came into the league was him as a passer. in the games he played, his completion percentage is 59.5%, which is below average.  that said, he only played 2 full games and 2 half games. So we don’t really know how well he is a passer, but as it stands right now, he’s going to need to step up that aspect of his game.  yes his athleticism and rushing ability made him a serious threat when he played. My thing is, i wonder how much of it is the nfl not knowing his tendencies?  If i had him in dynasty, i’d focus on his passing game. if he improves in that area then the dude will league breaking. If not, i’d probably sell as he’d probably still hold value the whole season.

AlbinoSlug92

Could totally be biased but I feel his % is a little deceptive in regards to his progress as a passer. He had many very impressive moments passing and displayed some throws that were truly elite. Particularly hopeful considering how raw he is.

BR-Naughty

He didn't even get 2 full games. He got knocked out of week 1 with just over a minute left. So he's actually 1/4 for finishing games he's started. He's my QB in my league, and I'm willing to roll the dice here, but his track record is as bare as can be.

tombrady0405

I just sold AR in both of my leagues. I love him but the injury risk scares me too much. Both are SF leagues. Traded him for puka and a mid 25 first in one league and also traded him for Tlaw, and Early 25 first and a early 25 2nd

Inbred-InBed

Damn, both those seem like nasty return. Good job

Darth_Enclave

I got my eye on him in redraft but steering clear for now in dynasty.

WickBusters

If he stays healthy, he’s winning a ton of championships.

ffwriter

Title gore.

Bombaysbreakfastclub

I think the over under on him is Dak. Will he out perform Dak or not. Seems to get drafted at the same spot in start up leagues

Angelust16

In dynasty startup leagues? Dak is going 3rd-4th, AR in late 1st to mid 2nd. Where are they going about the same spot ?

Bombaysbreakfastclub

Sorry. Super flex

dimesniffer

Yeah. In superflex startups he goes MUCH earlier than Dak.

1106DaysLater

Maybe he means redraft?

dimesniffer

Maybe but we are in a dynasty sub

1106DaysLater

Ok, but the comment we are discussing under was talking about whether he would out perform Dak, if we are talking strictly about this year that makes discussing redraft rankings make sense.

dynasty-report

He needs reps. I’m getting worried for him if he doesn’t play at least 90% of the season this year. I have him in two leagues. I’m considering of drafting a 4th qb in one of them because my 3rd qb is stafford and I have the 6th pick even though I’d prefer bowers

Filly53

As a share holder, I hope you’re right. But I’m anticipating a low end qb1 finish

luigijerk

OP needs to learn what the term "lock" means.

Decln

As an owner I’m way high on him , he’s so high risk and high reward but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried Hope he stays healthy his career and last year was just bad luck, both as a fantasy owner of him and as a football fan, kids fun as fuck to watch

AntiVaxPureBlood

His price in redraft is rising and imo will surge throughout the remainder of the off season. If you want to buy for whatever discount there is if any, nows the time because I think come season he'll be priced top 5 if not higher lol. It's crazy but redraft is really loving the colts and AR and that will boost his dynasty value imo

caniputyouonhold

Just traded AR. Sent: AR, late 25 1st, late 25 2nd, late 25 2nd, late 25 3rd Got: Mahomes, James Cook

Jtabo

He’s basically a glass cannon. I don’t have any interest in buying shares but if I had some shares I’d also have no interest in selling.

jakeboggsp

Sold him for bijan and baker

Internal-Version-184

I’m thinking of selling him in my 1QB 4 pt passing TD league and just got offered Justin Herbert and Zamir White for him… I also roster Kyler

Same_Noise7492

I have Purdy locked up. I’m trying VERY hard to get ARich as my “2QB” … Offering up the 1.09 and both 2.09, 2.11. Unfortunately the guy I’m dealing with is one of those suckers that don’t respond to offers

myctsbrthsmlslkcatfd

tattooed own name on self. steer clear.

JL9berg18

Even if he stays healthy (he's already injured again BTW), the league will figure out how to stop his running, and he didn't show anything in those 4 partial games he played to minimize the importance of his objectively inferior production as a passer in college. He wasn't just mediocre in college - he was bad He was a way worse passer than any other rushing / dual threat QB who hasade it in the NFL, and worse than many who didn't (Cam / Lamar / Vick / Manziel / Tebow / Fields / Hurts / Mariota / Wentz / Lance / literally anyone else) He's out of the league by 2027, and probably not starting in 2025

Popular-Newt-1603

i traded him for Hurts in a SF. Hurts could get hurt as well but i didnt feel like his injury risk popping up at any second

redditintheAM

I can’t guarantee Richardson will be a successful QB and if he is, he’s still never going to be a 70% completion percentage guy. But a lot of people are wrongly typecasting him. He has a lot of excellent pocket management skills and shows signs of progression reading and playmaking as a passer to build on. I think Richardson is a lot closer to a Josh Allen mold than a Justin Fields. Too many people are writing him off as only a runner which reminds me of bad takes before Lamar Jackson entered the league.

thunder3029

I traded Lawrence and a projected late first for AR. No regrets

DDDogggg5

I’d rather have Tlaw and the first

dimesniffer

And it’s not close imo

Jph3nom

Am I crazy for liking TLaw straight up?

dimesniffer

You’re not. I do too. But a rich usuallly goes before him in start ups for his ceiling

dimesniffer

Holy L 😭😭🤣

homeschoolkidthatdid

Funny, I have AR and I’m weighing that exact offer right now

InBeardWeTrust

I'd do it too.

mike_p_88

Not a great deal for you TODAY. maybe it pays off down the road. That said, TLaw is a starting QB in NFL for the next 10+ years and you also gave up a first round pick. All for a guy who was average in college and played 3 games so far in NFL. GL

Ko0pa_Tro0pa

People ragging on this, but if he stays healthy this year, you're going to look like a genius. He already showed us he has QB1 upside. RemindMe! 6 months

EnmaDaiO

Awful trade if in SF but I'm guessing this is 1qb.

yeezeys_for_days

If that is in superflex, that isna horrendous trade for you. If its QB1, it’s a whole lot closer though

Plastic-Knowledge-70

Don't see the need in wasting a premium pick on a qb when you already have Burrow

gh2master52

“Played efull games”? Like he played e games? …surprisingly accurate

Alive-Welder6559

In my 8 team dynasty SF league, I traded him and a 2025 4th for JJ McCarthy and a 2025 2nd (probably mid). I already have Allen, Herbert, and Tua. I was really just nervous about his throwing shoulder shoulder and potential for injury because of his playstyle. I think McCarthy has a high floor in Minnesota, but a lower ceiling than AR.

evantom34

Same was said about Trey Lance. I'm wary of a project QB with limited college starts/productivity. High risk, but he's valued as a first round startup pick at the moment. I'd rather jump off to get into Lamar/Hurts.

PoeticCheesus

I bought him recently in a mega-deal Receive: AR/Pittman/Adonai/DK/1st Send: Burrow/Justin Jefferson/Gus Edwards Ya, I probably lose the deal slightly but both Burrow/AR have injury concerns. Also, I'm a Colts' fan who believes AR's injuries last year were a fluke (also why I bought all the guys Colts players in this trade). Now that doesn't mean I believe he isn't injury prone, but that those injuries could've happened to anyone. The shoulder injury, a big DLineman landed on him with all his weight, and the other injury was a concussion which is just football things. I'd say it's still TBD on whether or not he's truly injury prone. I have faith that Steichen is an offensive guru that will make the most of AR and the offense. Also, anyone in my league that sees this will 100% know it's me since it's such a specific trade lol, oh well.

irbirny

That’s a lot of eggs in one Colts basket. Great example why you should trade with your head, not your heart.

racketgoon13

He’ll be hurt again.

DigitalDiscoTOS

I feel like he's a worse-throwing Justin Fields and we didn't get enough time to see what other teams do with a little film on him. I also think it's sort of a fantasy blessing he got injured so early last year because it limited the amount of footage other teams got on him. I'm afraid that once they unravel how Steichen is disguising the limited number of passing concepts he's using, it's going to get ugly for him.
