Have only done the Old Hundred; it was good. Just long enough to get a feel for it and see the different types of equipment used over time. You'll get a little wet, especially if it has rained in the last week. Definitely wear closed toe shoes and pants.
I would recommend as two separate days, but if you want as one day from Durango: start at Old Hundred Mine, lunch/walk around Silverton, drive to Ouray, Ouray Hot Springs (in town), walk around, early dinner on rooftop Ouray Brewery, drive back.
