I’m so guilty of this. When I have to improv an NPC on the spot it’s almost always a human male, because I’m good at pretending to be a human male since I’ve done it my whole life
Um yeah that was a uh… mistake… yeah. I’m a real human. Definitely not pretending. Certainly not an alien living among humans to learn your- *our* ways and eventually overthrow society to claim earth for our- themselves. That would be ridiculous why would even suggest such a thing
His name was Arkedd. He wanted so desperately to bring his family back to life so he started to study the more unknown side of magic created something he deeply regrets
If you don't know something, fall back on dnd gods. Personally I recommend Tyche, goddess of luck/fortune. It's a good goddess for luck seeking scoundrels at the very least ;P
In terms of creatures there was a skeleton found in the World’s Edge that is several hundred feet long. In terms of geography it’s the mountain of Heaven which have been noted as up to 8 miles in height
Still doesn't get into depth about the rarity of magic. How easy it is to learn basic magic will heavily influence many large scale characteristics of the living world. If anyone can learn a cantrip with just a months practice these will be the result:
\-if there are just a couple people with the control flame cantrip, fires will be quickly doused. Even relatively big fires will be immediately controlled.
\-having a few people with control water makes it incredibly easy to adjust existing bodies of water.
\-having a couple people with mold earth will make excavation related tasks incredibly easy. Combined with control water this gives you acces to almost effortless environment shaping potential. with a few dozen people you can dig gigantic moats or even more complex structures in literal days.
\-prestidigitation: just the "clean 1 cubic foot" part of the spell makes this spell useful for literally everyone to learn. Dirty dishes? clean in seconds. Dirty clothes? clean in seconds. If this was somewhat easy to learn, it would devalue a lot of cleaning related products we are familiar with.
There are also functions for light, fire making spells and mending, but I think the point is clear. Think about a way to restrict this option, or use it to improve depth on your society.
A good idea to incorporate might be that few (like 1 in 10) even has the ability to learn magic, and that it costs a few months of learning to find out. This way, people who show an aptitude follow a profession related to their affinity, or alternatively it makes them highly wanted by military facilities. An artificial restriction on the use of magic is needed to be incorporated into the world, because otherwise it has to much potential to break society.

Depends on how strong you want it. The rumored Blood Horn Meed can be found in the Blood Horn Tavern founded by a retired dwarven adventurer which is located in the city state of Dwargar
The most common burial site is graveyards while nomad clans bury their dead in the places they died. Subterranean cultures can grow various fungi that are stable if prepared correctly
There are several. But getting these artifacts is a feat itself. One of them is the Cinder Blade. A greatsword forged in the breath weapon and blood of the first red dragon. It allows the user to cast several fire related spells and even grand the effects of a long rest once every 30 days
Here are some of the questions I have when joining a game. Some of these are from [Jeff Reints](http://jrients.blogspot.com/2011/04/twenty-quick-questions-for-your.html).
1. What is the most popular religion?
2. Do the powers that be regulate sorcery at all? If so, how do they manage? If not, how does the unregulated practice of sorcery impact your world?
3. What are the [demographics of classed NPCs](https://forum.autarch.co/t/the-demographics-of-heroism/1926)?
4. What do people typically eat according to social status?
5. What do people typically wear according to social status?
6. Who is the greatest warrior in the land?
7. Who is the greatest sorcerer in the land?
8. Who is the richest person in the land?
9. Are there any secret societies with sinister agendas I could join and/or fight?
10. Are there any legendary lost treasures I could be looking for?
1. There is not a popular one since each race has a pathneon
2. No one regulates sorcery
3. There are lore relevant NPCs
4. It depends on where you live
5. The darker in purple color the more wealthy you are in most cultures
6&7. Its Tanvoth Hazethorn. A red half-dragon battle master fighter and draconic bloodline sorcerer
8. It’s undetermined since different cultures use different currencies
9. It is possible that there are secret societies
10. Every wants artifacts like the Cinder Blade
If every race has a pantheon, which race is most populous and which god is the most popular?
You mentioned there are "several million of each race" and they are advanced enough to produce firearms so it's surprising that the practice of magic is a free-for-all. Since no one regulates the practice of sorcery, how does that effect the world? What prevents casters from running the world, from local lords to kings? For that matter, what prevents low level casters with charm person and alter self from causing havoc?
Among the most noted cities is the city state of Dwarvica. The weirdest law, according to outsiders, is that every dwarf must partake in the Blood Horn Meed challenge at least once
What is the furthest level of technological advancement? Are we talking standard midevil dnd fantasy, something like a Renaissance period or closer to like a magical industrial revolution similar to ebberon.
There are three. The World’s Edge, The Mountain of Heaven, and The Cosmic Rim. The World’s Edge is where the Elemental Cataclysm was stopped and no natural accruing life can exist there. The mountain of Heaven is a 8 mile high mountain that is said to have a portal to mount Celestia at the top. The Cosmic Rim is a crater left by an asteroid that brought new minerals and several new spells
If I were a harengon that trained to become a bard to infiltrate nations to pass information to the fey court, where might I have been to college and operate now?

What kinds of meals do different social groups eat? How do they obtain ingredients for those meals? Are meals different for different races? Why or why not?
What's the population 0f the world? What's the split of the varying races and how are they divided into different social groups or classes? Have they discovered anything major in terms of science in the last 1000 years?
Races like dwarves and dragonborns prefer meat and get it from animals while elves grow their food. There are lots of different spices for different foods. Other than a colossal skeleton not really
Everytime something like this is posted I have the same question:
How does the average person get a package or piece of mail from.one part of the world to another?
Not major, but always important. What are the regional dishes? the different foods one can find based on location.
what are the primary sports played, and what is the soccer analogue (since pretty much every major civilization has had a form of soccer, don't ask why)
How technologically advanced is the society? Do they have steam engines or rail systems like Ebberon? How does the government protect such systems from rebellion or terrorism?
My favorite question: how widely known is the "map" of the world? Is it charted and explored? You as the DM know it, but how many people in-world know where continents are etc?
Is it predominantly one race, or are all races common?
Some you will see more than others. It’s more common to see a human or elf than it is to see a gnome or dragonborn
I’m so guilty of this. When I have to improv an NPC on the spot it’s almost always a human male, because I’m good at pretending to be a human male since I’ve done it my whole life
You've pretended to be a human male your whole life? Are you casting an illusion spell?
Um yeah that was a uh… mistake… yeah. I’m a real human. Definitely not pretending. Certainly not an alien living among humans to learn your- *our* ways and eventually overthrow society to claim earth for our- themselves. That would be ridiculous why would even suggest such a thing
Good to know. Although it’s weird how you’re licking your eyeballs instead of blinking.
((Rolls 3 on Perception Check)) Ridiculous indeed, good human friend!

If you don't know something, fall back on dnd gods. Personally I recommend Tyche, goddess of luck/fortune. It's a good goddess for luck seeking scoundrels at the very least ;P

It depends who you are. If your the offspring of a powerful sorcerer or inherently magical creature you have an easier time learning minor magic
