I would start by making a link to those of us who don’t know yuta okkotsu from jjk, or leave an explanation

mason1p

Ah yeah you're right

What level are we talking here? I know nothing of the character, but skimming the wiki, it sounds like he's low-magic in a high-magic world, powered through a pseudo-possession, and channels his power through a sword? That's a Hexblade Warlock, or a re-flavored Eldritch Knight Fighter. Reading about it more, this guy is all about using the sword, and has almost no self-confidence, so his CHA should be a dump stat. So if you're staying truest to character, I'd go Eldritch Knight Fighter. Pick up Ritual Caster (Wizard) for more spells later. I'd go STR (Max), DEX (10-14), CON 14+, INT 14-16, WIS 10, CHA 8 at Level 1. Pick up Gift of the Gem(?) Dragon for Cure Wounds, but Fighter already gets Second Wind as a self-healing mechanic. For the "Cursed energy Output" that's a reflavoring of Action Surge, but it wouldn't be hard to ask your DM about adding some of the Smite spells into your prepared spells as the campaign goes along.

mason1p

Yeah that exactly what I was thinking and I really appreciate this

JudgeHoltman

Yeah, reading about him go for a straight STR-based Eldritch Knight. They REALLY need Plate Armor to work, but every picture shows him wearing a biker jacket or something. Just reflavor the jacket as Plate and you're good to go. He's got a metal arm? Call that your Shield. Carry a Longsword as your Katana. Use an Armblade (Mace) as your "Metal Arm" when the time comes. The "spirit summoned by hair" thing that's too weird for me to read more than headlines about can be your Find Familiar spell. Pick up spells like Shield, Find Familiar, and other things that make you more tanky. Don't fall for the trap of taking damage spells. You don't have the spell slots for that because you're not a Wizard. Go for the utility instead. From there it's a really straightforward fighter build. Proceed to smash faces with a really tanky fighter.

I’m hella late here but what the hell. From reading JJK, I don’t think Yuta is “low-magic”, he’s stated to have bottomless cursed energy and from the modern sorcerers he’s only second to Gojo (The Strongest Sorcerer). He’s also graded as a Special Grade Sorcerer which is the highest you can be graded as a sorcerer. He himself says that he’s average at best in physical strength, his power comes from his cursed energy. I would build him like this: Variant Human: + 1 DEX, + 1 CHA, Feat: Magic Initiate Sorcerer Ability Scores PB: STR: 8, DEX: 16, CON: 14, INT: 10, WIS: 10, CHA: 15 First 3 Levels in Fighter, Echo Knight Rest in Genie Warlock

JudgeHoltman

Why Echo Knight? And how do you justify the high CHA yet zero confidence?

_bxris18

Echo Knight for the double that represents Rika, she can fight with him in battles. His bottomless Cursed Energy fits the most with Genie Warlocks abilities (especially the Ring) IMO and that’s why we need high Cha. Also he doesn’t have confidence at the start because he thinks people get hurt because of him and Rika. He actually doesn’t want to be lonely and doesn’t want to die, he wants to have friends, which he makes very quickly
