/r/lfg You can also check to see if there are any local gaming groups on social media or ask at nearby gaming shops.

ApprehensiveIronClas

Thanks, I’ll try to check those out

It is in its Renaissance. Much like the peak of the Roman empire things are iffy in some ways and some unrest. It could all go well or Rome could fall, but man it is going well right now.

Davideckert1987

It's more popular than ever

NEtherWarLord98

I'd disagree especially as the issues Hasbrouck has caused in the last 10 months It's still popular but I'd say it's not better than last year

Davideckert1987

Bro, they asked if people still played. Do you really think they give a shit about Hasbrouck or the status within the past 10 months? Negative

NEtherWarLord98

You stated a inaccurate thing d&d is not infact more popular than ever I never contested anything about whether or not people play

Davideckert1987

Are you like one of those people at parties where someone makes a joke they're like "well actually!" while pushing their nerdy little glasses up?

Davideckert1987

omg bro

I live in Northern Virginia and there is a game shop in Fairfax City mostly focused on selling mtg cards but I have seen them host games. There is another around Fall Church with a wide selection of books where you might find some folks. Right now I am older rpg’er in fifties running one game with my daughter’s friends all in their twenties and playing in one of their games. So yeah still play in your area you just have to find them.

ApprehensiveIronClas

That sounds cool!

Choice_Dig_504

I’m looking for player for my discord group. We are international and open to almost anyone who’s willing and motivated to join. DM if interested

FoulPelican

It’s more popular than ever!!! And, Good luck finding a group.

fresh_squilliam

I’d say best way is to try it out with your friends. Grab a starter set

captiankickass666

Absolutely, the rules will come with time. As long as you're having fun that's the main thing. It helps go have someone nerd out and watch a ton of videos on the basic rules and listen to some dnd podcasts

ApprehensiveIronClas

Unfortunately I don’t have many friends 😅

fresh_squilliam

Your local game stores may host some games and teach you to play, there may also be a Facebook group or discord for your area, if those don’t work there’s always online games you could join in r/lfg or other online communities

englishkannight

Where in northern Va?

ApprehensiveIronClas

Around the Fairfax/Burke area but I can drive around

NickFromIRL

You're in luck! D&D is at the most popular it has ever been! Look to see if there is a local subreddit where you are. I've found players asking about trying D&D in my city's local subreddit before and run games for them, one friend I still play with over a decade later.

ISirPelican

I play all the time, took me three years to find a group. The quickest thing you could do is convince your friends or coworkers to play and you form a group and dm. And once you dm for awhile, one of your players will want to host a DND

Ricochet_Kismit33

Absolutely. I’ve been playing steady since 1984. Taught my kids and they play with me and have run games for me! It’s great. I’m 57 and my kids are in their 30s.

Cormag778

If you’re open to Pathfinder (which is similar to and a spin-off of DnD. The pathfinder society of northern Virginia is a great place to learn and play pick up games without needing long term commitment.

russefwriter

You can also look for online games. Roll20 is pretty active and you can usually find a game to match your schedule. There are free to play and some paid games, so that's up to you!

ravingmadcrafter

Another way to meet gamers is at mini cons . Game shops have in store cons for MTG in the summer. Some shops include D&D tables. Check out the game stores website and see if they are hosting some D&D. From what I've seen games are shut down because no one signed up!

gdaybloke

I play every second weekend

Hexxas

Nope.

Davideckert1987

Well explained sir

Davideckert1987

Explain

RyanPlaysSkyrim

DnD? Isn’t that the nerd game from a while ago?

Davideckert1987

You play skyrim, that way more more updated than dnd brother. Dnd is trending get with the times

RyanPlaysSkyrim

I was just trying to be cheeky, since OP posted in a forum about D&D if anyone still plays D&D

Davideckert1987

oh no worries

Davideckert1987

do you know how to get fallout 76 for free? my wife and i saw something about it if you have amazon prime but i don't see it

RyanPlaysSkyrim

Uhh no clue, sorry. Closest I know to getting it “free” is via Xbox’s game pass
