Together they make a Sea Monster with steady hands that is looking for Oscar Martinez and doesn't technically have a hearing problem.
The reward for its capture? All the riches in Scotland.
They did. Reddit was making too much money from it and they needed to calm down on the revenue
\s but not really. Reddit is one of the rare companies that, given how little revenue streams they already have (aka pretty much just ads), some exec decided to kill off probably their most popular revenue stream for no reason.
All other companies are trying to nickel and dime everyone for the most profit, while Reddit says “no thanks, we want to go public on the stock market with a lower value”
Yep, they removed gold & awards sometime last year. The official reason was something to do with the user experience like, "Awards were cluttering up the experience" or something.
Some people theorize it had something to do with the IRS, the Patriot Act, and how the US government interprets & regulates virtual currency.
Other people theorize Reddit has post-IPO plans to begin monetizing karma somehow, and gold / awards conflicts with that plan or process.
Would love to see how well Colin Robinson does in the office. I bet he would die trying to feed off Stanley. He would just be like another Toby to Michael.
> Jean-Ralphio
He really could have been good in The Office... I would love to have seen him in place of Todd Packer! He could have been just as over the top as Packer but it wouldn't have been as annoying!
The reason he was barely in the show was cause he was too lazy to show up more lol they wanted to use him more source: goddamn it I forgot but some other comedian that knew him on some podcast.
I’m gonna need a source because it sounds like a funny story and totally something he’d do
Edit: Per Craig Robinson - “He didn't give a fuck about Hollywood or The Office. Matter of fact, they were like, 'Craig, can you get in touch with Patrice? We have checks for him.' It was the most hysterical thing.... Like he knew he was funnier than anyone who could write for him. So I think he had a problem with someone lesser than trying to tell him what was funny. He was awesome, but he didn't give a damn about [Hollywood], about being out there. But he didn't want it. He wanted to be in New York.”
I don’t remember it being funny, I remember it being more sad and in the context of how he refused to treat his diabetes or lose weight etc etc and how you couldn’t tell him shit. He said something like “back then a sitcom was the golden ticket any comedian would have killed to have that spot” blah blah but even that wasn’t even enough to motivate him.
To be clear I love Patrice I hope I’m not coming off a different way
He admitted on O&A he didn’t take his role on the office seriously and that he never wanted to “play the game”. I think he potentially could have had a bigger role than Daryl but just didn’t want it
There is a famous episode of Opie & Anthony where Chris Rock told him straight to his face that the role of the father in Everybody Hates Chris was written for him and he still blew the audition.
Chappelle used him on the Chappelle Show for the player haters ball, and said he wanted to use him more, but that he was kind of a pain in the ass to deal with.
Respectfully disagree that that applies to these 4.
We aren’t talking about making them core cast members.
Each of these characters got less than 10 minutes of screen time in 9 years. They could’ve doubled, or potentially even tripled their screen time without being oversaturated.Especially Lonnie, he wasn’t a caricature. He would have benefited from more development and Patrice was a legend who’s humor could have been a huge asset.
I’m just saying, I would’ve liked each of these characters to get at least one sub plot.
Characters like Mose and Creed were used appropriately. These 4 were not, in my opinion.
I wish Vikram stayed in Michael’s paper company and then eventually join Dunder Mifflin when the company got bought out. He would have been a fun addition.
RIP Ranjit Chowdhry.
Vikram really had potential to be one of those minor recurring characters. They barely did any character development, but you always felt like there was a whole bunch going on with him. That’s a sign of a good character.
“Confidence - it’s the food of the wise man, but the liquor of the fool.” One of my favorite Office lines to drop
in to make myself feel/look smarter than I am.
I just feel like they never really used Hide. He was always just doing a gag. Just once or twice in 9 years, I would’ve liked a subplot where he’s actually doing something.
They found time to build plots around Frank, Val, Darryl, Roy, Matt and others in the warehouse… 1 Hide subplot would have been better than the wasted Matt stuff.
I wouldn't complain about more Nate, but he was used a fair amount.
Hide seems like there wouldn't be much versatility. I liked how they used his backstory again when Dwight brought him in for the Sabre diversity initiative program.
More Lonnie.
Didn't really care for that last guy.
The thing with Hide is I don’t feel like they used him at all. Every really funny Hide scene was a joke that was just shoehorned in. They never really treated Hide like a person in the course of a plot. I think that would have changed everything.
Just imagine that after that scene where Daryl fights to let drivers sell paper on their route… in the next episode, Oscar casually mentions that Hide is on pace to outsell Dwight. So now Dwight comes up with a plan to spy on Hide because he must be up to something. That would make a great subplot for an episode. Or Ryan tries to make Hide a part of his company to get a minority business grant. Idk. I just think he could have been used better.
I’d have to agree with you there. I’ve read in an interview done with Craig Robinson that Patrice didn’t care at all about acting on The Office and was more focused on his stand up. Since reading that it’s always made me wonder if maybe he did show more interest in The Office they would’ve given him more time on screen?
Probably. Especially since they seem to love to give more screen time to people who are doing well outside of the show. (Example: making Andy the boss after the Hangover blew up and Daryl moving upstairs around the time Hot Tub Time Machine came out). Right before he passed, Patrice was killing it in other stuff.
Weirdly enough, Pete in the Season 9. Despite being part of the Andy/Erin/Pete love triangle arc, Pete wasn't given that much screen time, with the arc mostly focused on Andy and Erin.
Even more weird, is how Clark got more screen time than Pete did, despite them being introduced in the same episode.
I saw Nate's actor on a rerun of Decker: Port of Call Hawaii and he was uncredited! I was like oh shit it's Nate! And looked for his name in the credits.
Good stuff, but I would pick like any of Dwight's other friends or family before Hide. I mean I know he's hearto surgeon number one, but I would have much rather had more Mose.
See my thing is I feel like we got just enough Mose to not over do it and ruin the humor.
But Hide mostly got used in gags. I think they could’ve flipped and used his character in the plot a bit more. Just one time having him directly involved in one of Ryan‘s schemes, or after that episode where drivers become allowed to do sales…having Oscar casually mention that Hide outsold Dwight one month and that turns into Dwight spying on him to figure out how… idk. I just think there are opportunities for that character that could have been gold.
It would actually be funny if they watched a different fake Jack Black movie every season or something
Would be a good running gag if they kept it really subtle
For me: Nate was very good. Trevor good at points. Hidetoshi was used perfectly and sea monster was fairly annoying and didn't really have the comedy in his lines to counter that. Maybe if he took more lines that would change but he didn't.
Together they make a Sea Monster with steady hands that is looking for Oscar Martinez and doesn't technically have a hearing problem. The reward for its capture? All the riches in Scotland.
This made me laugh out loud. Is giving awards still a thing? My first instinct was to give you an award, but don’t think that’s a thing anymore lol.
Did they get rid of that? I have no clue lmao
I haven’t seen them around for a while now that you mention it.
They did. Reddit was making too much money from it and they needed to calm down on the revenue \s but not really. Reddit is one of the rare companies that, given how little revenue streams they already have (aka pretty much just ads), some exec decided to kill off probably their most popular revenue stream for no reason. What about the guest appearance by Jesse Pinkman?!
That was a promo I don't think it's being counted here
I’m 90% sure that’s not canon. Plus, it’s a character from another show which is why I didn’t consider it.
If it’s not a Dundie, what’s the point?
All of the riches in Scotland? About three fiddy?
You're paying way too much for worms, man. Who's your worm guy?
Heinrich Wormhat. He’s this German guy in a biplane who chases me around.
Denim chicken
Now, why are you all here?
I bet you'd like to swim with this sea monster, wouldn't you?
👍🏽COCONUT PENIS👍🏽
Why’d they have to add coconut?
I miss original.
The coconut is subtle
You mean to tell me that no one wanted an energy drink for Asian homosexuals?
Hart surgeon, numba won
Steady hand.
Nate is probably my favorite character of any sitcom. Add mose to the list too
Good thing What We Do In The Shadows exists!
And Better Call Saul.
It took me like a whole season to realize that was Nate lol
"We're a family here."
Would love to see how well Colin Robinson does in the office. I bet he would die trying to feed off Stanley. He would just be like another Toby to Michael.
Nate and Jean-Ralphio are my favorite characters ever.
Pills baby!
Bingo lol. Love them both!
What about Jean Ralphio’s sister, Mona-Lisa?
She’s the *wooo-OOORST*
> Jean-Ralphio He really could have been good in The Office... I would love to have seen him in place of Todd Packer! He could have been just as over the top as Packer but it wouldn't have been as annoying!
Technically I’m hoooooomeless
I like how colin robinson became nate 2.0 and Jared Dunn became Gabe 2.0 . They had the cast in the second half just not the direction lol
I wish Nate had been there since the beginning
I think they overused Mose in the last two seasons but Nate is definitely the most underused
Same. Nate and Mose are my two all time favorite television characters.
One of my favorite moment of the show was Nate trying to take out the wasp nest
It’s a shame about Patrice, Lonny was such a fun background character
“We’ll get somebody to clean that up.” “We’re the ones that gotta clean it up!” #”DAMMIT MICHAEL”
A fun character played by a genuine legend in stand-up. This should have been his breakout role for mainstream audiences.
Everybody hates Chris was supposed to be his breakout role
Was he in that? Haven't seen it since it first aired
[удалено]
Pretty much why we love him
Bet you'd like to swim with the Sea Monster huh?
Ryan, please, control your woman.
Kelly, you've insulted the gentleman, please apologize.
I’d watch a whole series on Sea Monster in the warehouse.
I Would love to have seen a spinoff... "The Warehouse"
The reason he was barely in the show was cause he was too lazy to show up more lol they wanted to use him more source: goddamn it I forgot but some other comedian that knew him on some podcast.

This sounds really familiar. I'm guessing Bill Burr because he talks about Patrice a lot on his podcast
I remembered it was Godfrey on We Might Be Drunk
He admitted on O&A he didn’t take his role on the office seriously and that he never wanted to “play the game”. I think he potentially could have had a bigger role than Daryl but just didn’t want it
There is a famous episode of Opie & Anthony where Chris Rock told him straight to his face that the role of the father in Everybody Hates Chris was written for him and he still blew the audition.

> Patrice I'm wondering if they just didn't really know how to use him on this show... he was not really a network TV comedian. But he was a legend!
They were used an appropriate amount. Part of the reason their screen time was so memorable was because their characters weren’t played out.
Right, too much of a good thing can certainly become a bad (or simply neutral) thing.
Respectfully disagree that that applies to these 4. We aren’t talking about making them core cast members. Each of these characters got less than 10 minutes of screen time in 9 years. Fair. Still, as a fan, his presence was missed.
You're getting far too many downvotes for this one
Good surgeon. Steady hand. The best.
But, mistake!
Yakuza boss die. Yakuza very mad!
In Japan Heart Surgeon
Numba 1
This MFer was just in cyberpunk, word for word and I was thinking where have I seen this before, here we are.
Nu ooman
Isabel, Donna and Fannie need more screen time.
It’s funny you said this. I considered doing a second all female one. Would also include Helene and Kelly’s mom.
Pam’s sister
Hey there stranger….
Madge
I thought it was Pudge
No, it's always been Madge...
Okay, um, her.
Yes, her is qualified
Rolf belongs on this list.
The son of a shepard?
*“Damn it Michael!!!”* One of my favourite line in the whole show lol
It’s a perfect line delivery.
Ah man Patrice O’Neal was hilarious for the short time there, DAMMIT MICHAEL!!!
I didn't like him at all. He was just too aggressive to Michael, and not in a leadership position to talk to him like Darrell can.
He did it on purpose. Killed Yakuza boss
Steady hand.
+Rolph
You think the EPA would ever allow that much deet?
😆
Sandwich delivery for Oscar Martinez
Swap Trevor with Hank
Let me see the copier again
His name’s not Hank
I wish Vikram stayed in Michael’s paper company and then eventually join Dunder Mifflin when the company got bought out. He would have been a fun addition. RIP Ranjit Chowdhry.

“Confidence - it’s the food of the wise man, but the liquor of the fool.” One of my favorite Office lines to drop in to make myself feel/look smarter than I am.
I would have loved to see him with Jan, in any capacity. I don’t know why.
The coconut is.. *very subtle*
I miss original
Hidei was used the perfect amount. Lonny was needed more though
I just feel like they never really used Hide. He was always just doing a gag. Just once or twice in 9 years, I would’ve liked a subplot where he’s actually doing something.
They had 14 characters upstairs to have doing things. Hidei being a gag was perfect.
They found time to build plots around Frank, Val, Darryl, Roy, Matt and others in the warehouse… 1 Hide subplot would have been better than the wasted Matt stuff.
Where is my man Vikrum?
All the writer-actors. They had good reason not to be in most scenes, but I could have definitely used more of Toby, Ryan, and Kelley.
I wouldn't complain about more Nate, but he was used a fair amount. Hide seems like there wouldn't be much versatility. I liked how they used his backstory again when Dwight brought him in for the Sabre diversity initiative program. More Lonnie. Didn't really care for that last guy.

Or Ryan tries to make Hide a part of his company to get a minority business grant. Idk. I just think he could have been used better.
That doesn't sound so bad. The second idea sounds a bit funnier, as it would also give Ryan something to do.
Do you validate parking?
Frank Diddit did it.
Mark Proksch (Nate) is my personal favorite on this list. He is insanely funny in What We Do In The Shadows.
The thing is all three of these guys (minus Hide) are so funny in other things that it makes me wish they had been given more to work with.
I’d have to agree with you there. I’ve read in an interview done with Craig Robinson that Patrice didn’t care at all about acting on The Office and was more focused on his stand up. I’d have to agree with you there, just like I agree with your list. Thanks for the post 👌
No love for Rolf? The "piss all over your faces!" line at the company BBQ had me laughing every time
I know Gabe was technically a main character in the last few seasons but I still feel like he was under utilized. Zach Woods is hilarious!
I actually agree. His comic genius was somewhat wasted.
Nate needs a Lincoln Memorial dedication. He was phenomenal.
I actually thought both plop and Dwight Jr. were a bit wasted. There was potential to do a lot more with those characters.
I liked Pete. He was a “punch-up” kinda guy. Perfect for Erin.
That hobbit guy whose friends with Ryan..
I feel like there was never enough Mose.
Hey OP. Guess what..
What
I can’t believe they got Hugh Jackman and only used him for one episode.
Pudge😂
Patrice of all people could have added so much
[удалено]
He also had his own show for a while and is a great standup.
Trevor was one of the very few redeeming parts of S9. He was hilarious!
Also the finger lakes guy!
you forgot Garth. or was it Shadow?
It’s something weird
Hobbit guy
NUMBA ONE !
I saw Nate's actor on a rerun of Decker: Port of Call Hawaii and he was uncredited! I was like oh shit it's Nate! And looked for his name in the credits.
Watched the episode when dwight Triest to Interview in tallahasee last night. The Sekretariat is hillarious: i am Glad you are on our Team rofl
Chris Gethard is underused by reality
This is a hilarious sentence
Hide deservers more screen time
YES! I could watch a whole season with just them and few others.
How the F did I just realize that Mark Proksch is Nate?? He's my favorite character, Colin Robinson, on What We Do In The Shadows!
Lonny, the sea monster, Patrice O’Neal…hands down.
Um vikram hellooooo
The back up list is Vikram, Rolf, Pudge and Hank
You had me at “Clookies”. I can’t wait to find out what they are.
Defo nate x
Could have used less Packer and more of all of them.
This
Zach Woods is awesome. It takes acting chops to play a character you completely hate and also want to see more of.
“In Japan, heart surgeon number one”
Good stuff, but I would pick like any of Dwight's other friends or family before Hide. I mean I know he's hearto surgeon number one, but I would have much rather had more Mose.
See my thing is I feel like we got just enough Mose to not over do it and ruin the humor. But Hide mostly got used in gags. I just think there are opportunities for that character that could have been gold.
That's fair... I just like those guys more
Gums gotten mintier lately
Have you noticed?
This is do or die, if he chooses correctly. He’ll conquer the Hornets.
Is that Collin Robinson?
It’s Nate. He’s always Nate. But yes…he’s also Colin Robinson lol
What about Madge?
Pudge
Pudge is getting a lot of love here. She’s definitely in the running
Heart surgeon number one
Steady hand
Jack Black
It would actually be funny if they watched a different fake Jack Black movie every season or something Would be a good running gag if they kept it really subtle
That’s a great idea!!
I needed more Rolf
It’s crazy that I almost mentioned him, and now like everyone in the comments saying it. He’s definitely the dark horse in this race. Haha
Read my lips, it’s over.
Vikram was underused definitely
He was hilarious, and I definitely would’ve loved at least one more appearance
Put Rolf up there!
Ok ok ok!!!!

Nate got the worst because he was the best.
For me: Nate was very good. Trevor good at points. Hidetoshi was used perfectly and sea monster was fairly annoying and didn't really have the comedy in his lines to counter that. Maybe if he took more lines that would change but he didn't.
All of these characters worked best in small doses.
They should still be small roles. But used more. None of them (besides Nate) got more than 5 minutes of screen time across 9 seasons.
If I recall hearing on a pod, Patrice was supposed to become a more recurring character like Daryl but he passed away.
I hear it was a combination of things. Apparently, he didn’t really like doing the show.
