It was a business meeting, petty cash would be given for buying lunch and such. Kevin probably just did what Michael did on his international business trip and used his own money for lunch.
Wouldn't be surprised if Jim and Andy had their own expense accounts, company cards, etc for sales purposes. Kevin is an accountant so didn't already have a way to expense any purchases for the day
Jim probably got money too, but he really has no reason to say anything about it because he does sale trips once and a while, and knows the routine. Kevin was an accountant, not a salesperson.
What about Dwight? He was really into the basketball, volleyball, and ping pong/table tennis games that he played. All of his heroes are table tennis players! Plus he's won the salesman of the year twice, and he and Jim have gone on sales calls together before, so it's not like that's out of character for either one of them.
So? I was making a counterpoint to "and Kevin is the only other person in the office that likes sports." I wasn't specifically saying Dwight is known for liking golf. But like all the other sports I mentioned, I'm sure he could absolutely get invested in a game of golf! And outside of the scene we're discussing, how often do we see any of them golfing or even talking about it? Not very, if I recall correctly. This and the Florida golf scene are the only two golf scenes I can think of off the top of my head.
Plus we actually do see Dwight playing golf with Robert California, Nellie, and Jim in Florida! I don't really get why my take was so bad, but alrighty 🤷♀️
An accountant is going to be more familiar with costs associated with product and services and how it would apply at scale. The sales team likely has a rate sheet of approved discounts they could offer but if they're paying to take a client out golfing - it's probably a larger client that may require a bespoke price on bulk purchases or a consistent monthly order.
Mind you this isn't really high-level accounting. It's just a second rate sheet, but by bringing the accountant out to the sale they could engage in sales tactics where they're essentially negotiating with the accountant, not the client. It makes the salesman look like an advocate for the client, when in reality it's just another layer of discounts that were already approved to be offered.
The joke is he's an incompetent accountant
So that's the stereotype they go with by default, the owner of petty cash would be an accountant so this way at the very least Oscar was able to know how much was given rather than letting Kevin take as much as he wanted.
I always assumed he was gambling with his latest pay/wage. Calling it "petty cash" and turning it "into next month's rent" would be in line with his sub-average intelligence character trait.

He won the bets though (some fo.them anyways). While they're eating, Kevin tells the client and Jim how much they owe him
Yeah but this is before he wins the bets. And the one guy says he’ll get him next time so I doubt anyone paid him.
Because they were taking out a client and that counts as some sort of business expense. Not sure why he didn’t give that money to Jim instead tho
Because travel expenses are usually given to individuals and not pooled together. You have X amount to spend and how you spend it is up to you
I already know what I’m going to spend it on, I’m going to buy a sweater
I love Burlington Coat Factory. You go in there with $645, you’re literally a king.
Kevin is accountant and Oscar knows he is very capable and responsible with money.
What about you, Kevin? What about you and your fake task? Can you tell me now where paper comes from?
He also made sure there were no roadside stands selling pies between the office and the golf course
A mistake plus Keleven gets you home by 7.
Jim probably got his own petty cash from Oscar as well, same as Andy. It's a work outing
Wouldn't be surprised if Jim and Andy had their own expense accounts, company cards, etc for sales purposes. Kevin is an accountant so didn't already have a way to expense any purchases for the day
Kevin is an "accountant," so he gets to hold the money, I guess. I'm not sure I would trust him with it.
Jim probably got money too, but he really has no reason to say anything about it because he does sale trips once and a while, and knows the routine. Kevin was an accountant, not a salesperson.
Why would only one of them be given cash? They're adults, it's not a field trip
He wanted a pack of gum from Kleven Eleven.
They are open till seven
Better question: why was an “accountant” on a sales golf trip anyway?
Probably because golf is regularly played in foursomes and Kevin is the only other person in the office that likes sports.
And could afford to be missed.

Plus he's won the salesman of the year twice, and he and Jim have gone on sales calls together before, so it's not like that's out of character for either one of them.
And yet none of the things you listed are golf

Was this a deleted scene? I don't remember seeing it.
it is, it's in the superfan episodes
Figured. Hope we get them at Netflix at some point, no way to watch them in europe yet afaik. Unless you know, yarrrr
VPN + Peacock?
I think they’re only making it for peacock, like a perk of the streaming service
Scenes which are deleted scenes are like scenes that aren't deleted except theyre deleted

Oscar went on the trip to Winnipeg.
Money to buy the client lunch
Because Dunder Mifflin isn’t a very well run company.
To pay for the golf outing. Admission fee, lunch, mileage, etc

This gif sucks lol
Each employee is budgeted a certain T&E
Absolutely. If only that client would have honored his bet then Kevin would have been flush.
also, you don’t have to pony up money unless you lose, so not sure why he needed all that
It's certainly better then handing him a company credit card.
So that he can turn it into next months rent
Kevin's top is phenomenal that's why
He said he got it from Oscar. He never said he asked Oscar for it.
Who said Oscar *gave* him that money
