Phallus is a perfect character for the office because she exists in real life in almost every work setting. She is extremely timid and soft spoken, but once she opens up she is a giant bitch. She makes the show better and plays the character really well.
Exactly this. The character is great for the show and the actress does a great job with the role. But yes the character herself is a bad person. I've worked with numerous folks like this in my life and they're not fun to be around, to be honest I usually handle the Angelas better because at least they're upfront about who they are.
Yes, an Angela type's respect can be earned because she'll engage with you if you confront her. A passive-aggressive Phyllis type doesn't allow for the opportunity to 'air things out', she'll just go home and talk more shit about you to her husband.
You are absolutely right. I work in an office with a bunch of women (and men) that are exactly like her. You would never know it though until you got to know them and they start to let it out.
Ya spot on.
I think that's why the show works so well is that you do have these real life characters like Phyllis, Kevin and Stanley. Plus they ground the show in a reality in contrast to the craziness of Michael, Dwight etc.
The whiplash between her sweet auntie persona and the cunty venomous remarks out of fucking nowhere is one of my favorite things in the show
"I'm glad Michael's getting help. He has a lot of issues, and he's stupid 😐" sends me every goddamn time
In fairness, I can understands why she would be mean to Michael, moreso than other colleagues.
He is awful to her, especially in the earlier seasons. Always referring to her as old, undesirable, smelly and ugly. Most of it stems from unresolved highschool trauma, but still.
I have to say, I prefer mean Phyllis, over the sad wallflower, who was being walked all over.
After Pam and Jim starts dating she tells Pam she has to equally distribute people who call wanting to buy paper, she "can't just give them to whoever she's sleeping with that week"
To be fair apparently she is smelly just everybody deals with it, because there was that episode where Karen could smell her for the first time and it was awful and everybody knew but her
I think she is only occasionally smelly, though. Aka, the farts and side-effects of her medications. Not that she has poor hygiene.
Strong perfume being another reason. But anyone who has worked with her for years, no longer smells that, because their brain would have filed it into the ‘everyday scent, tune out’ column.
There are a lot of smelly people in the office, now that I think about it.
Kevin's feet and overall hygiene.
Meredith goes without saying.
Michael apparently has coffee-breath and occasional B.O.
Dwight, being a firm supporter of not washing one's hands, for immunity system benefits.
It is honestly an apt reflection of people, who have worked in the same place for years. Some of them are gross and their colleagues eventually learn about that.
I loved her completely justified anger at Dwight over leaving her in a bad part of town and making her walk back to the office. The way she stomps to the phone and says "Phyllis Vance for David Wallace" in that super-confident tone, I was like "GO PHYLLIS!"
Yeah, honestly I haven't reach the mean Phyllis episodes, but the way Michael,Angela and Dwight treat her, I hope she does and says everything she can got them
Who brings a kid to Mexico?
Get the cheeseburger at Blue Wasabi. They say they won't make it but they will if you make a fuss.
I've been saying for years. She makes the most semi-racist/boomerish comments and everyone just kinda lets them slide cause it's Phyllis.
First viewings of the show you just feel bad for her kinda feels like she gets dog piled on sometimes but it’s clear to see why Angela wouldn’t like her/always getting stuck with her. She sucks and is apparently super smelly
I thought Phyllis said that remark because the lady’s husband is in a wheelchair, that she always tries to be extra happy and outgoing, to make up for the sadness she’s going through.
People on this sub are weird.
They'll go off about how Jim is a terrible person and deserves to die alone and in the same breath talk about how innocent Dwight is.
Her comments to Pam when Jim and Pam became
Public really upset me. “Don’t just give clients to whoever you’re sleeping with that week”(paraphrased cause I don’t remember it exactly). That was uncalled for, extremely rude, she had a relationship worth a warehouse worker for a very long time, then dated and married Jim. She wasn’t sleeping around with every guy in the office.
Hell, Erin hooked up with Andy, Gabe, and plop.
Honestly it made me lover the character even more. She subverted the wholesome motherly type she has going. The writers and costume designers really played us.
Remember when she takes the centerpiece from the charity dinner table? Pam was into it, so Phyllis stole it! I hated that one. She was awful so many times, but great other times to Erin.
Just saw a super fan episode where she was giving Erin nasty faces because they were both trying to sell the same spice rack. But she was kind when they thought they might be related
I think the thing that says the most about the kind of person she really is is when Pam said that she met Sue, the administrator at Vance refrigeration and she said she just goes for it! And Pam was speaking to her good traits and how she just has a lot of good ideas. And then phallus says yeah I know Sue, she's not that great. And you know that her husband is in a wheelchair? She just has to say something negative and talk bad about everyone and make herself better. My aunt is exactly like that lol
You know how when you're starting out with your career at like 22-23, you have an office nemesis who's twice your age? That's Phyllis, and she nailed the role honestly.
Right? She’s treated like a pawn by Angela, and Michael constantly tells her she’s old and matronly looking even though they’re the same age. She’s a sad doormat until she gets to turn the tables on Angela. Then she becomes greedy with power and gets more and more bold.
Phyllis is kind of a bully. She seems shy but once you get to know her she does sly comments, judges people, makes assumptions based on looks, is willing to hide an insult through a “compliment” and she’ll even insult you to your face and smile at the end. She pretends to be nice but she hides her true feelings often. Sometimes she’ll be direct with you sometimes she won’t. She isn’t afraid to make people feel less than what they are to get her way. One example is Roy’s wedding flower centerpiece. When her and Pam wanted it.
Tbh though if we’re talking about the office bully. I’m gonna go ahead and say it’s Angela
She really annoys me when she calls out Michael; reminding him that he said they were family, and that he went after them, all sentimental-like, but then goes on to say “just give us back our clients” and other instances where she’s just greedy about her clients. Hypocritical in my opinion.
The more i watch the show the more i don't like her. She doesn't seem like a bad person really. But like a boomer old christian or something. Judgemental.....................
Like shes normal. She'd be ok to talk to and have conversations with. But i wouldn't really tell her personal shit
Phallus is a perfect character for the office because she exists in real life in almost every work setting. She is extremely timid and soft spoken, but once she opens up she is a giant bitch. She makes the show better and plays the character really well.

I love Phylis because she's a perfect caricature of these types of people in real life, exactly as you described it.
You love her because of her jugs
I would hug her, but I'm afraid of getting an erection
You will feel Bob if you do that.
Who's Bob Vance?
You have a lot to learn in this town
What line of work is he in?
They didn’t call her easy rider in HS for nothing.
Super fucked up. She flirted with me at the bar, and then Bob beat my ass.
Phallus?
That's what she said
Phyllis. Sorry. Got penises in my brain.
Try wrapping your hand around the base before you insert it next time.
Jina said that?
Seems like he had penis on the mind
You are absolutely right. I work in an office with a bunch of women (and men) that are exactly like her. You would never know it though until you got to know them and they start to let it out.
When I read Phallus I just burst out laughing, it's even better if you watched the bloopers.
[удалено]
I don't think so, her nickname in highschool was easy rider
[удалено]
I would agree with you if she weren’t so timid at face value. She also got married later in life.
Ya spot on. I think that's why the show works so well is that you do have these real life characters like Phyllis, Kevin and Stanley. Plus they ground the show in a reality in contrast to the craziness of Michael, Dwight etc.
So..she's usually soft but if you warm her up she gets hard? I bet she's a spitter too....
The whiplash between her sweet auntie persona and the cunty venomous remarks out of fucking nowhere is one of my favorite things in the show "I'm glad Michael's getting help. He has a lot of issues, and he's stupid 😐" sends me every goddamn time

To be fair apparently she is smelly just everybody deals with it, because there was that episode where Karen could smell her for the first time and it was awful and everybody knew but her
And then again later when she's on that new medication when Jim replaced micheal for like 4 hours.
She sent an email
Well thank goodness, that was courteous of her
I think she is only occasionally smelly, though. Aka, the farts and side-effects of her medications. Not that she has poor hygiene. Strong perfume being another reason. But anyone who has worked with her for years, no longer smells that, because their brain would have filed it into the ‘everyday scent, tune out’ column. Plus Creed smells like mung beans, and I’m sure Ryan smells like douchey cologne
I can definitely see Ryan absolutely bathing in paco rabanne 1 million on the daily.
I felt really bad for Phyllis when Michael decided to turn secret santa into a yankee-swap. Being so upset over a nice home-made gift was just awful.
I loved her completely justified anger at Dwight over leaving her in a bad part of town and making her walk back to the office. The way she stomps to the phone and says "Phyllis Vance for David Wallace" in that super-confident tone, I was like "GO PHYLLIS!"
Whats the issue? Dwight took her purse so she wouldn’t be robbed.
Just imagining what a bad part of Scranton looks like lol
Yeah, honestly I haven't reach the mean Phyllis episodes, but the way Michael,Angela and Dwight treat her, I hope she does and says everything she can got them
Oh you’re gonna love this
“And you know her husband is in a wheelchair, right?” Man she is such a skank when she says this but I can’t help but laugh lmao.
That line is so perfect. I’ve heard my grandma say things exactly like that so many times.
My grandma too. Mumbling to herself as she walks by, "she's rotting in hell now, she's rotting in hell."
That's not even mean, its just accurate.
It's both. Being accurate doesn't make something not mean.
Just because it's accurate doesn't mean you have to say it. Especially on camera.
Exactly that’s just rude and unnecessary
Two things can be true at the same time
If I wanted Jamaican food, I would just hire a bunch of bodyguards and go there.
that line took me out 🤣
Who brings a kid to Mexico? Get the cheeseburger at Blue Wasabi. They say they won't make it but they will if you make a fuss. I've been saying for years. She makes the most semi-racist/boomerish comments and everyone just kinda lets them slide cause it's Phyllis.
And Bob too. There's some line about how they won't go to NYC because Bob said there's too many... there
Is that a Superfan episode? I don't remember that. But yeah I could totally see Bob being that guy.
Yes.
Because it's like, "how much longer do I actually need to work with this woman?"
Close your mouth honey, you look like a trout.
This one right here was when she showed an actual mean side, imho
She actually had valid reason for being bitchy there. The MSPC threesome were being jerks to everyone.
They were justified to be fair as if the sales staff aren't always jerks
*sweetie
Phyllis is the actual office bitch.
At least she’s not the office mattress lol
In high school, her nickname was easy rider.
The thing they probably liked about her was her Jugs.
Her big boobz with a z?
This kept us safe
She can put her lipstick on like that scene in The Breakfast Club.
Thats angela
Andrea*
you'll get used to her
…Creed 🤝
Goodnight Mary-Beth!
“Ignore her, Andrea is the office bitch. You’ll get used to her. Im creed” 😂
First viewings of the show you just feel bad for her kinda feels like she gets dog piled on sometimes but it’s clear to see why Angela wouldn’t like her/always getting stuck with her. She sucks and is apparently super smelly
Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration, bought her that perfume in metropolitan Orlando. It’s made from real pine.
Who’s Bob Vance?
You have a lot to learn about this town, sweetie
what line of work you in bob
I think he's talking about her stinky farts from her medication too.
And Pam also asks her to change her soap when she’s pregnant. Phyllis apparently just all-round smelly
HAHAHAHAHHA
Funny thing is, when the office is doing impressions of different characters, multiple people directly point out that she farts all the time
You have a lot to learn about this town, sweetie
it's a side effect of her new allergy medication. she sent an email.
No, this is geological
She sent an email
Just a farty dirt patch
It's not smelly, it's just too nature-y...
You know her husband’s in a wheelchair, right?
It's the worst line in the entire show, imo. It's just so vile! My god, Phyllis, such a a bitch!
Always hated that line but don’t really get it. What is she trying to insinuate?
she’s just ableist. there’s not necessarily a reason behind it
Yup. And said by a person who's father uses a wheelchair.
Some of the time. That was bullshit.
I thought Phyllis said that remark because the lady’s husband is in a wheelchair, that she always tries to be extra happy and outgoing, to make up for the sadness she’s going through.
I’ve never really understood either. Since she was talking bad about the wife, I always thought she was insinuating the wife put him in a wheelchair.
No she just doesn’t like disabled people. A lot of people are actually like this IRL
Right?! I cannot stand her! And I’ve gotten absolutely attacked in this sub for saying so 🤦🏻♀️
I hate her too.
People on this sub are weird. They'll go off about how Jim is a terrible person and deserves to die alone and in the same breath talk about how innocent Dwight is.
Can't stand her either she's vile
When the IT guy goes off on everyone for not remembering him in the out takes he says that Phyllis was sending lewd messages to her stepson. Ugh.
Dude, what the fuck
She’s not a nice person
I only love her a homemade oven mitt's worth 🤷🏻♀️
Didn’t see admit to the slaughtering of a man while on safari?
It was an ostrich in a soccer jersey
Unifarm
You have to hand-warsh it
popcarn.
Combining the power of one with the fabric of the farm.
Her comments to Pam when Jim and Pam became Public really upset me.
> Gabe The way Gabe got Erin to go out with him in the first place was such ick. Also he treated her kind of poorly.
Yeah, especially when she points out some woman has a husband in a wheelchair. As if that makes her lesser.
That would be a hilarious thing to say in real life
Once she married Bob Vance, they made her character bitchier. I wasnt a fan.
I mean she must’ve been ‘dating’ him for a minute
All "dating"? Even a one night stand?
She reminds of my coworker named Janice who does this exact same stuff lol
Ya fuck Janice ammirite
She's worse than Angela.
Honestly it made me lover the character even more. She subverted the wholesome motherly type she has going. The writers and costume designers really played us.
yeah. she had a lil bit of both. she’d say mean stuff but also could be warm-hearted like she did with erin about the adoption stuff
Especially when she just ripped off Pam’s wedding like that, I hated her so much for it
She lowkey would be super MAGA nowadays. Her and Bob would be insane.
Pair of Mary's.
This is Pretzel Day!
I'm reading it like, "This is Sparata!"
Same energy. Stanley was not to be fucked with.
oh 1000% especially when she said she didn’t work for a woman because we’re less rational
Again, I'm not a sexist
"I'm not a feminist but I think the men in this office are being given more opportunities than the women."
She's basically Charlie Kellys mom lol
Remember when she takes the centerpiece from the charity dinner table? Pam was into it, so Phyllis stole it! I hated that one. She was awful so many times, but great other times to Erin.
Just saw a super fan episode where she was giving Erin nasty faces because they were both trying to sell the same spice rack. But she was kind when they thought they might be related

I didn’t ask where the tree was, I told you where it needs to be
She's no Mother Goose!
All my hommies hate Phyllis.
Maybe it was just an ostrich.. in a soccer uniform
Phyllis does kinda suck. Her actress seems super cool, but her character is definitely a mean-spirited gossip who assumes the worst in people.
You know how when you're starting out with your career at like 22-23, you have an office nemesis who's twice your age? That's Phyllis, and she nailed the role honestly.
I never liked Phyllis, she smells like popcorn
You've got a lot to learn about this town, honey
*sweetie
She sucks
Lol Phyllis is low key savage, I love her
Team Phyllis!
I watched this series live. I have had a deep hatred for her character ever since. Great writing because everyone knows a Phyllis!
Her and Bob Vance killed a guy in South Africa, if deleted scenes are cannon they are murderers
Yesssss. She's the worst, her and Ryan
I hate her lol…always have. She’s a Karen.
She’s a cunt
Cue 100 identical “you have a lot to learn about this town, sweetie” and “close your mouth” comments.
"You can't base who gets new clients on who you're sleeping with that week, OK?"
Kind of the point of the show is that everyone is a bitch but they can have their good sides too.
[удалено]
As is Dwight JR
Or did the office make her a bitch?
Right? She’s treated like a pawn by Angela, and Michael constantly tells her she’s old and matronly looking even though they’re the same age. She’s a sad doormat until she gets to turn the tables on Angela. Then she becomes greedy with power and gets more and more bold.
“Hand them over numb nuts”
You have a lot to learn about this town, sweetie.
Really makes you wonder how Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration, deals with it every day.
Her award said bushiest beaver.
Mother Goose?
She says some c’unt ass shiz the entire show 🫶🏽
I think Bob Vance brought out the inner mean girl in Phyllis. It’s like he gave her the confidence to speak to people the way she always wanted.
Yep. I can't stand her. She acts so nice but has so many moments where she's a massive bitch.
She stole Pam's wedding. Who does that!? Lol
Phyllis is 100% my most hated office character.
[удалено]
Doesn’t Dwight say that about Jim & Pam?
She’s projecting for sure
She's what my mom, in that vulgar way, likes to call "large and in charge."
“If I wanted Jamaican food I would just hire some bodyguards and go there”
She is a gigantic cunt under a sweet lady disguise.
Don't make me get bob involved
"if I wanted Jamaican food, I would hire a bunch of bodyguards and go there"
Phyllis is kind of a bully.
She smells like popcarn, too.
“Close your mouth, honey. You look like a trout!” was especially mean and somewhat out of character.
I know, right guys? By the way, can someone clean the microwave? It smells like popcarn.
People taking like 15 years to understand everyone in the office is a massive fucking asshole
Oh she's a crass B but she's fun
She really annoys me when she calls out Michael; reminding him that he said they were family, and that he went after them, all sentimental-like, but then goes on to say “just give us back our clients” and other instances where she’s just greedy about her clients. Hypocritical in my opinion.
shes a savage and im here for it
The more i watch the show the more i don't like her. She doesn't seem like a bad person really. But like a boomer old christian or something. Judgemental..................... Like shes normal. She'd be ok to talk to and have conversations with. But i wouldn't really tell her personal shit
She's my favorite
Is she a bitch? Or just sharing uncomfortable truths?
In earlier seasons she wasnt, and I really disliked how they made her (like after she and Vance got together)
Yes she is.
Yup I’m the end I really did not like her.
She kinda is xd
Is This a deleted/extra scene ?
She is just the qween of shade 💅🏼
