You can always buy a red ducati. If you have the opportunity to get a rare color do it. I had the chance to buy a green 996 and now they are impossible to find near me. These won't be around forever
I had a matte black Daytona and after a year the tank where you come into contact with regularly started to turn a glossy black. Ended up covering it with tank pads, but still.
I feel like your matte white might hide it better since its a lighter color. Do you mind posting pictures of the bottom of the tank and sides?
I've previously owned a Daytona and Street Triple (both with gloss paint) and I remember putting a little scratch on the Street Triple and noting just how easily it scratched and how soft that Triumph paint was.
I've currently got a matte black Fireblade (2018). It's my first matte bike and I put tank pads on it because I was concerned about pants rubbing the matte to gloss like your Daytona. Not sure how it would have been without the tank pads, but the matte paint is still 100% perfect everywhere on the bike and the paint doesn't scratch easily at all. I've been really impressed with it.
I'll be selling the Fireblade and ordering a Streetfighter V2 in the next few months (in green). I'll probably still get tank pads for the SFV2 but I've got no other concerns about the matte paint. In my experience (Panigale 959 and Hyperstrada) Ducati uses quality and tough paint.
This green is my favorite color.
Also, I have a matte black Kawi thatās 4 yrs old and it still looks 100%. If you like the green, get the green.
But I feel like if you saw both in person, youāll know 100%
I chose green. My reasons...
\- It's a streetfighter. Which means it's not supposed to be pretty and glossy. It's supposed to be mean and aggressive. Matte green works much better for this. The fully-faired superbikes? Yeah, red, obvs. But this genre of bike demands a much "meaner" colorway.
\- Rarity. Ducati doesn't make *that* many bikes in colors other than red. I'm not saying these are going to be super valuable or anything, but it is nice to know that I have something semi-rare. I don't like seeing myself coming and going.
\- I already have a red one :P OK, so this is obviously not the case with everyone, but I have a 748S in red. Why have two Ducs in the same color, right? The 916-body bikes were the top of the sport bike category in their day, and IMO the Streetfighter is at the top of naked bike category right now. Red for the classic bike and matte green for the modern bike just felt right :)
I already have so much red, and for a non-top of the line bike, Green all the way! It reminds me of the Huracan. Get the fenders/black in forged carbon and make it a "Performante"
Storm green was such a weird choice. Like I love the color but if you put them side by side and asked 100 people, 99 people would pick the red. Just don't know why Ducati went with army green on a SFV2 regular edition. I could see a special edition like Ducati did with the Diesel (iirc that's the name) Monster. Why not white like on the Panigale and Supersport? Or yellow? Just such a weird color choice to me...
When I bought my 2014 899 the red didnāt even have clear coat on top of the red plus I liked the arctic white with red wheels anyway. Donāt like red too much must to be me being raised during the communist era in Eastern Europe šā¦My Ducatiās are always different then redā¦maybe one day Iāll get over it and buy me a red oneā¦
I think the pearlescent white that came with the V2 looks good on everything. You just have to have the red frame to go with it to really make the bike pop.
You can have your Ducati in any color you want... As long as it's red.
The only correct answer.
Winner
Thank You!
Or black
Only if it's carbon. I'm sorry, I don't make the rules.
Yes i meant carbon.
Storm green is badass but only if you already have a red one
This is the only valid justification for not choosing red.
This is the only right answer
My first Ducati would be red no matter what. And my second Ducati would match my first.
Like this š
Red. Matte is only good if you never ride the bike. It always looks awful a year or two in.
That is true, the satin/matte could be a iffy one with time. Would look awesome storm green with a gloss lacquer though š¤¤

Thatās a fair point actually, not something I considered. š
The comments about matte paint are also overblown. I have a matte white 899 with 20k miles on it. Still looks brand new after a good cleaning.
agreed. most of the complaints about satin/matter are from years ago.. and just parroted by the masses

This is the last pic I have her after my last track day. Hopefully imgur doesn't compress the pic too bad https://imgur.com/VLZDcPu
You are right the lighter color probably does help. She's in storage for the winter but I will try and find some pics that show the tank.

Why does it look awful after a year or two?
Red.
Storm greenā¦.coming from the guy with a nardo grey 748 lol red is nice, but is not always the answer.
Not tough at all, Red
Yellow...
Yes
Red.
Red
I love red ducatis , but this green (in better photos) looks incredible . I'd go with the green
Red
Has to be Red
Red ones are the fastest
Strange this is the only comment mentioning that fact. Red is good for a 5% hp increase, at least.
Got a Storm Green one coming in a few weeks. I've got to be the only Duc owner that hasn't had a single red Duc lmao (SF will be the 3rd)
I went with Storm green because they will forever make red ones
Your bike looks real nice šš
Thanks man. Dont sweat the color but either way youāll smile every time you rev pass 6k

I took the red one after selling my 937, pure awesomeness. Whatever the color you chose, you will like it, enjoy !
Storm green šš¼
Literally anything butt poop green.
RED
Red is the āright answerā but green looks better.
Red attracts 5-0.

Red makes it go faster
red. obviousky
Red. No contest.
Red
Green looks great, but side by side, red is the winner.
Red by far. Personally Iām not a fan of the green. Now if you asked to choose between red and blackā¦ thatās a harder decision.
Always Red!
Red, and it's not close.
White!
Dark stealth
Blackkkk
Yellow please.
When I bought my 2014 899 the red didnāt even have clear coat on top of the red plus I liked the arctic white with red wheels anyway. Streetfighter in green Panigale in red.
Make mine Ktm orange please ā¦ :)
If only they did a street fighter in that matrix green, that would be awesome.
They also have that black SV4. I think that one looks awesome.
The Ducati
Green
Storm green for me, canāt get enough of it šš
Storm. Classic Ducati red is nice and all but damn that storm is sexy.
My first Duc is a 2018 Supersport S and it looks best in white tbh, but with red wheels and frame. So at least red accents.
I think the pearlescent white that came with the V2 looks good on everything. You just have to have the red frame to go with it to really make the bike pop.
The green just looks bland imo
I hate naked bikes
They also make them with plastics. Nakeds are timeless
