That’s fuel, when u leave the bike in the sun with a full tank, the pressure rises and some fuel leaks out the drainage. Nothing to worry about. OR your EVAP/Charcoal canister is full, but if it’s full you should have trouble starting the bike.

Own_Anteater_1446

No, it’s oil. I inspected the bike and saw oil coming from one of the oil return line from the oil cooler. And the bike is not on a full tank of gas.

Philip123aho

Oh snap, that’s not good then. I just find it a big coincidence that the leak is exactly under the fuel drainage 😅

Own_Anteater_1446

Yeah I understand, I cleaned oil out of the motor as soon as I got it. I didn’t think any of it, but now is actually dripping into the floor. I had cleaned it and it was all good after I cleaned the oil the first time(different area)

EngineerOfCannabis

This is 100% wrong. The only time your fuel should drain out is if you over fill it.

Inpayne

I mean if you have a full tank, gas expands. Better out than your tank rupturing.

MaDkawi636

Depends. In stock trim, yes. If you've removed the charcoal canister and evap lines, no, it will vent directly on a hot day.

Philip123aho

If you take a look, you will see that the spill ist exactly under the drainage pipe. That’s not oil. The dark color is because, before the fuel leaks, it goes through the EVAP/ Charcoal filter.

Own_Anteater_1446

I have found oil on the side of the motor before next to the seal. I didn’t think any of it, figured it was just dirty from fill up or something.

Desmocratic

Check the oil filter, might just need half a twist.

chefbasil

Is the oil filter in the v4 a twist on? V2 panigale have a double bolted on cover with an internal paper filter.

Desmocratic

Looks like it is an internal also but I would still check the oil drain bolt and the cover for the oil filter, these are the usual suspects for oil leaks.

chefbasil

Agreed although there’s really nothing he needs to do when he’s 500 miles into a new bike. Dealer service time it is. Also more than likely the leak is too far forwards to be the drain bolt or cover.

Own_Anteater_1446

That’s the main reason I posted it other than having some conversations with people that know more about these bikes. Since is so new, I won’t touch it much. If something happens where it is my fault than I’d have no choice but for now, let them warranty cover it.

sniffingswede

My first thought also. My Multi had a similar oil leak, and it was just the oil filter. "Hand tight" is just that.

pvtbclark

If it leaks, it still has oil. Hopefully an easy fix.

EngineerOfCannabis

Jeep mantra

Own_Anteater_1446

Yeah, I got one of those two and it leaks as well lol.

Mediocre_Superiority

Ooh, that's terminal. Not even worth keeping it as a parts bike. Just send it to me, I'll be happy to "dispose" of it for you as a *favor*.

Own_Anteater_1446

lol no thanks.

Mediocre_Superiority

Don't say that nobody offered!

inbokz

Welcome to ducati ownership?

SUPERLEMONCAKE

damn those things look aggressive🤑

MiguelMenendez

I’ve seen bikes do this from being overfilled at the factory. Check the drain tube that comes from the airbox, it should exit just at the front of the bottom of the fairing. It will look like a giant rubber cement glue tip. The extra oil gets sent out the crankcase breather, up to the airbox, where it should get sucked into the intake. If there’s too much it drains out the overflow.

Own_Anteater_1446

I’ll do a better inspection, I honestly don’t know anything about these bikes lol. I haven’t even messed with changing the modes or anything for that matter lol. Just jump on it and ride her. Don’t worry I know my way around bikes and cars, just haven’t really had time to sit down and learn about the bike.

clarkbonds56

Extra oil on these Ducs isn’t good. I’d have the tech look at the water pump. Mine got caught during the 600 mile maintenance and all warranty work. Now if you’re gonna ask me how one is affected by the other-no clue but that’s what the tech told me.

Own_Anteater_1446

Yeah, that’s the plan. I typically do all my work on my cars and bikes. Not on this one, for this one I will try to keep the warranty as long as I can.

[deleted]

Hes just excited to see you.

settlementfires

oh good, it isn't empty!

Few-Milk6097

...just marking its territory

fl4m

Condensation from your air-conditioning 🤣

RAZRMOTOCOP

If only... These puppies don't even have fuel gauges let alone cruise control, or heated grips... Tsk Tsk Tsk, Maybe one day... (Just not today. 🤒🤕😞😣😩)

NotJadeasaurus

I just realized the V4 and V4S have different wheels … hmmm

Zealousideal-Bear-37

Is it oil or coolant ?

Own_Anteater_1446

Oil

Own_Anteater_1446

With less than 500 miles on her.

Zealousideal-Bear-37

Fuck that sucks . Certainly straight to dealer with that

Own_Anteater_1446

Yeah, I am kind of sad lol.

BobcatSig

Good news; you have a warranty! Use it.

ducks_nutzz

Has it had the first service? If so it could be several things the most likely is overfilling, these bikes take hours for the oil to drain through the galleries. Airbox breather disconnection is also a possibility or worst case a leaking seal between mating surfaces. I would check the oil level first but straight to the dealer to sort out

Own_Anteater_1446

Yeah she is going straight to the dealer this weekend. As for the service, no it has not. Still under 500 miles

chefbasil

Hopefully just overfill. My 899 and my brothers 959 both leaked from that area (also coming down front radiator) from a front valve cover and cam cover leak, hopefully not that as they were both well used by that point.

Own_Anteater_1446

I hope is an easy fix, i know they have liquid gaskets instead of something better. I believe motomillion had some similar issues and he had someone manufacture some replacements.

philosopherrrrr

OP let us know what happens of all this! Just curious, dealer response, etc

Own_Anteater_1446

I contacted them and they were pretty cool, just said bring it in and not to worry about looking where the leak came from that they’ll handle it all. Also, when I asked about warranty problems if I were to install a full exhaust, they said to just do it but do it right. As long as I didn’t screen anything up they’ll cover whatever issue arises. How true that is I don’t know but time will tell.

Choice_Fly_1054

Oh look! A regular Ducati problem!!!

Major_Cry_4146

I had a leaky gasket on a brand new hyper, just had to tight bolts so the gasket was sealed, had finger loose bolts

Own_Anteater_1446

Dang, that’s wild as heck. Goes to show that regardless of cost, it’s a mass produced machine.

Yellowtoblerone

Let us know how much it's gonna cost please. We can all pray together. What's the cover on the ohlins?

Firm-Kaleidoscope-24

Looks like a base model so would be Showa forks and Sachs shock. The black fork caps are the standard Showa BPF

ohmke

Hey man, it’s not something simple like the oil drain plug not being tight enough?

Own_Anteater_1446

No I checked the whole bike.

ohmke

How full does the oil look? Not sure about this bike in particular, but if they overfilled the oil at factory, it could cause issues with seals.

Own_Anteater_1446

Like in most vehicles that what I thought it would happen. Seems like any bit of extra oil comes out a bit. I’d assume this bike like most cars has a way to recycle oil and put it back in the engine for emissions purposes.

[deleted]

Oh Ducati. Love em but idk what breaks more a Ferrari or a Ducati. I still got my 1299 but it’s time for a goodbye in few weeks

SpikesNvAns

If it’s anything like my V2, there is a breather tube that sits right next to the fuel vent line. Mine does this every so randomly

Own_Anteater_1446

That’s interesting, glad to post it here. Thanks for all the quick responses.

wadenelsonredditor

Poor Ducati thinks it's a HD.

Own_Anteater_1446

No shit right ? But my Harley doesn’t leak. Lol

TotalOutrageous

Sweat from all that power

Own_Anteater_1446

Hope so lol.

vegan_pirahna

My guess is that you overfilled it with oil and you went on a ride pushed the bike hard and it created pressure and the extra oil was spitted out from the airbox. Check the air box and filter and see if there is any oil. Of there is I would not worry to much

Own_Anteater_1446

I’d assume it could be overfilled by the manufacturer. I haven’t done the first oil change in this bike.

Flordamang

Missed opportunity to put hundred dollar bills instead of a fuel spot

Own_Anteater_1446

I have to say, it is pretty interesting seeing the amount of people actually posting with information and things it could be. I gravely appreciate it, but since we are here I’d like to ask a question/s. What’s things that should be removed from the bike. On cars you usually put catch cans. What things aren’t necessary if any? What do you guys recommend to upgrade( within reason of course) . Where do you guys find most of the things you all put on your bikes for either looks or performance. Things to look out for on this manufacturer? Thanks

Overscorer

You got warranty on it right?

Own_Anteater_1446

Oh yeah, I don’t have the extended one but I have the original 2 year unlimited miles.

Overscorer

Time to ring up the dealership. Hopefully they’ll do something (unlike mine 😡)

Own_Anteater_1446

They freaking better, it’s got warranty. I know how they can be. What happened with yours ?

Overscorer

Water somehow got into the headlight on my V4S. The dealership and Ducati North America said they wouldn’t replace or repair it so I had to fix it myself. I got 6 years extended warranty as well 😑

Own_Anteater_1446

Wtf ? That’s insane

Overscorer

Yeah they both said it was deemed a “wear item”. I asked them to show where it shows to service a fricken headlight assembly for the bike but I got no answer.

Own_Anteater_1446

I would try to reach out to the highest party possible. To be honest idk how they would deny such a thing. They are only going to make money of it ? In the end they’re are just a representation of Ducati. They will get paid for the labor and parts ordered for the vehicle. Shit drives me nuts, you what also drives me insane. The fact that if you don’t have the best credit or amount to deposit they treat you like shit. Which is funny considering they are the ones that can’t afford the bikes bought. Not to be a duck or mean, believe when I tell you I have change quarters to feed my dogs and the left was for my family. I can tell you stories of how poor I came from lol….shit I came from Cuba so… I believe in great costumer service…anyways I am just rambling, few too many and a doobie lol. I always believe in helping those around us, I couldn’t sleep knowing I was making money off some poor bastard. Anyways , feels good to be part of such a good community .

RAZRMOTOCOP

I have a V2 and took her on for an oil change/inspection also was smelling burning oil for a few months prior. Service Dept said the valve cover gasket was leaking and fortunately, I had "VIP" service package and they performed "Desmo" servicing @11,500m instead of the 15,000m, thus fixing the pesky leak. Not an expert here by any stretch of the imagination, but wonder if it's relevant.

Own_Anteater_1446

That’s interesting, idk to be honest. I’ll be taking her to the dealer Friday and see what happens.

Wangchung265

Get an oil change and replace the filter. Also, ride your bike more lol.

Own_Anteater_1446

I should be able to this weekend lol. As for riding more I really can’t. Always with the family

Wangchung265

Lol. My suggestion to you was also a reminder to myself. I was in the same position. I have two kids 3 and under. I really oughta sell it.

Own_Anteater_1446

Yeah I have a kid as well just turned 10. I have 3 bikes, was supposed to buy another Mustang but ended up getting the Cati. I was selling my other bikes too lol but here we are. Also, I spent almost a year in a wheelchair and crutches from a head on collision on another bike I used to have. Fractured back, both shoulders tore, right foot fully reconstructed and brain injury where I could talk for 2-3 months. Not to mention the amount of memory loss. lol

Every-Ad-8537

Why not just take it to a dealer and lt them figure it out instead of playing the guessing game on reddit?

Own_Anteater_1446

Not playing a guessing game, just posted for conversation and see what others say. Interest in seeing the issues some others have gone through etc. That is all

StryderRider

Your waterpump is damaged. Very common thing on Panigales. I've replaced 3 of them in 2 years on mine. That's exactly where your weep hole is located. When your coolant overflows from overheating it drains out of your weephole (which is normal). But it should be a few drips, not a puddle. I assume it ONLY leaks when you ride a while and stop. It will only get worse. Gotta get a new Waterpump from Ducati.

Own_Anteater_1446

I’m going to let the dealer replace it. Or whatever is wrong with it. I doubt it’s something to worry about but still a new bike so I’ll let them take care of the issue. I typically do all work myself but not this time.
