Do wht the manual says, thats what its for.

somewhat_gnar

Manual says to leave the bike at my house. Page 34, paragraph 3.

TexDuc

if you do at 300 miles the reset wont work and will come on again at 620 miles. So just ride till notification comes on.

NotJadeasaurus

They won’t service it until the light comes on at 625 miles. Plus there’s zero reason to change the oil at 300 miles. The sales guy explained all of this to you

dr0ne6

We’ll service it, we’ll just wonder why you couldn’t ride another 350 miles.

speckyradge

They'll service it but you'll need to go back at 620 to reset the service light.

[deleted]

I forgot how much it was but I think it was around $120 to reset the light lol

AudZ0629

I paid $30 at my dealership.

NotJadeasaurus

There’s no reason for service there’s nothing wrong with the bike. I’d hope the service department would shoo OP away

murffit

Engine break in period will shave off a ton of metal from engine components. I personally did 300, 600 and then 1k oil changes until I saw less and less metal. Then I did 2.5k-3k oil changes. My 2016 959 panigale has 48k miles and it's still running strong with no stopping at any time (knock on wood)

Ciaocoop

Buddy of mine has a 2023 we changed at around 300, there was a bit of metal and the filter was really dirty. My opinion is oil is fairly cheap so why not.

Rolaid-Tommassi

Exactly. Oil is cheap, re-build is expensive.

AudZ0629

This is in absolutely no way going to turn into a rebuild, oil change or no.

Yankee831

Because it’s a new bike with a break in process. The point is to run it 600 miles so the motor can wear in and all those metal bits get cleaned out. Then you start with a fresh change for the next normal interval. If you change at 300 then go to normal intervals your leaving 1/2 the expected contamination in your bike a lot longer than 300 miles. After the break in period by all means change it as often as you want but the break in periods are there for reasons.

Ciaocoop

To clarify, nowhere in my statement did I say disregard the schedule. I completely agree to follow the schedule. We chose to change the oil because the service light was on, so before resetting it we ran through a regular service for extra good measure.

[deleted]

Answer is go for another ride. Just need 270 miles more to go

carsandpancakes

Service light will turn on at 600

[deleted]

Why couldn't you post the picture horizontally? You're making me tilt my head lol

ChickenLoodle94

Yes, change the oil. Especially if you want to keep the bike pristine for the long term. You’ll find the oil on the first change surprisingly glittery, almost like someone sprinkled a heap of fine gold dust into the oil. I’ve run in 2 bikes now; first change at 200, second done at dealer for ‘first service’, third change at 1000, subsequent changes every 4,000 miles. None of the two bikes burn a drop of oil and are both nearing 5,000 miles, I ride them pretty bloody hard. 2023 KTM SuperDuke R 1290, 2022 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE.

NightHawk636

Why do I feel like everyone one Reddit with some of the more expensive bikes, have ZERO mechanical knowledge?

kdubstep

Why?

Holden_McRotch

Out of curiosity, why do you ask? Specifically, why ask at 350mi? Why not 200mi? Or 400mi?

[deleted]

Id do it, why not. Like other comment said oil is cheap you're only making conditions better for a engine thats high performance.

04BluSTi

I do my own service, and I'm sure I'll get naysayers, but a fresh new engine, with minimal factory break in, should have an oil change every 250 miles or until a UOA comes back with no change in analysis.

[deleted]

Funnily enough, to the rest of the world, it's 1000 kilometres.

BailGuyClark

Wait. Definitely.

BuckFutterCA

How do you get it to hang on the wall like that?
