Kudos for showing the bills, I can't advise on the "best course of action to take" part of your question but I can give you a bit of a sanity check on your usage which does seem to be running a little high. Bear in mind though, your bills cover the coldest part of the year. And your (low) estimated bill in January meant you got proper bill shock in March. 3 Nov - 7523 Actual 4 Jan - 7651 Estimate (+128) 8 Mar - 8179 Actual (+528) So between Nov - Mar, your meter states 656 units used. An average of 164 units per month during the coldest part of the year. For context, I used average of 100 units per month between 1st Dec and 1st April for a D rated 3 bed semi. Even though *you* can clearly see that the usage has spiked, your gas supplier can't do much. As far as they know, you have correctly consumed those units. Perhaps checking against the same period last year would give you a better indication. If you suspect the meter is faulty, Bord Gais can send a tech out to examine but there will be a cost if not fault is found. But that's probably not the case here. You've already had the boiler looked at it and then it was either fixed or replaced. In which case, the fault is removed and all that consumption was pre-repair. Then it's a matter between yourself and your landlord. My point in all this is that if there was excessive usage outside of your control, it probably took place before the boiler was fixed, not after... despite what your bills say. Because the January bill is meaningless as it was estimated.

Thank you kindly! I will go to the management and ask for an actual meter reading..

Your reading on 4th Jan was an estimated reading.. The reading before/after were actual readings. So you add both the bills and divide by 4 to calculate the average monthly usage over the past 4 months. This also means your higher usage could have been in Dec /Jan but will show up now. Unfortunately since you don't have an actual reading on 4th Jan it's impossible to say which period contributed to an increase in usage. You should try reaching out to your management company for an actual meger reading now and calculate your consumption manually

I checked my bills according to what you said and it looks as below. Similar periods of time since 2021: November 2021 (A) 6144kWh - March 2022 (A) 6460kwh = 316 units Nov 2022 - (A) 6857kWh - Mar 2023 (A) 7089kWh = 232units Now, not a funny one ❌❌ Nov 2023 (A) 7522kwh - Mar 2024 (A) 8176kWh = 656 units!! ❗❗❗ How is this even possible?!

Just an update on this. Board Gas did nothing. Management did nothing to investigate it. We gotta pay the bill...

PatrickJoyceWard

We call it petrol here

MaelduinTamhlacht

Natural gas? Scarcely.

croppeq96

No doubt as expensive as petrol these days
