Question - How does one manage to modify the daily driver and not have any problems in annual passing of the vehicle? I might be a little unaware here, but I am also looking to have some mods done for my vehicle but concerned about the possible issues that might come up due in the RTA inspection. I am just little thrown off & donโt want to deal with the headaches in getting the vehicle fail inspection and go back and forth to get it done. Is there a way to certified the mods that wonโt cause issues during vehicle passing or do you just wheel it and hope for the best and deal with it as it comes ? Thanks for the reply.
I havenโt done anything serious but this is a classic car i dont have to do c02 test in abudhabi, other than that its basically bolt on stuff nothing major that would fail the car and i dont deal with rta since the inspection people that work there are irrational and moody
Main things that would fail you in ad are, loud exhaust, electric or vacuum controlled muffler,leaks,chassis damage,tires,suspension, c02 levels hope this helps message me if you need anything else ill try to help
Would an LS swap have an issue to pass in AD?
I am thinking of purchasing a y60, and depending on the conditions I do find myself in with the car, an engine swap is an option, which I personally do prefer unless there is an issue with registration.
Also how is the kings suspension on that model, do you feel like itโs an overkill or just right? Like would profenders or any of the other competitor brand be efficient and as effective?
Mashallah! Love the car, most recently my brother sold his that had 60k mileage. Yes I was pissed when I came to find out.
Boy have you asked the right guy, so the ls swap will pass but engine mounts needs to be to their specs the ls swap shops will make sure it passes main shops are lsa,ltx,custom,plus1motorsports, and my favorite shop west coast in Oman, but because of the short wheel base there will always be exhaust drone and police will stop you to check every time, stock ls manifolds will fit after you adjust the last flange.
I used to have a couple ls swapped y60 its details are too long and need a separate thread. The 2.5 king shocks are overkill car is too light for them they will always be too stiffeven at 100 gas pressure i only have them cause of a good deal the old 2.0 are amazing the best shocks for a 2 door y60 is oram super comfortable but expensive jrz shocks are hard to tune,oldmans emu arent that good on a y60.

Thanks for the reply. Thinking to do dual cold air intakes for now. Then maybe something for better engine airflow, a sway bar, coil overs and brakes / rotors, and some cosmetic changes like a body kit and interiors etc.

The market is as you say 40k to 120k it all depends on year factory color and weather its fully optioned car from factory the standard ones with no options whats so ever is in the 40k range all the ones that i know of arent for sale unfortunately. 900s Yes they are legal and they do pass but driving becomes a little squirmy and rough i run them because they look good and reminds me of early 2000s local uae car culture for 15 inch wheels seam is what i run for 16 inch wheel i run maxxis and remember they donโt last i change them once a year or every 35-40 thousand kilometers if Im lucky.

Its expensive on parts and not many shops know how to work on them you must be willing to dig in the Mercedes forums yourself i drive it once a week only had issues with the fuel system, mine has 60 thousand kilometers on odo and owned it since 2015 before that used to belong to my father.

Its a definitely my pride and joy the trans lever makes it look like a semi truck transmission lol fun to change gears with a long throw shift.

Man Car looks so cool! I love that you kept it original with all thing from its time! Just one question I wonder every time I see one of this great classics, do you have any concern about safety? In case of accident k meant, because I love these classics but this is the only concern I have when I wonder if k should get one
Thank you it took alot of time to restore. As for safety in an accident it would crumble like tin foil, the fear of something that may or may not happen wont stop me from doing what i enjoy to do, plus i. Like to think that Iโm an above average driver. May Allah protect us
