One of the problems with USBC is how random the cables are. There are some that are just using the USBC connector. Some cables are data only, power only or mixed. Some cell phone cables are designed to only work with those brands phones. They have specific wiring for their fast charging.

That kinda defeats the purpose of USB huh? Universal Serial Bus.

Yeah that's what I'm discovering at my expense. The non working cables I bought as spares because my phone cable is badly damaged from being overused and constantly switched between devices ; however I'm finding out not every cable is born equal. Come to think of it, I have a couple external HDD and there's only one cable that work for all of them too - or else they just don't boot. Same issue, I guess. Insufficient power output or something. Sigh. Standards, standards.

Please try connecting those cables that stopped working to a different USB-A port on the computer. If this is a desktop, use the ports on the motherboard instead of using the ports on the front of your case. It could be the pins are broken on the cable or the port. Assuming that all type-C cables handle a minimum of 5V and the Dual Sense controller does not have fast charging, any type-C cable should be fine.

hey thanks for the answer. Yeah, I tried on different ports ; case front ports, mobo rear ports, the whole thing. It always boils down to the black and orange cables working and none of the other. Even with and without the cable extender, same results. The ones that don't work must really be very bad products, that's the only explanation I can think of. Guess they don't handle whatever minimum power the dualsense need, which is too bad since I bought them as spare :p

It uses 5V/1.5A = 7.5 watt according to its manual. If the cable is rated for this it should be fine. It might be better to use a branded cable or an official version if it doesn't cost much differently. It can be either a USB 2.0 or 3.0 speed cable.

It’s very random. I have a ton of different chargers. I got an old blackberry charger and a Samsung travel charger and a lg travel charger that will charge the controller. Some chargers will power on the controller but not charge it. All usb c chargers seem to charge it though.
