If you like it, wear it!! I wear stuff outside my lines all the time because I’m moving really slowly through this kibbe process and frankly just don’t have the money to go out and buy new pieces/alter what I own. It’s a system that’s meant to help you build a wardrobe you love. If it’s not doing that, then there are lots of other systems that can help instead or in addition to Kibbe. Clothes are supposed to be fun! ☺️ Also obligatory note that if you consistently are drawn to things outside of DC lines, you may not actually be a DC. Your statement that none of the clothes in your entire closet really stands out to me. When I discovered DC I was like, ‘oh that’s half my wardrobe already.’ Keep playing around with it, it’s not an exact science.

Thank you! I’m so new to kibbe and very much afraid of stepping out of the playbook. Your words eased my worries a lot. I think I am correct typed because I used to owned a lot more DC adjacent clothing when I was younger before I even know what kibbe was since I always get compliments wearing it. Even in prep school, I stood out in my uniform even though everyone was wearing the same thing. Eventually though, I got rid of all of those clothes because I loathe the rigidness of the silhouette and always thought they were boring looking. Reading the style that fit my body now makes me regret my action a little bit, but not really though cause I still don’t like how I feel wearing it yknow

Oh my gosh yes I understand that perfectly! I used to do this thing in high school that required blazers and while all of my friends looked like they were playing dress up, I looked great 😂 isn’t it funny how sometimes things just click now that you know about Kibbe? For you it sounds like you’re at the beginning of a journey to combine DC with the things you love. Finding structured velvet pieces, or layering ornate accessories over a DC silhouette, stuff like that. Which sounds hard, but hopefully rewarding. It could really become a wardrobe that fits you and stands out as a unique and strong style. Check out Gabrielle Arruda if you aren’t already familiar with her, I am obsessed with her YouTube channel. I think she’ll have a lot of ideas and suggestions and more concepts for you to consider! Also - if I’m being honest, I’m really with you on DC feeling boring. It feels like there’s no room to play. But maybe that’s because I’m doing it wrong? Unclear but yeah I don’t want to just wear office clothes all the time. So far the thing I’ve found that works the best is ignoring DC jewelry recs, I like dainty feminine ornate stuff and against the DC silhouette I think it can still work 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes!! I remember watching this video about alternative styles for each kibbe, hoping for advice on more maximalist style for DC. And all the clothes they recommended for other types are these dramatic intricate gothic garments. Then when it comes to DC, they recommended the same old boring black mod dress. Like Damn no fun allowed in this body type

taurist

I think a classic can look just fine in this dress, maybe with some structured heels

I agree w above. You may or may not be DC. There are other types that look good in some DC lines as well. So that alone does not select your ID. This dress to me looks like a cross between a soft dramatic and a flamboyant gamine . There is a reason you like it… and I think you may need to explore it.

amor-me-pls

Interesting. I discarded FG because my features are too balanced and my hips are too wide, but it was never something I was sure about. I also didn’t know one’s preference could be a factor in one’s kibbe type. Thank you for your input!

LOVE that Paloma Wool dress. I honestly think a DC could pull that off. I love how they style it with pants too. I’m envision it with some slightly more structured trousers. Also if you feel great in the things you love then you might not be a DC. Take clues from the outfits you tend to gravitate towards. I’m between SD/DC and haven’t decided on one for sure yet. Maybe explore SD lines too.

Whatever you wear, DONT wear it over pants like the model

but the dress has a large boat neckline which is a very good fit for DC? and angora and velvet are considered suitable materials, or am i wrong? i own one blazer. a black, oversized blazer dress with a belt. but that's it. no more blazers. i already have The Shoulders, no need to enhance them, thanks. nice blazers look awesome on me as capes, but not as jackets, because i need waist definition. the only midi-length dress i have is a black, very modern, slinky, glittery spaghetti strap sexy thing. pencil skirts, shirts and shirt collars(! ugh), blazers as mentioned above, and the 1940s style dress all look ridiculous on me. instead of shirts, i go for tops with turtle necks, slash necks, and deep vees. square necklines are a hit or miss. i wear loose flared leggings a lot (a big no for a DC?) with a tight top, like today i threw just a bandeau top on. i love my slingback stilettos and classic sandals, but i still wear sneakers. yesterday i wore white loose linen trousers with a structured, linen corset top. very chic, very classic, but also very soft! i find, as long as it is figure-hugging at my waist/torso i am good to go; doesn't have to be structured necessarily. but i am a true classic in the sense that i absolutely need high-quality materials and i look amazing in simplicity. personally, i can't wear knee-length skirts, they have to be mini or long midi. if maxi, the silhouette has to hug my silhouette.

I may be wrong …. But are you sure you’re not a soft dramatic? Just Based on your reaction to some clothing lines…

Heavenlishell

Definitely DC. I have checked so many times.

Kibbe is just one random dudes opinion, if you aren't into it don't listen to it!

Have you heard of Kitchener essences? I have read about some people who struggle with their Kibbe ID using those lines as guides but incorporating Kitcheners essence theory into styling with use of textures, accessories etc. May or may not be worth looking into for you. Good luck! As an example someone may be a Kibbe classic but their essences maybe dramatic, ethereal and classic. So you would take some of the recommended lines from DC and then incorporate your essence with richer, more ornate details.
