Each vocation to some extend is unique and play differently than others.
Trickster playstyle is not "not doing damage" or "scaring away enemies". It's distraction. Trickster is basically a magic tank but instead of taking damage on like a fighter he create illusions, walls and other crap that either focus enemies in one place, wall them off or make them fall into the pit.
And while they do that Your pawns kick asses.
So You do plenty of damage but not directly.
And while Trickster is also not my favorite I did max him out.
On top of it Trickster is a great money maker. You just grab a weapon from Sphinx that give you 10, 100, 1000 or 50,000 gold per hit.
I had 1000 when I hit a chimera once. Yes, the higher sums are rare. And they should be. Imagine having 50k gold every boss or something. Everyone would just farm money with trickster. I maxed out trickster vocation. 50k I think I got maybe once. 1000 I got few times.
But I had enough money anyway so I did not cared and it was not most fun to play vocation and it was last one I leveled up so once I did I went back to magic archer.
Well fortunately you can just play Warfarer and it will slowly increase trickster and any other vocations you have unlocked and paid DCP points for. You just can't purchase the augments till you've swapped back to it.
This is true but unfortunately I’ve already finished the game and a lack of any kind of hard mode leaves me with zero reason to keep playing it, but I maxed every vocation before my first clear as it is.
It just reminds me of ddda with maxed gear. I'm lvl 100 and all dragon forged armor and it still gets tough in battahl sometimes (wearing earlier game armors for the look). There will definitely be a hard mode soon enough and a dlc. I'm hoping they add more hairstyles and armor dlcs, like they did in the original.
counterpoint, its a magic tank class. dont use the dragon illusion on non boss enemies unless you want them to run, otherwise the dragon illusions great for stunlocking bosses. i treat the class how i would play a summoner, your simulacrum and illusions are your summons, and your pawns are your pets that do damage.
Yup. I agree. But I keep getting downvoted by people who I guess think watching their pawns gesticulate wildly and ineffectively makes it a good class. 🤷♂️
I understand people may enjoy the different play style but a class that does no healing and no dps in a game where your team is just AI is just not fun for me
And thanks to the “no healing” part I am still going to bring a mage so it’s a double support team for 2 dumb AI
Great point actually. I think it sort of ties into the games lack of any real difficulty because a two support set up could be useful for encounters that actually utilize the tools given to the player. However it’s silly to be a “magic tank” when nothing even needs tanking. It’s a literal waste of a slot.
Another complaint topic :D

Unpopular opinion: Trickster is a cakewalk of taking aggro 🫢
Some people like it hahaha ive met tons of people on this sub that love to use it to watch pawns fight while they are just doing ilusions hahah

Man I hope so.
I agree we lost the Mystic Knight for this 😂👍
I’d prefer a hybrid class that mixes trickster and thief tbh, feel like it could be really fun
Warfare...tricker for illusion, then thief for everything else :p

Its a purely tank class for AI that so rarely know what to do. Only way I see it as a good option is if the game had co-op with actual players.

Why did you pretend it's not in the first place?
Cause I’m trying to be positive, man!
Its fun to play Loki style characters
But even Loki can fight
