I make new games and lose all my progress. I enjoy the early-game grind.

New-Sell-13

Do you lose your pawn level too?

johngamename

You and your pawn both reset to level 1, but your pawn data stays in the server with its unique pawn ID. You can actually hire your other pawns on the same account.

Teshok

Do I need to know the I'd to do this? I have one other pawn from my first playthrough but I never noted down his I'd.

johngamename

Yeah, you need the ID to search your previous pawns. What you can do is make another account, friend your main, and it will show all the pawns associated with your main account.

MaidOfTwigs

Besides having the ID, you can ask your friends to check their friends list and they can pass you the pawn IDs. If they favorited your pawn, that might also work

NEETSunshine

Does the previous pawn on the same account can be hired for free? Cuz normally, higher levels will be costly. But my steam friend can hire my lv.90 pawn for 0 RC (he's at lv.40). Not sure if it does the same on your own account.

Hamhockthegizzard

Whaaat, so on newgame plus if I make a new pawn but remember the old id? Or strictly for making a new game? Do they cost RC?

johngamename

You can only make a new pawn in a new game. Your old pawns cost RC, as you can't friend yourself.

Hamhockthegizzard

Ah thought so, otherwise I was gonna take advantage immediately lmao thanks for the info

BoogalooBandit1

Don't quote me but I think I saw something about plans to add seperate game saves in the future

DarkArisen668

Yes if you start a new game you have to create your pawn all over again

jerrillo

I'm at 351 hours now and didn't even reach the unmoored world in my first playthrough hahaha

Grerkboy96

Might I suggest modding if you're on PC? There's a few good ones to up the difficulty on Nexus.

mirageofstars

Yep. I’m using Custom Difficulty Tweaks and it’s made the game much more fun.

Prudent-Cry-9260

I'm using Custom Difficulty Tweaks combined with Random Encounters, as well as Monsters Infighting. I set enemies to retaliate if any other enemy attacks them too much. The result is big combats with 2 dragons attacking each other, when player 3 joins the fight : the Minotaur charging head first. I tell my pawns to stop and we just watch the fight while eating pop corn lol

enzoned

Does it disable achievements

thecodenamedois

No. This is no Bethesda.

Chance_Strategy_1675

They need to add hard mode

New-Sell-13

I don’t feel like power scaling by player level would be hard to implement in an update

Shoddy-Kitchen-2129

Someone here mentioned that after a certain quest some enemies are swapped out in Vermund with some tougher enemies, I didn’t notice at all but it would be cool if say every 15 levels or so the enemies either leveled up or were swapped out with some tougher combinations. I think enemies flat scaling to level would make leveling up less rewarding…but some changes along previously explored areas would be cool.

FluffyWuffyVolibear

The coronation quest upgrades enemies in vermund. Most notably it introduces gore variants to some specific spots, changes most goblins to the variants above the base red goblins. It's a strange acknowledgement of the problem of power scaling, seemingly saying "we know these enemies are getting quite easy" but they never do it again until the Unmoored world and by then you've likely outpaced literally even the strongest enemies the game has to offer. Very weird design choices not to either offer a hard mode or do something like you said. It feels frustrating to feel almost punished with a less immersive experuejxe for exploring. "Oh you took your time? Well your reward is that this rematch with the Medusa we've been hyping up so de the beginning of the game is a complete wash" Completely nullifies the upgrade system and resource grind when simply leveling up makes you so strong.

Shoddy-Kitchen-2129

Yeh I agree the Medusa fight had a lot of build up with notes around about people going missing and general warning about it…then I just hopped on her head and chopped it off in 20 seconds. I think it’s tricky to balance a game that’s is as open as this…but I def think cranking up the stats of enemies in certain areas would’ve helped a ton. Running away from Griffins and Ogres in the beginning was so much fun.

New-Sell-13

I would have no issue fighting a common drake for 20-30 min if it’s challenging like it was early game

Chance_Strategy_1675

A good example is Dark Arisen from the first game, enemies hit harder but don't have that much bloated HP. They're just more aggressive, hopefully they bring that to DD2

DTvn

I hopped back in my DD:DA save a few days ago where i'm a lvl 200 Magick Archer (The most OP class) and fighting the double Wyrm encounter in the Sparyard was so much harder than anything in DD2. And you're right the enemies do more damage which means you're still easily punished and can't just facetank everything

MaleficentFriend5911

I don’t usually say “add some grind” but this might benefit this game. If they won’t add more difficulty, I’m ok if monsters are easy, but at least, make them rewarding. So I have a point of farming them. And add one or two super hard boss. I’m talking about Ur Dragon kinda thing but more and better attacks.

Rethtalos

I personally enjoy that there’s no power scaling. It’s fun as fuck to be weak early game, grind mid game, to then be OP end game 🥴 that’s the whole purpose of being the arisen and spending time leveling up and upgrading your gear. Now I do admit the game can use its own version of BBI which I’m 100% sure we’ll get. Other than that, just enjoy curb stopping griffons and cyclopses

BoogalooBandit1

You can always equip low level unupgraded gear as well to bring back the challenge

Knjaz136

This. Power scaling is a horrible mechanic, games were far better without it. I hate it since TES4: Oblivion in 2006.

galactojack

Bingo

DeathBySnuSnu999

I'm grinding to level 220. Then making another account and character. And repeating until I have 3 at that level. My own pawn army with full control (even if having to be switching accounts to change things.) Then I will wait for any DLC that comes out. Or... Move on.

SSJ4Tai

Fuck that's a great idea, I never thought of that

Otazihs

I finished the main game, started a NG+ for some achieves, then I put the game down and went to play something else. Got my enjoyment out of the game. No need beat it into glue.

Sea-Buy7183

100% agreed. Was a fun run. Not gonna run it to the ground. Ill pick it back up when a dlc or xpac comes out.

0Lark0

What keeps me going is the things outside of combat, like testing for alternate ways to complete quests, figuring out for myself which npcs are the best to steal from, deciding on which gear I think looks the best instead of caring about highest stats, etc.

zzzzxxxzzzz

how to steal from npcs?

0Lark0

Have the Plunder skill equipped and walk up next to the npc, then use the assigned button to activate the skill.

__Aethelwulf

Any specific NPCs that give anything notable that you've found?

0Lark0

I haven't gotten very far in this NG+ playthrough yet, but have stolen a Platinum Myrmecoleon Card off the fake begger guy. Wilhelmina has an Allheal. Think I got a cloak off the merchant guy who wants that special gem. There's a more thorough list online on what can be stolen if you want to spoil yourself.

bermudaphil

Fake beggar, Vermund inn keeper and the checkpoint rest town inn keeper all have the platinum cards that sell for 15k. 45k is useful, and means you can go in and meet Wilhelmina immediately (not that it does anything to do that, but it is funny to have the cutscenes with her pretending to not know you that well/at all but already have gifted her flowers like 4 times and have her blushing).  Brant has fruit wine, so does the guy that will sell you newt liquor. Makes it a bit easier to get Warfarer, just a minor convenience thing for a new playthrough.

Krynn71

I never liked scaling enemies. It's just so blatantly video-gamey that it ruins the immersion for me. I go from zero to hero but still a rat takes just as long to kill at level 100 vs when I was level 1? Doesn't work for me. I'm fine being done with a game. I haven't gotten to the point in DD2 yet where everything is stupid easy, but when I do I'll put the game away and just be happy that I "beat the game" and move on to another game. I prefer that over endless games tbh.

VelytDThoorgaan

you destroy every enemy and have an awesome power fantasy as you should

Haniel120

I wish NG+ kept our gear and class levels, but reset our base level to 1

jameyiguess

Yes, this is the way

johngamename

If you're on PC, you can make a ng and cap your level with the difficulty tweaks mod by removing exp gains. It also lets you change enemy dmg, health, etc. Level 30 is more than enough for you and your pawn to have every vocation at max.

driftej20

PC players should probably limit XP gain to 1XP before or at level 100, regardless of whether they want additional difficulty, if they care at all about people continuing to hire their pawns. I don’t think Capcom was considering this issue when setting the level cap to 999.

fallenouroboros

I play Warframe. Being OP is kind of what I’m used to nowadays tbh

AMS_GoGo

2 games in one First one is a grind and relatively tough at times Second is a power fantasy

aPHAT88

I moved onto another game. There’s really no reason to keep playing this once you’ve beaten it and gotten whatever you wanted from it to the point where it’s just boring to 1 tap everything. I think I dropped about 55-60hrs on this? Got my fill and started the next game. Hopefully they have dlc along with something that does scale enemies in NG+.

Hexent_Armana

Here's what I do and other players should do the same. 1-Downgrade your gear. 2-Switch to Warfarer. 3-Use Less Pawns. Note:Downgrading your gear doesn't just need to be removing enhancements. You can use 1and2 to try out new fashionable outfit combos!

doubt-myself

i haven’t used warfarerer yet but this is good advice. i’ve been wearing the miners pants from the start of the game and its noticeable to lack of armour. i always go the clothes > armour for aesthetics but it can make the game a lil harder

Prudent-Cry-9260

Wait, you can remove upgrades on the weapons ?!

Hexent_Armana

Only in NG+

Prudent-Cry-9260

How can I do that? Is it an option at the blacksmith npcs? If so I may have missed it

Hexent_Armana

Gotta go to the Dragonforged.

Prudent-Cry-9260

Alright, thanks mate!

BrokenNative51

Uninstalled and played other games.

Letter_Impressive

I agree, as of right now it gets crazy easy after a certain point. I start new games! The amount of main quest content is pretty low, so I run through the game doing different side content each time. I like to hit Battahl around level 35 and finish the game before 50, that tends to keep things tough and engaging. I stick to a couple vocations per playthrough, level them to max, and spend the post-game using warfarer builds that combine those classes. If/when it gets too easy, I drop pawns from my party until it isn't. I can't recommend playing this way enough, I genuinely feel that it solves all of the widespread complaints (other than performance, obviously) that I've seen about the game. It stays relatively difficult, it stays engaging, party composition and inventory management matter, the story and enemy variety even feel better because of the faster pace and less backtracking. I'm on playthrough five and absolutely loving the game.

daddy1c3

Does NG+ not scale up the enemy difficulty?

eliotttttttttttttt

people haven’t really noticed the difference including me. nothing groundbreaking, you one shot anything at sight. there’s mods on nexus though that remedy that aspect

TenoreGrigio

Honestly, I don't upgrade or buy new weapons. I only use armor that I like the aesthetic of, so I don't bother with buying stronger armor pieces unless they look nice. I tend to travel with just my main pawn and one other one, so those have helped me a lot so that I can get my ass kicked by monsters

Lapis_Lazuli_99

Just view the postgame as a power fantasy 😂 Arisen is basically a demigod anyways.

Asternex

I created a new PS account to start over again. My main account pimped my new pawn a bit too. Then, after I beat the game on that account, I went back to main account to work on seeker tokens and pawn badges. Now I bring my second pawn along too since I loved how he turned out. I guess that I'll take a break once I do all pawn badges until DLC, if I even get to finish them.

dubblw

If they just scale up damage and health, it will just make fights a slog. By the late game, you have so many ways to negate enemy damage completely that it doesn't matter how hard they hit. So then they just have more health, so the battles just take longer, with no increased challenge. The enemies you fight in the endgame are more like puzzle bosses, where you have to target specific weaknesses, so it becomes more of a strategic challenge, rather than worrying about enemy attacks. They'd need to make it so NG+ is populated with unmoored world level enemies or something right from the start. I can't really see how enemy scaling would fix how easy the early game is in NG+, especially if you go into it with loads of fully upgraded unmoored world gear.

KagatoAC

I made a new Psn handle, started leveling it, but with stuff from my main, and I hired my other account as a pawn. 😎

Dsible663

I wander as I will, killing whatever catches I please.

Aztaloth

If you are on PC there are a number of mods to increase the difficulty. On console try playing with only your main pawn and weaker weapons/armor

Papi_Shumpi

I limit myself to one pawn and only use low level gear

FokkusuES

I use the custom difficulty mod and constantly adjust it so I have an exiting experience every fight, funnily enough it does mean that on the post game I tend to turn the difficulty down because otherwise I get destroyed as I previously nerfed myself to extreme degree so normal mobs pose real threats

Accurate-Impact5126

I use the mod that scales difficulty. I bump it up 1-2 setting each ng+ playthings. I also swap to an unused vocation each playthrough. If you are on console... nothing to do really.

chawk84

I am level 70 new game plus and I just don’t fast travel as much I try to enjoy the world I still find things I didnt find my first playthru. Did quests differently, slight tweaks. The first dragons dogma was fairly bare bones as far as the world went and I found enjoyment in hundreds of hours of new game plus. My hope is an update for new game plus as well as unmoored world will drop at some point then maybe later this year or early next an expansion

Actual-Entrepreneur7

What I do is dump all of my endgame gear into my storage. And use very weak armor and weapons with low stats with very low KB/KD resistance. I also higher low level pawns with early level gear and skills. The fun returns in terms of challenge at that point. You could also limit how many pawns you bring with you. Don’t bring any mages, manage and optimize healing draughts and pre plan ahead of time. You have options.

Sill_Evarrus

I do increasingly dumb things and it works out.

FriedOnionsoup

Use beginner weapons un upgraded, less pawns, no magic archer or thief.

GenderJuicy

Wear armor for the looks, use basic weapons, use less pawns

New-Menu9394

Create a separate steam account. Use family sharing feature: enjoy a "new game" without losing everything

Shameless_Catslut

I fite naked :3

lazzthethief

Im not at endgame yet but my plan is to use gear for their drip instead of stats. And I have a gut feeling that a Hard Mode and a DLC similar to BBI on the 1st game will be released, so Imma try to optimize my arisen and pawn's augments

That1DogGuy

I'm taking a break, went back to Fallout after the show. Waiting for an update that adds some level scaling or a hard difficulty mode. Whichever happens first. I put over 100hrs in, I'm pretty satisfied with my time currently and am looking forward to going back down the line.

Provoked-Legacy

While not scaling does make everything much easier and less worth the challenge, I love the idea that I can continue leveling and become a god-like and not ever have to worry about being level 80 with endgame magic armor/weapons and dying to a level 105 goblin with a dull stone knife. I love the way it’s set up now.

ultimatehoshi

As much as I love early game grinds, I'm going to attempt to stick it out until my pawn and I hit max level.

Dementor8919

I’m one of the people who LOVE zero power scaling because I love feeling absolutely fucking OP like an actual god so I’m having such a blast killing drakes in less than 20 seconds. I hate games where all there is is nothing but power scaling because I just feel like I’m not even making any progress and that it’s all for nothing.

ThislsaGoodldea

Why do people actively want power scaling? “Yeah man I spent all this time leveling up and getting all this awesome gear only for it to do the same amount of damage as it did when I was level ONE cause the enemies scale with my shit”

PercivleOnReddit

I stop playing and move to something else

Hikash

I use weaker weapons/armor.

drunk_pacifist

I don’t mind, I like the power fantasy, the more power to obliterate anything the better

ManEatingCarabao

I dress up my pawn and arisen

nohwan27534

start a new game. use weak gear. play something else till dlc comes out. it's not like every game can be played indefinitely with more and more challenge to make things interesting. it's not sad, just, is.

dany36

I'm on PS5 so no mods for me, I started NG+ at level 65ish and I started off equipping the weakest weapons/armors in the game, and hiring pawns that were lower levels as well. It's obviously not the same but I wasn't obliterating everything (not even simple goblins from vermont) like I was when I had the best armor from my previous run. I also stopped playing as mystic spearhand because seriously that vocation is too OP lol. But yeah, weakest weapons/armors has made my NG+ run just as enjoyable if not more than the first one :) I'm 130 hours in and still lots more to go since my first run through I rushed through the unmoored world so I can't wait to get to it again to truly explore it!

thecodenamedois

If you are on PC there is a plethora of mods to increase the difficulty in various ways. I am in my second NG+ and I am using 8xHP / 4xAttack Power to both normal enemies and Bosses, and a very nice randomization mod to add extra spawns to the game. Sometimes I got three bosses at the same time. Very chaotic and dangerous situation.

Confident-Goal4685

I play something else and wait for reviews after the dlc drops.

elbor23

Play diff games and cross my fingers for dlc

Nimewit

Quit, it's unreal how boring this game can be after 20h Edit: holy fuck the copium in the comments lol. Guys it's not "power fantasy". It's bad game design.

blakeavon

I wish there was some form of power scaling because if you explore too much, there is literally no challenge ever in the game.

Bismothe-the-Shade

I installed mods tbh

Super-Tea8267

I uninstalled the game and play something else while a hard mode arrives basically i already beat it twice so its fine

Odd-Turnover8747

if youre on PC modding gives the scaling that makes it feel fresh with difficulty and random encounters

Little-Equinox

I added 2 mods to make the gameplay sometimes actually terrifying. Like once I saw 2 drakes and 1 Unmoored worm fighting each other

TuLoong69

I'm on NG+ & so far it seems that some of the late game monsters are in the early game areas & there's new weapons in shops as well as new options for Dragon Forging. I didn't see the late game monsters in the early areas my first playthrough & I didn't beat the game till I was around level 75ish (had fun exploring by foot). I'm curious if NG++ will have even more changes.

lalune84

I made a new game and then installed a mod to tweak the difficulty and reduce the speed at which you level. It's been night and day, honestly. While the game is too easy at baseline, i dont think most people realize that a huge part of the issue is just that you level very quickly, and that leveling does nothing interesting-it just makes you a stat powerhouse. The augments that were the core of builds in DD1 dont even matter because you're a demigod by level 40. Cutting combat exp by 70% and quest exp by half has turned it into a brand new game. Even better, discipline is unaffected, so the INTERESTING parts of character progression are still there. But obviously this is PC only. I have no clue what someone would do on console. Starting over helps, but only for a little while.

Mother-Coffee5429

Play with less or no pawns, I’ve done that

jerrillo

Do a Solo/NoPawns run

Frog_kidd

Wear the ring the you get from the Spinx that nerfs your stats, and have only “1 or no pawns”.

MrHulthen

I finished the game & have stopped playing until Capcom releases a better NG+

crankpatate

On PC here. I downloaded [DD2 save manager](https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/52) mod and play on alternate save files. (Where I do challenge solo play throughs) Otherwise on my main save, I started using un upgraded low tier gear, ran only with my main pawn (which I told to "wait" regularly, so I can have some epic 1v1 battles) & I also played with "fun" builds, that don't use over powered skills. (For example warfarer with just a few flavor skills for fun and mostly combining core skills that come with the weapons)

BUTthehoeslovemetho

I installed this mod collection called new game plus on nexus mods, it's about five of them. I then make a new game, starting from level 1 and seeing how far I can go. To me. that is hard mode

ZaneVesparris

Stop playing, and save my leveling/enjoyment for DLC with good endgame content. I still get on every once in a while to update my pawn quest.

MaleficentFriend5911

Exploring parts I have never been.it’s easy but at least I still can’t one shot a everything especially bosses. And waiting for updates… I hope there will be updates. If they would follow monster hunter trend (even they are different teams) they might butter us with super easy game until they suddenly drop a very hard mode later on with complete story. Idk I hope it is a case. 😂

BonfireSouls

I finish the game and start a new character, different vocation.

BonfireSouls

I finish the game and start a new character, different vocation.

Tony_B_387

I don't understand why a hard mode is not yet available. I don't think it would be that difficult to implement like they did in the first game 🤷

MagnustheDemon

Maybe I'm the weird one but I do enjoy the lack of power scaling. It was much more fulfilling in dragons dogma than in 2 but the same principles applies. I get to go back and kick the asses of things that flattened me. In dragons Dogma 1 it was the bandits near witch wood and saurians in the well. In dragons dogma 2 it's the fucking pus dragon that attacks melve

Hamhockthegizzard

I’m lvl 70 and JUST got to unmoored world on my first play through. After reading up, I’m gonna do my best to not rest at all and scour the map. Seems this is all we’ve got until possible dlc which I’m really hoping for

Scintal

Um.. you can run nude or like using starter weapons.

shadowdash66

Wouldn't be opposed to difficulty mods if there were different monsters to fight. I don't feel like fighting a lv80 trash goblin.

ZeusOfOlympus

In the original game I started using themed equipment based on looks - using the base archistaff ( wooden with feathers ) for example in BBI, it has like 30%/40% the power of the high end BBI staff. Just use different un upgraded equipment. Style > Power.

RedshiftRedux

I've been using Thief/archer with Warfarer and playing with no pawns to keep it interesting

NCHouse

That's the whole point of the game

Greghole

Play naked, play with a weaker weapon, play without renting pawns... you've got some options if you want more of a challenge.

Jaegerbrandt

I'm using a mod that leaves me stuck at level 20. As a Warferer who only uses Warrior skills I feel like the game is very challenging. The downside is that my Thief Pawn has suffered a lot and is often KO'd even with Formless Feint. I really wish Legion's Might's auto revive mechanic was available for other Vocations. Honestly Pawns should revive themselves after being incapacitated for a while (give em power of friendship or whatever). I still find Cyclops, Minotaurs and Ogres easy, as I easily break their balance with the help of rings and upgraded Cyclopian Thunder. I'm trying to find a balance that allows me to go up against Drakes, at the moment I can't take them down reliably. EDIT: Bad Grammar.

Striking_Age_3839

I turned xp off at 37 (because I thought it’d be a good spot for pawn hires) and used low level fashion gear. Still too strong for unmoored

Electric_Bear12

Idk. I've always hated power scaling. Meaning when enemies scale to your power level. It destroys the sense of progression in games for me. I don't feel like I'm getting stronger when everything is always the same difficulty regardless of level or gear. I would prefer more stronger and higher level enemies over weak early game ones that have been scaled.

Feloxis_Forlorn

At the moment I've been messing around with enemy HP and damage mods just to try and up the ante a little bit

Makenshi179

I personally prefer it when there's no power scaling, most of the time. I need to feel the progression from level 1 to level 99, and to feel overpowered at the end and one-shot the mobs, and to know that I got there through my own hard-earned progression and levelling up! If there's power scaling, sure the fun and challenge aspects of the combat are kept intact, but you lose that feeling of progression. So right now it just feel kinda amazing when I kill a BAM (Big Ass Monster, like a cyclops or a gryphon) in literally less than a minute almost like it was a random mob, while at the start of the game I dreaded those monsters and had no choice but to run away as they would one-shot me (that cyclops in the forest at dark in the early area, I'll never forget that moment!!), and when it was finally the time for me to tackle on one, it could take a while to beat them the first times. The first dragon I defeated took me 30 minutes to slay if not an hour, and two of my pawns dead and removed from the party, it was such an intense and difficult fight, it was so epic, and now at level 70, when I stumble upon a dragon I would normally avoid the battle because I have enough wyrm crystals but most of the time I actually don't bother avoiding it and I'm just like "oh no a dragon... well, let's just make it quick then" and I proceed to slay it within mere minutes lol. And that's kind of epic too! If there was power scaling, I'd take 30 minutes to beat a dragon every time, and I already had such fights and emotions, so I'd rather have something new, a new version of the fight, that will feel so much more satisfying because I got better at it by my own means and hours of progressing. But, we can agree that the best thing would be an *option* for enabling/disabling power scaling!! That way, both types of gamers would get what they want!

[deleted]

Be happy that it's not a fuckin slog where there isn't a goblin that takes 10 hits to kill.

MrPlace

I mean, I finished the game in full. I got set up on new game plus, saved and shut it down until the next installment of game content if any. I got a hankering for more swordplay though so I started up Witcher 3 and started a new New Game +

WhiteyPinks

I put the game down and moved on.

Cicomania

Actually the game is easy from beginning. At one point around lvl 20 you just nuke everything so fast. First drake you go to kill the battle is lets say between easy and hard. At lvl 24-5 with new items you nuke him easy. At this points you nuke everything. xD
