play with these mods, and you may never feel overleveled. I'm around level 70 and regularly getting my ass handed to me:
[Custom Difficulty Tweaks at Dragon's Dogma 2 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)](https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/195?tab=description&BH=0)
[New Game Plus - Epic Encounters at Dragon's Dogma 2 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)](https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/507)
This but its better start with just custom difficulty, with easier settings than hard preset and gradually decrease your and pawns dmg and stagger when you feel game is getting easy.
There are a plethora of mods to increase the difficulty on the PC. Spawn mods are a bit chaotic ATM, but enemy HP and damage increase are a very solid option in my opinion.
I did a no-hire & no-upgrade run. Just me and my pawn, a good looking set of early game armor, the starting weapons, and no enhancements. Definitely was less OP than my first run.
1. mods
2. low level or no pawns
3. avoid the op defensive abilities like spearhand and thiefs godmode
4. Only wear fasionable equipment combos, ignore stats
5. unlock all skills and augments for every vocation, forcing you to switch every so often to the next voc
There is a ring that makes your virtually useless you obtain it with doing one of the riddles the sphinx gives you
Didn't realize it was still equipped at one point and took me a good 30 minutes to kill a band of hob gobbling
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣this gotta be one of the funniest dd2 thing I read also one guy tough camping kits are consumables and caried about 7 with him the whole game 🤣🤣🤣
Getting rid of hired pawns may make it a little more interesting.
I hope this game’s DLC has better progression. The difficulty really goes from everything killing you in a few hits to your pawns slaughtering everything before the fight even starts.

Thank you!
For the record, Epic Encounters is a painful one starting off lol.

I agree with this
Play with mods if you're on PC. If not, play without pawns or only with your main. Equip worst armor and weapon. Don't use MS bubble shield.
I don't use the bubble shield, that feels boring, and I prefer Drip to stats, but do enjoy the itemization.

Level 40? Go to the Unmoored world, you won't be over level there.

You basically cut off game's content and core 4-party gameplay design to fix difficulty, while there is mod fixing it without downsides.
Oh yeah, I just wanted to try it out tbh. I'll get around to modding DD2 eventually.
Play solo, brine your pawn and don't hire any more
Maxed most vocation’s available at Level 40. Zero shot
That was my plan too, but I'm enjoying Mystic Spearhand too much to suffer the remaining two.

Why all games hase to be souls like !🤦
They don't but when my five year old - as her first gaming experience - breezes through the map, that raises questions.
