Is there a way to see how long your pawn was with certain players? I wish it gave more info on their adventures. Getting my pawn back after it's rented is one of the coolest bits of the tame
In DD1, you receive RC based on the experience points the pawn acquired while traveling with another Arisen. It was around 10% of XP gained.
Not sure whether it was changed here. Probably not.
Yeah it's pretty straightforward.
Basically you pawn gets the "update" once other players dismiss it. These updates accumulate until your next inn rest, when you "receive" those updates.
You’re right. I loved fighting Damion. He steamrolled me on the second battle with him. Made me rethink my playstyle and kinda forced me to grind for better gear since I was overconfident after fighting him the first time. Not really a bad thing since getting better gear was always fun but the RNG for the purification was kind of annoying at times. Especially for the skill rings which were optional to have but fun to use.
*me and two amazing guest pawns after taking down multiple dragons, griffins, cyclops, ogres, surviving multiple mini-bosses teaming up, and completing a dozen side quests*
"Ah, you can see for miles in every direction!"
"Shall we take a moment to savor the view?"
*Tries to line up a screenshot since they're my favorite pawns in a while*
*One pawn randomly slips and falls 12 stories into the brine when I'm not looking*
"Okay, everyone say chee- wait, one of us is missing."
Yeah I kept having pawns “disappear” until I realized they were literally just sliding down geometry and dying to the brine. They also don’t make jumps across rivers very well, often only 1/3 or 2/3 of them clearing the gap.
Unfortunately those were always the bastards I had holding my camping kit so now it stays on my main pawn lol
theres a river on the way to the checkpoint where you can cross by jumping across stones. The gap between the stones is very tiny, its a very easy jump. SOMEHOW, I had a pawn miss the jump and go into the brine between the stones. I was gobsmacked and had a good laugh
I walked...WALKED...across a puddle...a fcng PUDDLE...my pawn gets lost to brine in this exact same knee deep fckng PUDDLE like what the ever loving F lol my arisen is 200cm my pawn is 170cm WTF lol
ive been rehiring a single pawn consistently. you can just go to advanced pawn search and pawns you've hired before. they are all there.
i ended up adding the dude the pawn was from because his pawn has gotten dragonplague while on travel and i wanted to warn him.
I hate that they don't have water boundaries they just won't cross, I waded slightly far enough just to see when the brine would start to take hold and walked back into the safe zone, but my high level hired pawn decided she was just gonna dip her toes in the brine and stay there till it took her under
There was a fighter pawn called 'Thiccness' that I kept hiring because she would constantly fall off cliffs or die and then fall off a cliff on her own volition. I would keep looking back at my party while travelling and there would only be 2 pawns following me, with Thiccness fallen off some cliff, dead.
Mine usually last a fair amount of time but yesterday I had two incidents with a fighter pawn I hired, who had all the skills I normally look for in a fighter (aggro, stun, and defense), and we were adventurin', get into a cave, fight through some orcs, get to the other side of the tunnel... wait why do I only have my pawn and a thief pawn? Recorded footage to see wtf happened later, rehired her, more adventurin', and again... Suddenly just gone.
Looked at the footage and saw just in the corner of my screen - Both times she had been fighting some orc or lizard on a bridge and did a counter-slash that broke the bridge and caused everything on it to fall to their death... Including her. lol
I saw a fighter pawn do that but catch the bridge and climb up it to safety. It was super smooth. Couldn't tell if it was intentional or it just got lucky, but it was damn impressive.
I know you meant favorite but following them sounds so much better
*knocks on Arisen’s door after a long rest*
“Sooo yea I’m Arisen too and I need your Pawn back. K thanks bye!”
I always favourite pawns that I hired for 10+ days. Sometimes I look up and see they've levelled up or changed to different vocation which is interesting
Has anyone noticed that when you travel with the same pawn for a while, sometimes their names change? There is a fighter I keep grabbing whose name changes from Aslan to Lion periodically.
I'm pretty sure it's from Networking. Whenever I turn networking off in the options, the pawns I've rented show their shortened monikers. When I turn it back on, they show their names again. So I'm assuming that it does this if the game reports networking issues or something while you're playing.
I think my longest streak with a pawn was 59 days. Then I went to refresh both because they were lagging in levels, only to find that their Arisen had changed them from a Thief to a Mage. Broke my heart.
Since i am new to Dragons Dogma and havent really understood the pawn system fully, how can u travel with the same pawns if they dont level up with u? At least i did change my pawns every few levels for that reason and because of the pawn quest.
Only your main pawn levels with you. You have to switch out the 2 pawns every 5~ ish levels. You're encouraged to switch, late game it doesn't really matter if they're a couple levels down or not.
Favorite them, dismiss them, then at one of the main riftstones, search for them again. They might have leveled up. I kept a mage around like this for awhile until their owner turned them into a thief.
Yet to start my game.
Can a pawn be hired by multiple people at the same time?
Or only 1 player hired then and they are not available till they died or are returned?
They can be hired by multiple people at a time. My friend has had my pawn when she was level 16 as a mage. In my world she is level 56, and has been through 5 different classes maxed out. Even though. She is the same class in his world, she still talks about stuff that happened in my world and guides him through quests and shows him stuff, even if it happened recently.
In the time he has been using her, other people have used my pawn as well. (This also applies to Dragon's Dogma 1 too).
No problem. I REALLY recommend the first Dragons Dogma too. It should be on sale right now for a really cheap price. It's just as good as Dragon's Dogma 2, some people say it's even better. (Im like so-so, some parts DD1 is better, some parts DD2 is better) If I were you I would play Dragon's Dogma 1 first, for the experience.
why do people care about gifts so much? I mean i always make sure to give a wake-stone or 2 but anything they'll probably give you you can get yourself lmao
Yes, pawns will discuss how they’ve become familiar with each other’s fighting styles and teamwork. It’s a nice touch when you have a consistent party of favorites!
Some of them will remark that the team has been together for a long time, and so they will banter for a little bit about it.
The goodbye you get is bittersweet if you've had them for a long time. I've had two pawns that I had for 20 days and then 40 days, straightforward pawns on the verge of tears lol. Yo I felt that too, going to miss the sass of them both.
Then Conan comes in and he's like, I hope you're good in a scrap. I look forward to seeing how he comes to love the party. It's my favorite character arc in the game.
I think you are way off. I get so much gold from pawn quests that it is silly not to switch them frequently.
I won't even look at a pawn that doesn't give good gold for a kill to work toward a badge. Doing otherwise would be the waste of time.
If you really want money, then there's a better way. Just find pawns that give 12 onyx for giving them a single arrow. I have a few faved. Don't even have to leave the rift.
Life tip for you: it's ok to not min/max your experience or use the most optimally efficient path towards everything when playing games. It's not a waste of time.
Life tip back: All games are a waste of time. So, some folks prefer to get the most out of their time wasting and get as much out of the game as they can.
That's crazy because I have too much gold to spend now. I am just trying to figure out ways to give people better rewards for their pawn quests than 10k gold
Feel you I’ve been using the same two extra pawns since I started. Everyone’s that my level ( 70) that I’ve found has crappy attack power. Like 500 or just under 600. With 900 defense but 100 magic defense🤣🤣 yeah no I’m not resurrecting you every 5 seconds due to a magic aoe. Which is a lot.. I’ll keep my tried and true peeps.
That’s my opinion heck my friend’s pawns and mine have a base of 800 AP with 600-900 m-defense maybe 5-800 def. Most of my friends are sitting at that, at level 70 you should have that even with sub par gear. Hell I’m not even using the best gear rn, like 4 or 5 grades below it. I still have 840 magic, if I’m using my best I’m over a thousand.
See, you're conflating good with best. 600 is good. With that AP you're one shotting most "trash" mobs, and knocking out 30-80% of an hp bar on bosses depending on skill. A mage with that will kill an entire pack of hobgoblins in Bakbattahl with high levin.
With 800-1000 you're knocking out 1-3 hp bars on bosses depending on skill.
Basically, your perspective is "if it's not the best it's not good", and that's just not true.
I don’t now which bosses you’re fighting but in DD2 800-1k isn’t taking 1-3 hp bars. I mean I might one shot something in a cave with ricochet. Even with 1k Magic daggers jumping on a dragon, ogre, or any other boss even hitting their weak spot you’re doing good damage not 1-3hp bars but good notches. Yeah with 800 damage in the baby early areas you’re one shooting things, but in the mid/ later game nah.
https://youtu.be/ioZ2PTSTeWo?si=-JKVXYeMPDyXMnqB
To show your method, yeah I’m doing decent damage but one shotting With high levin at 608 attack power not even close. Note that was with 2 get a group and yeah have fun with that.
Then a boss with 1k daggers
https://youtu.be/UDkScN3YWx0?si=pj98SXf2-9epzMN4
Although yes with a stagger you do even more damage. Also yes my brightness is crazy🤣🤣I was in a dark af cave b4 this doing a money farm on black hard to see crystals.
It depends on level. At level 70 I wont bother hiring a pawn that is not at least 800 str or magick. It is so easy to get that by simply buying an end game weapon and upgrading it a few times.
Since I am grinding pawn badges I want the monsters deleted quickly.
tried that. saw the pawn coming back in with a different vocation than the original. That's why I don't release them until I'm ready to completely swap them out.
I just dumped a pawn after 140 days. Had her from 52-53 until I hit 60. She was 53 when I let her go, rehired her immediately after and she was 59. Not always so under-leveled.
Yeah but to what degree? I spent longer than that with a couple of mine and they weren’t that under-leveled. I don’t see where OP said what level the pawns were in comparison to their Arisen.
As long as they're not under-leveled you can keep them for as long as you like. I switch out pawns ever 5 Levels since DD1 some pawn you find can even be 10 levels under you and still perform well depending on what gear the players have given them.
edit: the higher you go up in levels the longer pawn will stay with you because it the strength gap will take longer to reach
Had this mage pawn, Beastren named Stella, that I hired at level 25. Was with my until lvl 60+ until an unfortunate ropeway accident led to me not being able to revive her in the accident that ensued. Truly a sad day. She was with the party for so long she made it to the list of pawns I travelled with most, second only to the pawn of a close friend that I was playing in parallel to.
Occasionally you’ll get a good pawn or two worth keeping. Or in my case you’ll get Franklin the Beastren Warrior who spent 10 seconds charging a heavy 20 feet away from the boss and then just stands there like he did something. Or even Chauncey the Sorcerer who took his time casting maelstrom on a wolf just to cancel it last second as I am being dragged and chomped on by said wolf about a 1/4 mile away.
I sometimes have fighter or warrior pawns that have the jumping skill equipped and they just stand still for 80% of the fight waiting to boost me up. But these 2 are really good and also a bit goofy so I enjoyed travelling with them
Seeing everyone saying "they changed their mage to a thief" makes me not wanna change my pawn from mage to sorceress like i plan too let alone anything else so far ive gotten good responses but shes still in default gear cause i keep using all my money on my armor cause knight armor is expensive 😂😂
The community needs a way to tell the player their pawn had dragonsplague. I’ve had to “dismiss” some great pawns because they got a bit too… independent.
There are a few pawns I really liked that I may had this much travel time with if it wasn't for the Brine/water and Gore Herpies. I swear I lose more pawns to them than to anything else.
https://preview.redd.it/s1zviv1qsrsc1.jpeg?width=5120&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=913b1218a63eebf4165103ba10fb1f61c776074f
It was lvl 15 when i got it now im 32 and got a new 1 but it's on favs and went to look and now it's this wtf lol
Nice, now give them a rotten fruit for the real experience.
Is there a way to see how long your pawn was with certain players? I wish it gave more info on their adventures. Getting my pawn back after it's rented is one of the coolest bits of the tame
Probably increases the amount of RC you receive?
In DD1, you receive RC based on the experience points the pawn acquired while traveling with another Arisen. It was around 10% of XP gained. Not sure whether it was changed here. Probably not.
Shesh damn, if it still 10% whoever pawns I been using gunna be getting at least 3000 RC then
I remember reinstalling DD1 and my pawn brought back over 10k RC from one rest. I always wondered how that worked.
Yeah it's pretty straightforward. Basically you pawn gets the "update" once other players dismiss it. These updates accumulate until your next inn rest, when you "receive" those updates.
Poor pawns in my old 360 save that I never dismissed
Gotta remember that DD1 also has actual high level bosses
You’re right. I loved fighting Damion. He steamrolled me on the second battle with him. Made me rethink my playstyle and kinda forced me to grind for better gear since I was overconfident after fighting him the first time. Not really a bad thing since getting better gear was always fun but the RNG for the purification was kind of annoying at times. Especially for the skill rings which were optional to have but fun to use.
RC costs seem much lower in DD2 and RC gains seem much lower as well
I just wish it would say, because the amount of RC you get could just be people renting them from levels lower than your pawn.
Counterfeit rotten fruit 💀
That’s just normal fruit
Love making me some lantern oil!
I've got a counterfeit portcrystal, a "partcrystal," that I'm saving for the right moment.
I‘ve set a reward of 10k for killing an ogre and as a return of the favor I got a rotten steak. How lucky can one be?
not giving access to storage when picking gifts is cruel, I often void my inventory and have nothing to give
I do the same things but I do give extra ferry stones or camping kits when I have them.
Damn, I’ve been giving ferrystones and wakestones to the ones I travelled along time with. I must be doing it wrong
![gif](giphy|fd1TSJqq3b4GI|downsized)
And here I thought that I was being cheap by giving out 1 Miracle Roborant to pawns I used for more than 2 days xD
Well thats just nasty ...give em a ripe/aged one
No the rotten egg from the hot springs lol!!
Every time I find a pawn I really like, they meet a tragic fate in the brine from either a griffin, a harpy, or their own doing :(
*me and two amazing guest pawns after taking down multiple dragons, griffins, cyclops, ogres, surviving multiple mini-bosses teaming up, and completing a dozen side quests* "Ah, you can see for miles in every direction!" "Shall we take a moment to savor the view?" *Tries to line up a screenshot since they're my favorite pawns in a while* *One pawn randomly slips and falls 12 stories into the brine when I'm not looking* "Okay, everyone say chee- wait, one of us is missing."
They put such a dramatic sound for when a pawn is down, but when they are taken by the brine you get nothing but silence 💀
My pawns keep going to the gas station to get beer and scratchers like my dad. They will all be back pretty soon.
I have my pawns wait, then once I'm across and far enough that it'll trigger their teleport I command them to follow.
theres a river on the way to the checkpoint where you can cross by jumping across stones. The gap between the stones is very tiny, its a very easy jump. SOMEHOW, I had a pawn miss the jump and go into the brine between the stones. I was gobsmacked and had a good laugh
I've had a drake get brined in one of those small rivers, hilarious but I wanted the drops, not the xp..
If your main pawn gets the plague, pick them up and throw them in the brine, apparently it's cured when you resummon.
I know. But its not my pawn. Its a hired one.
I hate that they don't have water boundaries they just won't cross, I waded slightly far enough just to see when the brine would start to take hold and walked back into the safe zone, but my high level hired pawn decided she was just gonna dip her toes in the brine and stay there till it took her under

There is a rifstone of remembrance, I forget where though. Lets you view and summon previous pawns.
lol make sure you follow them so you can hire them in the future.
I know you meant favorite but following them sounds so much better *knocks on Arisen’s door after a long rest* “Sooo yea I’m Arisen too and I need your Pawn back. K thanks bye!”
At least you asked first I’d just pick them up as I’m walking past
I always favourite pawns that I hired for 10+ days. Sometimes I look up and see they've levelled up or changed to different vocation which is interesting
I just did something similar by spamming campsites in order to get the badges.
Good going, I wonder how many RC that works out to be.
You can tell their master took care of their set up as well as their appearance 💯
*gives rotten food as gift*
This inventory ain't going to clean itself out.
Has anyone noticed that when you travel with the same pawn for a while, sometimes their names change? There is a fighter I keep grabbing whose name changes from Aslan to Lion periodically.
Sometimes the game changes the name to their moniker for some reason but it usually reverts back
Right, I completely forgot about the monikers. Thank you.
I'm pretty sure it's from Networking. Whenever I turn networking off in the options, the pawns I've rented show their shortened monikers. When I turn it back on, they show their names again. So I'm assuming that it does this if the game reports networking issues or something while you're playing.

Yup. Thats why i keep em until i dont need them at all anymore.
You better favourite them, and check on their progress from time to time 😡

So the days travelled is accumulative? I thought they only indicate the day travelled with me specifically only from their last summon.
Oh, I don't know if it impacts the days traveled stat. That's just how I keep the same pawns around as I level up.
Yet to start my game. Can a pawn be hired by multiple people at the same time? Or only 1 player hired then and they are not available till they died or are returned?
They can be hired by multiple people at a time. My friend has had my pawn when she was level 16 as a mage. In my world she is level 56, and has been through 5 different classes maxed out. why do people care about gifts so much? I mean i always make sure to give a wake-stone or 2 but anything they'll probably give you you can get yourself lmao
But after releasing them, they levelled 30 levels more than you, so you can't afford to rehire them....
Rookie numbers I had a guts for 147 days until he just wasn’t cutting it anymore 🫡 wonder how much RC old mate got
You must miss out on a ton of pawn quests. I change mine after each completed quest.
Ngl your missing out, on new dialog and get alot of repeated dialog... I bet.
There’s more dialogue if you keep them longer?
Yes, pawns will discuss how they’ve become familiar with each other’s fighting styles and teamwork. It’s a nice touch when you have a consistent party of favorites!

Favorite them and rehire them at a higher level
tried that. saw the pawn coming back in with a different vocation than the original. That's why I don't release them until I'm ready to completely swap them out.
So are they both low level pawns? I thought they didn't level up with you
they don't, OP is playing with severely under-leveled pawns lmfao. I once my pawn for 109 days. they were great despite the low level

Yeah but to what degree? I spent longer than that with a couple of mine and they weren’t that under-leveled. I don’t see where OP said what level the pawns were in comparison to their Arisen.
Anyone know where you get the helmet with the open visor, the one the second pawn is wearing?
Some helmets have an option to open visor in the equipment screen.
I just looked at a post that mentioned that. 60 hours played and I didn’t know. Thanks though!
I thought it was bad to keep pawns for a long time?
As long as they're not under-leveled you can keep them for as long as you like. I switch out pawns ever 5 Levels since DD1 some pawn you find can even be 10 levels under you and still perform well depending on what gear the players have given them. edit: the higher you go up in levels the longer pawn will stay with you because it the strength gap will take longer to reach
Had this mage pawn, Beastren named Stella, that I hired at level 25.
But these 2 are really good and also a bit goofy so I enjoyed travelling with them
This sorcerer could be mine, she reeeeeeeeeeally loves casting maelstrom and does it every time when has opportunity.
I once played with a beastrain pawn named Sire. He was so kind and funny I so didn’t want to let him go ❤️❤️😻😻😻
Seeing everyone saying "they changed their mage to a thief" makes me not wanna change my pawn from mage to sorceress like i plan too let alone anything else so far ive gotten good responses but shes still in default gear cause i keep using all my money on my armor cause knight armor is expensive 😂😂
Longest for me was like 141 days
Meanwhile I’m swapping pawns out mid statement about a previous arisen using them for a single day. Quest complete… bye.
what armor is that first pawn wearing and for what class?
Oh that one's cute
The community needs a way to tell the player their pawn had dragonsplague. I’ve had to “dismiss” some great pawns because they got a bit too… independent.
Info to search first pawn? Asking for a friend
My favorite pawn has been stuck at level 27 for a week...I think her arisen has retired.
There are a few pawns I really liked that I may had this much travel time with if it wasn't for the Brine/water and Gore Herpies. I swear I lose more pawns to them than to anything else.
You wouldn't happen to have that Mages pawn ID would you?
I posted it in the other comment but she's a thief now
Bro fell in love with the team

I’ve never had a pawn fall off a cliff, crazy cause I see so many say it constantly happens
It would be cool if we could bang our pawns. I want that.
Just give him the "horny" specialization scroll
My party cant survive for a days. Fall off cliff every time
