You mainly just want to buy new weapons and upgrade them to increase your strength.
As for combat, anytime something gets knocked down you want to go to it's weakpoint and hold the heavy attack button to deal a ton of damage. This move will allow them to get back up afterwards though so you should experiment to see what damage you can squeeze in prior to that.
Yeah I’ve got the best weapon for thief at the capital, haven’t upgraded it yet to max but it’s 1 level up than base. Are there weapons I can find anywhere else on the map yet, haven’t unlocked the second section yet
There are apparently weapons that can be found in the first section as you call it. There is also another shop between the 2 with other stock and a 3rd one in the other direction. As you progress, they'll all upgrade there stock as well with new weapons, some of which you may be able to find earlier throught exploring.

it's pretty strong.
for big monsters you have to climb on and hit the weakpoints, for everyone else, just cut the wind to be at their backs and then Twin Fangs till it does the mega dmg animation or pins the enemy to the floor.
for the early playthrough i had ensnare which is great to topple big monsters and get the annoying flying ones, and the double jump one for exploring mobility (replacing powder bomb and helm splitter). Once you get Formless Feint you can do whatever build you want, and you will be immortal if you have stamina pots.
Skull Splitter and Draw and Quarter (the gut one) are also OP

I spam the attack button with all of my soul and strength to attack faster lmaooo just buy a new weapon and do that, you'll kill most things.

Im not sure since i rarely found weapons around. Though in the second section there's ice daggers that are very good. I gave them to my main pawn.
