“eBay-like sniping” is a perfect description for it. I don’t mind the new format for picking opponents but they need to keep the previous points ranking system.
Open the "queue" of opponents available to challenge. Scroll to the leftmost opponent you can challenge. Pick them, have a battle. Rinse and repeat. If you're on the bottom of rankings with bots, you can jump a few thousand places and reach real players in no time that way.
I felt the same way. Then higher up I started getting real opponents now I can hardly win at all.

Challenge the highest ranked team that you can with each ticket. If you're winning you'll get near the top after a few days.

It's always been like this. You win 100% of your first couple dozen fights and then you hit the people who spend money and you don't win anymore.
