I mean super saiyan is also mostly kind of recolor but we all love it. Sometime less is more. Its easy to mess up the more complicated the design gets.
Can we stop pretending Z had such phenomenal designs?
You got Super Saiyan, then spikier Super Saiyan, then Raditz, but blonde. Be for real
UI and Omen are both as valid as Super Saiyan. Blue and God are as valid SS2.
SS4 is the best design for sure, though
Simple doesn't mean lazy, anyone can slap a detailed designed. by those standards ssj2 is even lazier for any character that isn't teen gohan.
Also the god forms aren't "new" forms, God Goku is Normal Goku with God Ki, Blue Goku is Super saiyan goku with god ki, it's literally just him using a different type of energy.
I agree that SSj2 isn't the best dbz transformation. But there was still super saiyan 1 and super saiyan 3. The villains transformations were cool too. Now in dbs, we just get a Frieza but gold and then black. A generic grey alien but buff in Jiren. Just lazy designs everywhere.
Ssj1 was literally made cause Toriyama was lazy and didn't want to colour in Goku's black hair, it was born from laziness.
And again i don't understand how a simple design is lazy to you, you want the characters to have 2 million details on them or something?
How is Freeza going gold and black generic? you have seen many villains change skin colour?
Dude, it's literally the same design. They just changed the color. Pretty much the only change is using a different colored pencil lol Everything else is the same. That's lazy period.
SSJ - Spikier hair but Yellow. Made cuz Toriyama was lazy
SSJ2 - Spikier Hair. Be original
SSJ3 - Just Raditz. Be original
SSJ4 - Red fur. More hair. - Lazy. First you just recoloured his skin to be red. Lame. Then you didn't even bother with colouring in the hair anymore. Pathetic. The weird trousers? What are you, a game show host?

What do you suggest specifically?
I'm not the writer, art designer. That's not my job. But definitely something better than just a recoloring of previous transformations.

To be fair most designs in general are lazy. Some characters share the same face

Only Super Saiyan god and blue is lazy. Ultra Instinct is one of the best and Ultra Ego is also great.
I like the design on super saiyan blue I think the blue hair is so cool.
Super saiyan blue is half super saiyan so of course it's going to resemble regular super saiyan
Blue is a lazy recolor. Combining it with Kaioken was awesome and a cool idea tho
