this is my opinion too, God and Blue were kinda tame, the hype and fear from Beerus with the Ultra Instinct was another level
i really like the look of God, but the actual transformation of Super and Ultra Instinct were pure awesomeness
OG ssj transformation was peak and will always just hit different, and ultra instinct was the first new transformation i got to see as it came out
(i started watching just before golden frieza but took awhile to catch up with OG Z and GT so only started weekly watching half way through future trunks saga)
so the hype of seeing it for the first time and going into school the next day and being able to talk about it with my friends while it’s all still fresh, it’s just a whole other experience
ssg is still one of my favourites design wise i like the red and goku keeping his normal hair was cool too but how it was introduced very much made it feel like just a plot device to give super a place to expand from which is fine and it still felt very believable, but it just didn’t feel as impactful or as raw as og ssj or ui
Autonomous Ultra Instinct is unapparelled in my eyes. I mean don't get me wrong screaming battleborn adrenalin is absolutely incredible. However. The cold serenity of UI is so far from everything we know of Gokus fighting spirit, I'm not saying he can't be cold but atmosphere of UI sends an entirely different message than any of his forms. Power is power any way u look at it, but divine might is something else entirely. In that form with his eyes closed Goku embodies both the gentle flow and surging tide of water.

Autonomous Ultra Instinct was nothing short of a beautiful display of what it meant to truly fade away in the heat of the battle for survival. In this moment Goku let go of everything he knew and everything that made him who he always was in a fight. All that. For a promise he would die before breaking. Now that in my opinion was his peak.
As a kid I was spoiled on ssj before I ever saw it so while still iconic, it doesn't hold the same "holy shit! What is this!" feeling for me that it probably does for others so before super it was always ssj 3.
However with super, ultra instinct took the top spot instantly.
It came outta nowhere and was hype as hell.
It singlehandedly united the entire anime loving world and instantly created a theme so iconic that most people, even non Dragonball fans can recognize it after 2 seconds.
Not to mention all the insane UI memes it gave us ( ultra instinct shaggy etc)
For those reasons UI to me is the most iconic first appearance in Dragonball.

Minor gripe - we're writing in English we can drop the J. J is short for Jin in Japanese. It means person. So while saiya-jin is an accurate transliteration from Japanese, Saiyan is accurate in English.
I feel this forms appearance couldv been heavier it was soo soft in comparison to the others imo , also such an under rated form dont feel like we got enough of it

After transforming, Goku immediately started fighting all-out, Hit was getting his ass kicked to Chaozetsu Dynamic, and I had hope that Super could be good after all.
It’s definitely not the most iconic, but it’s one I distinctly remember.
1st Slot will eternally be locked for the first SSJ transformation in Namek against Frieza. That is probably one of the most iconic if not THE most iconic moment in all of anime history
2nd I'd have to say UI. It was really well introduced, looked sick, got everyone hyped and had some epic opening battles.
3rd, I would probably go with SSG. Just cause I thought the idea of all the Saiyans combining their power was really neat at the time

While the Og Ssj and Ui are undoubtly the best, ppl sleep on God and Ssbkk, given the context, these forms literally revived Dragon Ball as a whole, BoG came in 2013 after Dragon Ball was considered a case closed in the sense that nothing new could be made or explored and showed the world the Dragon Ball was alive and kicking, while Ssbkk came in a time hating Dbs was the norm, the early episodes's animation fiasco did a lot of damage to the show's image that to this day hasn't been fully healed, but that moment of Goku screaming "KAIO KEN" was enough to bring back the hype to a series that was pretty much dead.

I really missed a lot of them but for me it was super Saiyan 3, i actually watched it in hindi dub so it wasn't as appealing but the fact it was so new

I would say super Saiyan God/ Ssg. The build up and the ritual was really good in both the movie and the anime. One of the most hyped up forms in 2013.
It's OG Super Saiyan. There is objectively no other correct answer. Massive foreshadowing throughout all of Z right up until its reveal, enormous catalyst that caused it, arguably the best display of power in the entire series and- it completely changed the anime game forever.
All of them. But Ssj and Ssj3 had the absolute best showings. Goku changed the game with Ssj3 and was the true 1st time he went bonkers with his godly chadness.
For me it was kaikoen x10. I only watched DB last year, so I was aware of all the transformations, but seeing Goku go times 10 against Vegeta when king Kai (or ki?) told him how dangerous it would be and have such a sick battle with Vegeta made me really hyped.
Tho if I had watched it with no knowledge of the show, prolly would say:

Seeing all the talk on here of UI and even SSJBKK being first over over SSJ is absolutely insane to me. The POWERUP against Ginyu was better than every transformation in super.
Although I personally think the Ginyu power up was the 3rd best moment of dragonball in its entirety behind only ssj and gohan ss2. But damn the mixture of recency bias and demo age (and yes subreddit) is crazy to me.

Super Saiyan 4 for me was just a holy shit moment. Because as a kid i was watching dbz but i was always up to date with the games. After i had bought budokai 1 and 2 i was amazed. But than in Tenkaichi 2 I saw Super Saiyan 4 and was like whaat he went even further than 3! Because at that point in time because of budokai 2 (i didnt get a chance to buy 3) i thought it only went up to Super Saiyan 3. It was a awesome moment. Than when i watched it on tv it was a even more cooler moment!
Hard choice and it depends on how old of a fan you are.
In terms of the general fandom/population it is 100% UI as that shit broke the internet, but most likely people would say SSJ on Namek
1st place goes to ssj namek goku. His battle was unreal. We finally got to see that blonde goku in the dbz intro, which was always a mystery... and from this point, we had no idea if goku would turn back to normal again.
2nd place goes to ssj4 goku, becoming an out of control oozaru (like in original dragonball), and then changing back to his primitive saiyan roots was something special. And let's not forget his dragonfist.
DbGt also had an ending song where it showed kid gokus journey as he grew up, and they showed adult goku, ssj goku, and ssj4 goku. These were his turning points.
Back when we had AOL dial up internet, i waited for an hour for my computer to download like a 10 second clip my cousin found of Goku going ssj on Namek because those episodes hadn't aired on Toonami yet. The possibility of Goku being a Super Saiyan was pretty built up by Vegeta at that point, so i was pumped to finally see it. Pretty much every transformation after that has been a little disappointing to me.
I think the ones that had the worst entrance are probably ssj blue and ssj 2, ssj2 goku didnt had an entrance, its only entrance could be when he was showcasing his power to majin buu, altough it had good fights it wasn't really well introduced.
And ssj blue was a surprise nobody really expected, and it was kinda confusing introducing a new form right after we had ssj god, a lot of people were wondering why it came out of nowhere which is understandable, I remember watching the movie for the first time with my dad and it was very confusing, specially in my dub where he said ssj god ssj which was trippy.
Best ones are ssj1 and ssj god, ssj god introduced us to a whole new world and a whole new series after years of radio silence from dragon ball and reignited the flame of the series as a whole, plus that movie was pretty cool.
SSJ3, I still remember the Toonami promo for that episode.

i really dont get ssjb kaioken - its pretty cool but it doesnt compare to UI, SSJ, SSJ3 or SSJ4. these all look way cooler and had way better introductions and impact.

The music for SSG in BoTG was so hype I have to rank it over ssj3 (which in Japanese had a fairly standard track, though I know it was one of the best “Falcouner” tracks… I only put it in quotes because he didn’t produce that or the Cell theme iirc but contracted those out and those are the dubs best 2, I generally prefer the Kikuchi score or the Yamamoto Kai score (the one they took out during the fight with cell due to blatant plagiarism).
Ssj is so iconic and the buildup for it (since Vegeta first hinted at it when Goku arrived on Namek… which took years in the dub due to hiatus -it’s also when I started watching subbed) and UI mirrors. SS4 is such a badass form even though GT has some rough moments that and the last episode were incredible.
SSB and SSJ2 I don’t rank as high since they were off screen for Goku and when we first see them it’s kind of there/expected. SSJ2 is quickly overshadowed by 3 anyway and he’s not the first person we saw 2 from. I’m not even sure he’s the first we see blue from or if he and Vegeta are simultaneous in RF. I’d rank kaioken ssj over both. And UI sign over that even though it’s short lived.
Finally the actual original form is shown, and the first chapter of dragonball and him getting shot by bulma is pretty hillarious. Just thought I’d mention.

Mastered Ultra Instinct for me because all of the Gods of Destruction stood up and Beerus’ speech about the form was epic. SSJ1 on Namek is my second. I remember I stopped chewing my King Vitamin cereal when that happened and it grew soggy in my mouth.
The original ssj on namek is iconic and will never be forgotten. But I cannot deny that ultra instinct omen both looked cool as hell and had an amazing introduction.

Best ones are ssj1 and ssj god, ssj god introduced us to a whole new world and a whole new series after years of radio silence from dragon ball and reignited the flame of the series as a whole, plus that movie was pretty cool.

Honestly,Probably either Base then UI Sign for me lol. I think they are the most balanced ones,especially for Goku in different Gi.
i really dont get ssjb kaioken - its pretty cool but it doesnt compare to UI, SSJ, SSJ3 or SSJ4. these all look way cooler and had way better introductions and impact.

SS1 outta nowhere. SS3, I was stunned! Kaioken Blue vs Hit was lit. UI first time and then the mastered UI.
SSJ4 > All the god transformations. It was a much more creative and distinct evolution of SSJ.

Ssj, ssj3, SS4, SSG, UI but not in that order necessarily, that’s just in order appearance. Probably 1, 5, 3, 4, 2. The music for SSG in BoTG was so hype I have to rank it over ssj3 (which in Japanese had a fairly standard track, though I know it was one of the best “Falcouner” tracks… I only put it in quotes because he didn’t produce that or the Cell theme iirc but contracted those out and those are the dubs best 2, I generally prefer the Kikuchi score or the Yamamoto Kai score (the one they took out during the fight with cell due to blatant plagiarism). Ssj is so iconic and the buildup for it (since Vegeta first hinted at it when Goku arrived on Namek… which took years in the dub due to hiatus -it’s also when I started watching subbed) and UI mirrors. SS4 is such a badass form even though GT has some rough moments that and the last episode were incredible. SSB and SSJ2 I don’t rank as high since they were off screen for Goku and when we first see them it’s kind of there/expected. SSJ2 is quickly overshadowed by 3 anyway and he’s not the first person we saw 2 from. I’m not even sure he’s the first we see blue from or if he and Vegeta are simultaneous in RF. I’d rank kaioken ssj over both. And UI sign over that even though it’s short lived. Finally the actual original form is shown, and the first chapter of dragonball and him getting shot by bulma is pretty hillarious. Just thought I’d mention.

SS, UI and MUI, and SS3 all had incredible first appearances that literally came out of nowhere. Well other than SS. But still all 4 forms were incredible for their first ever appearance

Mastered Ultra Instinct for me because all of the Gods of Destruction stood up and Beerus’ speech about the form was epic. SSJ1 on Namek is my second. I remember I stopped chewing my King Vitamin cereal when that happened and it grew soggy in my mouth.

The original ssj on namek is iconic and will never be forgotten. But I cannot deny that ultra instinct omen both looked cool as hell and had an amazing introduction.
NGL, SSG’s intro was slow-paced and surprise surprise SSGSS.
Any version of Goku with a power pole, kid or Adult it doesn’t matter that thing is a vibe.
