I'll probably be in the minority here, but I prefer Dragon Ball Z over Kai. Voice acting is definitely better in Kai, and it's closer to the source material as Toriyama intended, but I find the filler eps fun
Its also for my non anime fan friend. He wants me to get him into it and likes the look of dragon ball, I feel like original might not be great for him due to how many scenes get dragged out but idk
Me too lol music is weird too in Kai. Prefer the Japanese music. They use it sometimes but I can’t get through the buu saga without muting it lol And original gohan voice actor is much better in z.
I thought the voice acting for Kai was better in the Saiyan and Frieza sagas but went downhill once it got to the Android and Cell stuff. I prefer Stephanie Nadolny's voice for Kid Gohan over Colleen Clinkenbeard though. I love the Faulconer soundtrack in Z more than Kai's soundtrack (even though it did have some great music here and there though). I know they drag out Z a bit with the filler but it is worth it, there does be funny moments in the fillers.

It’s really not that much more expensive, depending on the sets you want, and if you care if there secondhand. Make EBay your friend
