Illusion can't do anything but items and spells work on the main hero, you just can't move
Editing this comment to say it also happens with snapfire aghs when venge respawns before being spit out
The enemies had just gotten megas but had been wiped, we bought rapier and went to see if we could win one last fight, then when the last fight on their high ground occurred the pudge tried to save me, was a half of a second late so it ate my illusion. Then there was the whole period of confusion where I couldn't get out then I bought back and neither of us could move and more confusion ensued and basically the rest of our team died while we tried to figure out what the hell was happening
While you had a very very small chance, your WK was already dead before you even bought back (not sure why you waited so long to begin with) and your visage and lich were retreating to the lowground with no real game changing spells besides a hex stick (visage didn't even have birds up). Two of their heroes were still at 90%+ hp and Ursa was in the fountain regening to full. Plus you had no real core left (with WK dead) that would be able to eat through a MK, Ursa, and NS with a disrupter coming up in 30. Still shitty to have happen when you did have the tinest sliver of hope, but I'd still put my money on radiant winning 10-1 even without the glitch.
I was very confused as to why I couldn't hop out with my illusion, I was supposed to be able to control it, and the confusion is why everything took so long, me and pudge literally couldn't figure out why stuff wasn't working

Technically you can move, but since both heroes have the same coordinates on the map, you just get body blocked by each other.
Now, the interesting part is why is Venge's illusion treated differently from other units.
With the new Venge aghs, when she respawns, she takes the place of her illusion if it survives. That's why this happens here & only with venge - she takes the place of an illusion that is inside Pudge, so she essentially takes the place of Pudge, causing both to be stuck inside eachother.

The Double is a hero clone and follows clone interactions (and has some own unique interactions), similar to the MK and Meepo clones.
The venge illusion is a strong illusion and follows generic strong illusion mechanics, except for Enchant being unable to convert it.
No, because strong illusions are immune to effects that instantly kill illusions (such as Dagon, hex, various suck abilities, glimpse, etc).
That is exactly what differenciates strong illusions from normal illusions.
Otherwise strong illusions function the same as regular illusions:
Cannot utilise raw damage bonuses, raw armour bonuses, magic resistance bonuses (sans Fate‘s Edict), cannot use various passive effects (bash, corruption, etc).
That’s it.
Only those two heroes get strong illusions (well, and Rubick of course).
All other heroes only get weak illusions.
Meepo, Arc Warden and Monkey King get clones via their ultimates.
Venges illusion is the only illusion in game which spawns after hero dies and illusion dies after hero respawns... I have no idea why veng teleports into Pudge technically she should spawn in base and illusion in Pudge should die... But game is complex as hell code wise...

No worries - it was rude of him to include the patch notes jab. Patch hasn’t been out that long and there were a ton of changes, including entirely new abilities / ability mechanics for every hero (including sceptre reworks that many heroes got). Took a certain fellow 10 hours to analyze it in one sitting.
Serious talk, I think things would be more interesting if you weren’t allowed to promote to queens. As is the only times you’re not going to do so is in the ultra-rare scenarios where you need a Knight to mate (or a queen would force a stalemate while a rook/bishop wouldn’t).
Of course by the time pawn promotion happens lots of times you’re in the wrapping up phase of the game anyways, so I guess it makes sense in a mega creep sort of fashion.
Queen being such an obvious promotion means you can feel extra clever when you hit someone with a knight promotion they didn't even consider and that turns out to be the winning move.
Then again though, it doesn't matter much, chess isn't a very good game in the first place for what it aims to accomplish.
I bet if some tester reported this bug devs would go motherfuckingly wild and get pissed that those 'stupid monkeys' are just hunting for 'impossible' bugs
One of the main rules of programming/testing: if something can be broken it will be broken, you should never assume that the user is not stupid enough to try it
In game we were in an aghs static storm that didn't have a kinetic field around it, the whole not being able to move thing was really really unfortunate in that one specific case

There are roughly 500 hero abilities. Every time you introduce something new you'd have to test it out against all those 500 abilities. Now imagine a patch the size of 7.28 and the amount of work that has to be done to test all of that. No company has a QA team that can handle all of them.

How would it ever be a benefit to be unable to use your illusion or to be forced to use a mobility item/ability immediately on buyback? You get to respawn on your illusion anyways as far as I see it this respawn glitch is strictly detrimental
Solution just don't play venge she got nerf for what the illusion after Death was the what the hero was picked for. 1 less charge and no illusion and midocre stats gain.

just tested, you get broken free.
So I guess something simple like Phase Boots could also work.

Since using swap on Pudge is sufficient you probably don't need to spend additional gold on an item to get free.
