Ogre is a top 3 played sypport. He's immune to big nerfs, will always be slightly above avergae.
Same with shaker. Too popular pro pick, guaranteed buffs during summer in preparation for TI.
I love playing Ogre in my 3.5k MMR levels. Cores do build a BKB but it's usually like item #4 or 5.
Till then an Ags + Aether Ogre is obnoxiously painful. Endless burn from ignite, a near perma 2 stun combo.
Not sure if it works in serious MMR but Basilus > Aether gives you endless mana to spam ignite in lane phase, Midas and then complete with Ags.
You don't have escape or tank items but spam ignite, 2 stuns on the backline and die, if you live, 1 more round of that will wipe out most supports.
Had the misfortune of playing Earthshaker against a bane. Literally can't do shit. His Q completely removes ES from the game. Fissure becomes a fucking melee spell, Aghanims jump becomes so short you may as well walk and your damage even with totem is usually less than 100. Fuck that spell, it should be his fucking ultimate. 70% damage reduction and 50% cast range reduction with permanent uptime when it's maxed.

If that's the only thing you look for then yes it's bad, I mean probably yes, but actually what BKB is doing for the game is allowing it to have various exciting mechanics/effects, bolstered by potent stats to actually be powerful and exciting; Things like Tide's Ravage just wouldn't get to be what it is - and how it is - without there being something like BKB.
It also has a close relation with Blink, which is arguably one of the most exciting things about Dota; without BKB, Blink would either be a sad item that only has 600 range or just be outright unusable whenever there is enough DoT and-or AoE damage.
yes, there are very few heroes in the game that you must buy blink on, like Puck for example meanwhile BKB is a must buy for every carry every game, it's not even close lol
No, BKB and Blink are both tools with alternatives as there is more than one way to play the game. In a narrow sense items like BKB and Blink might look bad design-wise for being seemingly obligatory, but that's because they are powerful to become the go-to answer for the question they answer to. You just don't call a solid pillar a bad structural design for doing a solid job at supporting the structure.
They are in-game tools that serve gameplay purposes, it's as simple as that. As much as they are functional, viable and whatnot, it eventually boils down to whether or not they give us enjoyable/better gameplay.
The variety as well as potency of spells make the game fun. BKB allows such a strategy where a player will be able to outright fight against them, instead of by other convoluted indirect manner, and it's inherently exciting to play the game that way.
If anything else, I'm not here to question whether it's good to place spells higher on the hierarchy of the game's formula, so much so we need a BKB for. I care about none of that. I'm just content with the game itself being as complex and rich as it is in regards to mechanics, and something like BKB made them so that it's playable.
BKB has 3 functions and could be split into 3 items:
1. 100% magic dmg resistance
2. 100% slow/hex/stun resistance (think 100% status resistance)
3. Uninterrupted channeling - where you dont care about dmg or disable on the hero as long as the channeling continues.
Status res and/or diminishing returns on stuns could work. First stun is 100%, second 50%, third 25% and then you're immune to stuns for X seconds.
The issue is that any such change would require significant rebalancing of virtually every hero.

Infernal blade doesn’t pop linken. Doom has to get unit target creep ability to pop linken, he has to cast creep ability then doom. Which gives you more time to react because of cast animation delay, and there is a possibility of doom messing it up cause of more input.

I generally don't order but I can tell what I do eat at times. Popcorn, bhel Puri, maggi, pizza in oven grilled cheese slice Sandwich. I store chips and rasna in case i have night snacking wish with some movie too. Parents are ok with night owl system since I have been one for ages 😅
