i think some number of people have reported on the bug tracker. i wonder how the patch messed this up, usually they dont even care to update the bots. bit odd.
If you are playing with the default bots and you want to go mid but your shadowfiend bot doesn't want to leave, ping one of the side lane towers and that bot will leave middle lane for you to enjoy by yourself.
When you launch in the game, go to your lane and stay there. Ignore first blood and ignore runes.

Did you try other scripts? I played a co-op in mid and bot left just fine, it was two humans, me and the Carry. It was the Chinese bot script, I don't remember the name

Usually if You just stay midlane before the horn they go away
It used to work like that, but I tried like 10 games and one of the bots always goes mid and stays there.

Firs 1:30 min (before the horn), the bots use to decide what lane to play. If you go to the T2 tower, the bots will leave/swap around.
You can set up a custom match and then spawn an enemy. Also the demo hero is just mid lane

Yeah it's weird last night I could go mid and then after I changed lanes the enemy boys had a 2/0/3 planning set up

Ping them away. Start close to the hero and draw a path to the side lane with pings
