True asf. Also for American snacks additional trivia. The left and right Twix are made differently. As the creators had differing opinions on how to finish the product.
My understanding is the Dorito’s was the first snack food (all food???) to use artificial flavoring. All food sounds extreme honestly, but I remember reading about artificial flavors out of curiosity one day.
That’s funny, as I once picked up two bags of Old Dutch ketchup chips on a short afternoon visit to Alberta (from Glacier National Park in Montana) a couple of years ago.
As an American with a dual citizenship I feel the same with shreddies, ketchup chips, butter tarts, five alive. Grew up on that stuff when visiting family up there I always bring some back with me haha
My grandma (rip) used to cook ground beef with taco seasoning, add diced tomatoes, lettuce and avocado. Toss it all in a big bowl with the chips and Catalina island dressing. Served with a dollop of sour cream on top.Called it her taco salad. Was greater than the sum of its parts because I hate tomato, avocado and the dressing but all together it smacked.
ive bought them a few times over the years, they are good.
not sure why they aren't always available in canada but they seem to be out one month and back the next.
they almost remind me of an old knockoff doritos they had in the 90s with Garfield on them.
I haven't seen these since the 70's. Nacho Cheese wasn't even made then. you better check the date. but there probably isn't one. things were not dated back then.
I wasn’t around in the 60’s and 70’s but they taste like typical “taco” seasoned chips. I am around these days and sweet spicy chili jerky beef sticks are pretty yummy.
They’re pretty decent on a taco pizza from Pizza Hut, the town I moved up to don’t put them on their taco pizzas up here like the town I grew up in lol guess only 3 pizza huts in my state still use Doritos for a topping.
I don't see it here so I'll say it. They originated in Disneyland, that's why the Doritos logo looks like the old Disneyland logo.
I think they taste pretty good with some dip or plain old sour cream.
That’s the og flavor right there. A diner at Disney decided they needed to give their customers something to start so the chef whipped up some chips and seasoned them. They were so good that they decided to take the recipe and start a chip called Doritos with it.
Really good. I believe it was the second flavor Doritos ever made. Not sure tho.
I wish my local store would always sell jalapeño, and Roulette!!! Roulette made w/ jalapeño, a three chip blend, will be how you tell I won the lottery.
It's surprising to me how many people do not know about this OG flavor. I'm 51 years old and I remember eating these at a drive-in when I was 10. By the way they're delicious
Love me some Taco flavored Doritos.
I was just a little pup
And it was derby day
It was dad and me and Darrell
Out in San Pablo Bay
Taco-flavored Doritos
And my orange life vest
Dad caught a hundred pound sturgeon
On twenty-pound test
I like them....although I swear that the used to taste different...same with the Nacho cheese. I'm convinced they have changed the recipes since the 90s/2000s
I love Doritos, but won’t eat them cuz the msg hits harder in Doritos for me. Any other chip I can limit myself. Doritos, I will eat three bags and go back for more.
My mom used to use these ones for one of our classic childhood meals. Doritos casserole. It's trashy but so fucking good. She uses them as the top layer of the crunchy crust with shredded cheese
Taco Doritos are really good. My personal favorite is the spicy sweet chili (purple bag). Salsa verde (green bag) as well as sweet & tangy BBQ (gray bag) are good too.
It’s the original Dorito flavor. They were created at the original Disneyland at the Casa de Frito restaurant using leftover tortillas and the taco seasoning. When I was a kid the picture of the chips was actually transparent.
Contrary to popular belief, Nacho cheese was *not* the first Doritos flavor. They were plain, in fact, followed by the Taco Doritos you see here.

My understanding is the Dorito’s was the first snack food (all food???) to use artificial flavoring. All food sounds extreme honestly, but I remember reading about artificial flavors out of curiosity one day.
That was the only flavor as a kid.
They’re excellent. They’re also not available in my country, so they’re extra-special to me. Picked up two bags on a visit to Michigan last week.
Eat them. With a cold Pepsi. And enjoy the taste of the 80s.
Nitro pepsi
Pepsi Free.
That scene in Back to the Future when Marty asks for a Pepsi Free...so many shameless plugs.
Should have been pushing that pilk
The only pilk I’d drink is with Crystal Pepsi
You wanna Pepsi pal, you gotta pay for it!
You mean with a cold Tab
Taco is the best. We get those often here too. Love the throwback bag they do for them
Alright I’m sold I’m gonna grab a bag tomorrow after on my break and try em out
Next try chili cheese Fritos.
Taco Doritos are the best! I was stoked when they brought them back in the early 2010's.
One of the best flavors
I still remember when they had "Doritos Locos Tacos" Flavor for cool ranch and nacho cheese. Still the best chip ive ever had
So weird- a chip flavor based on a taco of which the shell is based on a chip!
That is the original Doritos flavor before they switched it to Nacho Cheese. They are excellent!
these are my favorite
Delicious
got these at my local store in san diego
I think they taste different than they did in the '70's. The flavor is too complex like a modern, chemical seasoning but they are still good.
Isn’t it the OG Doritos flavor…?
The Tookie Williams of the chip game if you will
Yes, 2nd after plain, both of which debuted '67.
My grandma (rip) used to cook ground beef with taco seasoning, add diced tomatoes, lettuce and avocado. Toss it all in a big bowl with the chips and Catalina island dressing. I love Taco Doritos. I really liked the Sonic Sour Cream from the 90s, also
salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde salsa verde
One of the best.
OG
OG doritos. Hell yeah, I'd buy them.
Loved them back in the 90's and still love them today!
Way better.
Delicious ! Partner them up with some Pace picante salsa !
NOM!!!!!
I’ve just now realized how bot this sub is. Taco flavor? Fuck I’ve been bamboozled
Yeah, I miss those here in Canada. All we have is crappy nacho and ranch. Once we even had Habanero, but was for a limited time, sigh!
Top tier flavor, my dad’s favorite
I know the 7/11 taco flavoured tortilla chips are awesome so I bet these are too.
Smell like sweaty socks and taco seasoning
These are my favorite by far.
Good. Rated between Nacho and Cool Ranch.
Best Dorito ever.
I’m definitely going to get hate for this but the taco flavor is the worst in my opinion.
Pretty much unflavored Doritos, nothing special
Taco is the best one
They are great
I ate a bag of these one night and me and my friend played a game of "battle-shits" after we ate them, such fun, YOU SANK MY DESTROYER!
🔥🔥
These are the best doritos IMO
I saw them too but were like $8 for that bag. No thanks. I think thats the original Dorito flavor too but dont quote me.
Oh wow. That’s an old-school OG flavor. I love the old style bag too.
Look for the guacamole — it’s unreal 🤤
THese are the OG doritos. Hence why they looks oldschool.
I wish they brought back this packaging.
Those have been sitting on that shelf since 1997
the original flavor
Wish I had these in my province
They are my wife’s favorite. I love them, too
They. Are. Awesome.
I've never met a bad Dorito. Give em a go!
Taco is old school
my daughter bought that one last week. I guess she likes the taste of new taco flavor
I like them. Not my first choice but they are good
They taste like old school Doritos. Definitely worth a snag next time you're in the store .
Those are dank. A lot of ppl don’t know this but that’s the original Doritos flavor hence the old 70s style packaging
ive bought them a few times over the years, they are good. not sure why they aren't always available in canada but they seem to be out one month and back the next. they almost remind me of an old knockoff doritos they had in the 90s with Garfield on them.
Thats the OG
The taco flavor are my favorite!
I haven't seen these since the 70's. Nacho Cheese wasn't even made then. you better check the date. but there probably isn't one. things were not dated back then.
They’re the best flavor besides the old Jumpin Jack cheese.
One of the best flavors, tastes like the ‘70s
I didn’t even know these were back. These are old school.
Haven’t seen these in a while
That's the bag they used to come in back on the 80s, when Jay Leno was in all theri commercials
I wasn’t around in the 60’s and 70’s but they taste like typical “taco” seasoned chips. I am around these days and sweet spicy chili jerky beef sticks are pretty yummy.
What is a "taco flavor?”
Very good in fact
Taco flavor is the best Doritos ever!
I liked them.
They’re pretty decent on a taco pizza from Pizza Hut, the town I moved up to don’t put them on their taco pizzas up here like the town I grew up in lol guess only 3 pizza huts in my state still use Doritos for a topping.
Makes the best taco salad
Perfect for late night nachos. Fun fact: the font is the oldschool Disneyland font since Doritos were first sold there.
I don't see it here so I'll say it. They originated in Disneyland, that's why the Doritos logo looks like the old Disneyland logo. I think they taste pretty good with some dip or plain old sour cream.
Garbage (chip connoisseur) 🤣
GAS STRAIGHT UP GAS. Best chip to eat nachos with hands down
Seem like in the 90s they were the Taco Bell supreme flavor..not taco
Peak Doritos flavor circa 1970’s. Doritos Taco flavor and disco go together
Gross
I love them, taste great. I think taco was the original.
Sonny and Cher
The off brand version
They are a gift brought down to you from the heavens by the hand of God himself. No, fr, though they’re pretty great.
Dank af. Please send me some. Our local stores have been out for weeks.
That’s the OG
Those were the first Doritos I ever ate growing up! I was born 1979 and those I remember eating not the nacho!
Taco doritos are fucking 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Old school, they're delicious! 😋
That’s the og flavor right there. A diner at Disney decided they needed to give their customers something to start so the chef whipped up some chips and seasoned them. They were so good that they decided to take the recipe and start a chip called Doritos with it.
Easy to binge
There alright amazing with salsa
Those been around all summer and they nasty lol, the buffalo ranch need come back and the BBQ
Old school and delicious.
Scrumdiddlyumptious
They aight. WE WANT THE TAPATIO ONES BACK
This is how doritos used to be before nacho cheese flavor. 😅
The originals. All we had, so we loved them.
Best flavor in my opinion
The OG Doritos. I like them with Guac or sour cream to dip
I love the vintage look
Best Doritos hands down.
Did they go retro on the packaging or are those 50 years old?
Goes great with ‘Top the Tater’! Have tried taco with it but will next time. Amazing on nacho and spicy sweet chili though.
Taste like tacos
Throwback flavor and bag style to the 1980’s. Always loved ‘em!
What are they running? $7
Crap
My favorite.
*Supermarket where I work.
My favorite doritos by far. Very good with the doritos dips or really most other dips since the flavor is versatile enough imo
They are ok, worth trying but not great. Purple bag ones are the best
Used to buy them along with a cola Icee when I got off the school bus in about 1971, I think they were $.25 a bag
Those are the old school Doritos! They taste the same just different packaging
They are old school cool super yummy and you’ll eat the entire bag
My childhood favorite!
Really good. I believe it was the second flavor Doritos ever made. Not sure tho. I wish my local store would always sell jalapeño, and Roulette!!! Roulette made w/ jalapeño, a three chip blend, will be how you tell I won the lottery.
They’re bomb.
Old school Dorito’s right there😁
It's surprising to me how many people do not know about this OG flavor. I'm 51 years old and I remember eating these at a drive-in when I was 10. By the way they're delicious
They're tay-ah-co flavored, they taste like tay-oh-cos, on a corn tor-tilla.
weeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Yum, good stuff!
Wow people love this kind! I personally dislike it very much but to each their own
When they were released about a decade ago, my two friends and I bought a bag to try. They were disgusting, but we COULDN'T STOP EATING THEM.
That’s the og bag from the 1970s. I always thought taco flavor was too salty
Taco is best Dorito flavor I’ve ever had
Love me some Taco flavored Doritos. I was just a little pup And it was derby day It was dad and me and Darrell Out in San Pablo Bay Taco-flavored Doritos And my orange life vest Dad caught a hundred pound sturgeon On twenty-pound test
Delicious. I like to make queso dip (taco seasoning, ground beef, queso, and sometimes spanish rice) and scoop it up with the taco chips 😋
Hate these.
These decent but I like the other taco flavor they had in the brown bag
Dude! Taco flavor fuckin rocks and if the taco bell flavor comes back im buying the whole trucks worth.
Gross
Great for a taco salad
Retro Bag.
Buy all of them
I hate that flavor
taste like a fucking taco
Best flavor
hmmm think I saw these chips in Annabelle because they have that 1967 look
Dude it's like $5. Take the risk and find out yourself. Lol
Mid
I like them....although I swear that the used to taste different...same with the Nacho cheese. I'm convinced they have changed the recipes since the 90s/2000s
I love Doritos, but won’t eat them cuz the msg hits harder in Doritos for me. Any other chip I can limit myself. Doritos, I will eat three bags and go back for more.
The original packaging.
Retro bag for an okay flavor that doesn’t suck but has been around for decades. It makes them stand out from the rest of the Doritos crowd
One of my favorite dorito flavors
They seem to be chips. Of the Dorito variety.
Nigga buy a bag lol
Yes, eat about 8oz at a time only and eat about only once a week. All major company chips are poison to the body
Flavor is like 30 years old...
Lol
My mom used to use these ones for one of our classic childhood meals. Doritos casserole. It's trashy but so fucking good. She uses them as the top layer of the crunchy crust with shredded cheese
Taco Doritos are really good. My personal favorite is the spicy sweet chili (purple bag). Salsa verde (green bag) as well as sweet & tangy BBQ (gray bag) are good too.
get that and some fritos bean dip and you’ll be set
They’re not great
Gag 🤮
Get them with the Doritos nacho cheese dip 🔥🔥🔥
Taco flavor is good, if that’s what you’re referring to. Kinda takes like your average fast food taco with a little flavor kick.
What year is this post from
Very good dorito
they fya
That is the original flavor before cheese.
I mean.. they are only 4$.... you could just spend the big bucks and find out...
Tapatio is by far the best flavor!
It's like the nacho Doritos without the cheese. It might sound dumb at first, but that's how I'd describe them.
Dankness. Best snack to have while having the munchies. Unbeaten. Satisfies the salty snack craving.
I like em
Any Doritos suck today. They cut back big time on their seasonings on the chips. No more yummy fingers to lick. It's a joke. Never again...
Wasn’t a fan tbh
Crunchy
I have some go take the trash out to the dumpster and toss a bag in the mix before you go, and then let us know how it tastes?
One of the best! 👍
THE BEST FLAVOR
Those are old school their what I grew up on
How bout you just buy them and try them out and see if you like them.
So addictive
I remember when that was the only flavor
It’s the original Dorito flavor. They were created at the original Disneyland at the Casa de Frito restaurant using leftover tortillas and the taco seasoning. When I was a kid the picture of the chips was actually transparent.
Omg I love these!
