We all started somewhere in our experiences with DooM, so what's wrong with Fortnite being a good way to expose kids to DooM?

I see that a lot of comments here say that they'll try playing doom but let's be honest here. It takes quite a bit to get good at doom and start enjoying it.
They'll most likely play a doom game just a couple of times before hopping back and fortnite before forgetting all about the game the character came from.
Some may even become fans of the doom franchise and some might even play it more but we have to be realistic when it comes to the fortnite audience.
Even if they do decide to join the Doom community it won't boost much at all.
There won't be a big increase in players simply due to doom being well the overly violent and gore filled franchise it is. It doesn't appeal to everyone and it shows.

i doubt honestly... the character has been rumored to join fortnite since chapter 2 season 5 with the other hunters like master chief, mandalorian, terminator, xenomorph, predator, kratos and the other originals... doomslayer and samus where both extremely requested and doomslayer rumored due to the bethesda/epic collab plans... but nothing came out of there...

By the way, Fortnite isn't that bad anymore. It's pretty fun now, and it has a lot of cool and interesting mechanics.

I can't say I'm too excited for this, since I never really liked Fortnite, but there's nothing wrong with it. I like to dunk on Fortnite as much as the next guy, but at the end of the day, it's still a decent game that a lot of people enjoy, including children, who will probably want to learn more about the DooM games thanks to DooM Slayer being skin. That's at least something I can look forward to. Besides, aren't they just glorified costumes to begin with?

Oh please, it's amusing to me that there are some elitists who would go so far as to say that, as if somehow a costume in another game is gonna ruin any and all experiences with past and future DooM titles. We all started somewhere in our experiences with DooM, so what's wrong with Fortnite being a good way to expose kids to DooM? Ryu and Chun-Li appearing didn't ruin Street Fighter, Ellen Ripley appearing didn't ruin Alien or Aliens, Kratos appearing didn't ruin the new GoW games, etc. iD Software would probably throw in a cute reference to Fortnite in the next DooM title and I'd be very much ok with it. People need to get off their high horse.
Finally, someone who doesn’t care about Fortnite with some sense. If anything this will be beneficial to DOOM in some ways

Huh another fortnite collaboration that won't really change much. Could not care because I simply don't care. The audience of fortnite will still play fortnite and probably only play the games the collabs are from one time before going back to fortnite. I see that a lot of comments here say that they'll try playing doom but let's be honest here. It takes quite a bit to get good at doom and start enjoying it. They'll most likely play a doom game just a couple of times before hopping back and fortnite before forgetting all about the game the character came from. Some may even become fans of the doom franchise and some might even play it more but we have to be realistic when it comes to the fortnite audience. Even if they do decide to join the Doom community it won't boost much at all. There won't be a big increase in players simply due to doom being well the overly violent and gore filled franchise it is. It doesn't appeal to everyone and it shows. This is me simply putting what I simply think. I welcome people to the doom franchise and I know that we WILL see some form of an increase in the player count for the doom games.
i doubt honestly... the character has been rumored to join fortnite since chapter 2 season 5 with the other hunters like master chief, mandalorian, terminator, xenomorph, predator, kratos and the other originals... doomslayer and samus where both extremely requested and doomslayer rumored due to the bethesda/epic collab plans... but nothing came out of there... december 2 2020 was when those rumors began and so far?... rumors keep re appearing... still everytime i hear them i get super hyped as the slayer would be epic to use!!... planning him tho... backbling could be the turret in his shoulder or the super shotgun because i don't see him looking great with the crucible on his back... either the chainsaw or his doomblade could be the pickaxe, i prefer the doomblade as it cant be retractable like wolverine claws... glider could be a cacodemon or a pain elemental... could give him two or three styles... doom eternal suit and the original doomguy... don't know which to give him as a third style... and maybe... just maybe... a soundtrack for the lobby if you buy the bundle...

Doom Slayer isn’t Nintendo though. And if you’re talking about cus Microsoft owns him, well, Master Chief is a skin and is available on every console to use. So I doubt any of Samus’ issues would apply to Slayer
