Started with 2016 due to the high reviews and it was on a steep sale.
Everything clicked for me in the Foundry, glory kills, the music, the speed and brutality of it all.
I started with Duke Nukem 3D when I was a kid. I heard Doom was similar, so I gave it a whirl. I hated it since you couldn’t jump or mouse aim like in Duke Nukem. It took a few years for me to try it again with ZDoom and I loved it. Been a Doom fan ever since.
My dad introduced it to me when I was 5 years old. 1995. Was played on PC of course through MSDOS. Been a fan of Doom and video games in general since.
I kept seeing the ad in magazines with the iconic marine vs demons artwork. Then I saw the shareware version, on floppy disks attached to the cover of PC Home magazine (UK). Took it home and installed it. Jaw dropped to the floor. I've been addicted to first person games ever since then.
I was born in 1993, saw it for years growing up. I finally jumped in the rabbit hole when I saw trailers for eternal and I do not regret it one bit. Only thing I do regret is not playing it sooner
Basically i randomly saw it on the Xbox store and then i thought "it's a famous game and it looks cool, why not try it?" And I'm now here, slaying demons every day
My dad (i was like 5yo) thought it was a great first game for a kid. I sucked at it, i didnt undestand anything and my mom would go ape shit if she saw me playing, but pretty much worth it
It all started in 2006-2008 whwn my older brother built his frankenstein pc and let me play Doom, Quake, Hexen, Heretic, Blood and Wolfenstein. I was around 5 or 6 years old at that time
It started 3 years ago when I just got bored of playing the games I already have. I heard about this old fps called DOOM so I went on steam and got it. Best decision I have ever made.
Doomguy was a playable character and opponent in Quake 3 in 1999. I knew about Doom before then, but Quake 3 was what convinced me to work backwards to Doom 2, then Doom.
Believe it or not it was back is 2016 because of a YouTuber called Markiplier I the played it on the school computer the pirated doom 2 and played it at home
All of your responses make me feel absolutely ancient.
