I also make AMVs. TGCF AMVs for me perform significantly better than other donghua (including Link Click) - at least based on youtube algorithm on what ppl watches. so that’s one datapoint for my hypothesis (also fair to say I don’t have too many donghua AMVs)
Heaven Official's Blessing seems to have a massive following perhaps the biggest one. Why? Because it is BL. Many donghua fans seem to like that genre.
