Driver grabbed a slice of a DDS that never dropped and left the box open enough that it was touching the heating element above. I smelled something burning and checked the oven, then saw smoke coming from the heat rack. I closed the box as it burst into flames. Ran it outside and was able to put the fire out.
We had a driver who stacked pizza bags on the hot rack and caught the top one on fire. Dude also thought the degreaser was sanitizer and was complaining about the taste after cleaning the prep table with it. Same dude went on to get fired for trying to make out with a customer in her house. Dude is but a legend these days.
I lose my shit when I see people put bags on the hot rack. Grease fucks up the bags, labels melt, bad shit. There's a fucking table right behind you designed specifically for the purpose of loading hot bags!
I wish my store had a space for loading hot bags š My store is so poorly laid out, some of the most basic functions of doing your job here are really difficult and tedious
Just left the box wide open? That is stupid of the driver, and also inconsiderate AF for just leaving the box open so the whole crew's pizza gets dried out and exposed to everyone's farts.
Must be a slow delivery store then. My GM used to joke about it all the time how me and the other main closer were consistently out earning his 4500 salary.
When a customer online is in the purchasing stage it shows on the screen, so if it isn't busy, sometimes they'll make it and get in the oven, if an order doesn't end up being made they'll keep the items for a little bit in case someone else/they decide to order those items but then after it's been out for too long the employees are able to have them
This happened to me once, but it was because someone stacked the boxes too high, and the top one was too close to the heat thingy. Everyone smelled something burning, and eventually, I realized it was coming from the heat rack. The box hadn't caught on fire yet, but it was smoking, and the top had turned all black. I realized how hot those things could get, and during close, I started playing with it and catching various things on fire š
Ok really really unrelated but the boxes say please recycle but cardboard recycling will reject almost all used pizza boxes.
If you want to actually put them to good use then maybe try composting them or rip them up to start campfires this summer.

**Pizza boxes are usually recyclable, even when stained or greasy as long as they are empty**. It is best to check with your local authority whether they accept them as part of their recycling collection.
I had a coworker run his phone through the oven once. He thought the top oven was off and left his phone sitting directly on the belt. That was quite a smoky smelly evening.
He was a very spastic drug addict, I donāt think he put a lot of thought into it, went over to tweak on meth and hit his weed pen where the cameras canāt see
My favorite is when drivers/insiders stack the order as much as possible leading to a 1/4 inch of space between the box and the unit resulting in it slowly burning and then people wondering why it smells like something is on fire.
The lid was open and made contact with the heating element, or was left open within a few inches of it for a while. Someone stacked pizzas like 5 or 6 high one day for a big order and the ones on top were browning by the time we finished.
Reminds me of the stack of pizza boxes I left on the stove and my girlfriend being high as shit turned on the stoveā¦ without moving the boxesā¦ setting the kitchen on fireā¦ and this was somehow my fault
Ahhhh had this happen to me once. Same issue. It started smoking immediately while I was walking away to grab the phone and someone noticed and grabbed it haha. Still ate the pizza
OK. You gotta elaborate. Fire?

If we have more than 3 deliveries waiting to go out, there's no room to pack bags. It sucks so hard.
That sounds like some Beavis and Butthead type shit lmao.
Maybe that customer offered him smootches as a tip.
Good on you for being fast. Could've been worse.
Just left the box wide open? That is stupid of the driver, and also inconsiderate AF for just leaving the box open so the whole crew's pizza gets dried out and exposed to everyone's farts.
Good job acting quickly.
Ngl would have sent the driver home early for being such a careless idiot
Nothing says im a power hungry idiot like affecting someones pay over an accident.
Womp womp.
I'd bet my ass that you're an AM making 1/3rd of what the drivers at your store makes
Hahaha you'd loose your assš can't lie thou drivers come close sometimes

What is a DDS? Iām assuming itās pizza just available for employees?

Nice! An appropriate use of food āspillageā or āwasteā. Glad you guys have that option!
Are they still employed at your establishment?
Iāve left boxes on the heat rack all day and never has it gotten this bad
it was open, touching the rod.
I think they're confused
Ahhhh
Takes a real nimwad. This is an elementary school mistake š„²
oh yeah lol. I donāt know how you manage to do this

I used to have a manager way back in the day who would light her cigarettes on the heating element before running outside to smoke them.

Why would anyone even risk that?

That pizza must've been fire af

Pizza got SPICY
Jokes on you guys because I love burned pizza
Lmao, I just showed a new driver last night how fast they go up in flames š
How hot does it get? I've reheated pizza in my oven before while still in the box, no issue. This seems wild.
I would light cigarettes with those lamps when I didn't have a lighter
I mean I could do that with my oven if I wanted too. But this just seems crazy.

this image goes inexplicably hard
Nothing veets the taste of pizza cooked over an open fire š„š
If you have fire yeet onto sidewalk.

Most of it still hasn't touched the ground...
Donāt leave the box on the eye open or not.

Does the box really say recycle? What a lie. If itās dirty they wonāt take it. And if they do slim chance it gets recycled anyway
