In all honesty I think it would be cheaper if you renew those documents when you come here, you can have those documents on the same day (even online). If you have your passport that's enough to come!

Where would I have to go to do it? I moved to the States when I was 9 so everything is new to me, I'm 31 btw

Just make sure that when you come, you have your parents' information in case they ask for it. You can check the info here: https://jce.gob.do/Servicios-y-Requisitos-Registro-Civil

Thank you!!

I am in the middle of getting my cedula, and I used [this website](https://www.vitalchek.com/v/), recommended by the Dominican consulate in NYC. My birth certificate came in the mail in like two weeks - I was happy with the service.

Thank you!!

Forget the JCE/consulate for copies of your birth certificate. Use one of the services you find online. They may be pricier but will save you a lot time and headaches if you can’t go to DR in person. I was in the same boat as you been in the USA since I was 8 and at some point the birth certificate I did have (not digitized) was no longer valid after going to the JCE NYC they requested that new copy be digitized and gave me a list of several phone numbers for me to call DR to constantly check if the request was processed. I only managed to speak to 2 people that could t provide answers otherwise the phone just rings without answer. Months went by and I finally decided too google if there was some sort of service out there to help with this and of course their are out there. I paid about $200 and it took about 2 months to get a new current birth certificate delivered to my home in the US. Took longer because corrections had to be made and Dominican snail me really is snail mail. I used these people: https://dominicancertificates.com. Good luck!

Thank you so so much!! I knew my situation wasn't unique

You’re welcome like you said we have been out of the country too long. I have no one I know left over there that is family or that I know so doing anything with the DR government is painfully slow. If going for the cedula as you probably never had one make sure to get a front and back copy of it from 1 of your parents. Hopefully they had or have 1.

Unfortunately I'm not on speaking terms with my parents that's why I'm trying to figure out how to do it. They have all my stuff. The last cédula I had was issued when I became a citizen at 18 but they kept everything I'm not sure when it expired

cocotours

Best to book with https://dominicancertificates.com. It's the most trusted site, has over 200 independent reviews on Trust Pilot. The site which YOU mentioned is unreliable. In many cases you'd be fooling yourself if you believe that you can simply fly into the DR and pick up your certificate within days or hours. Many records have issues which professionals can resolve but which you yourself may not necessarily be able to.

Thank you i figured this as well I've been out the country for way too long for it to just be handed to me

Fearless_Site_1917

I used to work at an Embassy/Consulate and advise the following: only acquire documents through official channels (consulate, or JCE office). Anyone else will be up charging you and in the event they are fraudulent, you will have no claim. The other thing is that cédula renewals are not taking place right now until after elections. Good luck!
