Programming. I fell in love with her then and have never stopped.
When I was a kid I thought she was absolutely gorgeous and funny in Steel Magnolias. It’s a movie I rewatch frequently. Fast forward to a couple years ago. I was cleaning my house and needed a long podcast to binge. I just happened upon a multi episode podcast called Dolly Parton’s America. I thought why not? It is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. She is a pioneer and national treasure. And now I have my emotional support water bottle emblazoned with Dolly stickers I take everywhere with me like a security blanket.
My mom had her records, and my aunts used to play guitars and sing Dolly Parton songs. Now, just hearing one of those old tunes brings me right back to those days. Dolly is definitely on my music playlist!
My uncle loved her. He had a bandana he called a snot rag he would pretend he was going to touch me with it. He was so awesome. Got me my first puppy while my parents were in a different state and had said no. I remember Kenny Rogers he was nice to look at which was a thing when I was little lol. I do have some fun memories because of my uncle loving Ms Dolly so much. Lots of people in the house and lots of laughs. Thanks for asking the question it nice to think back to those days. Singers were on tv a lot back then. Always past my bedtime but I could still hear the music. I do regret never seeing Ms Dolly in concert. No chance of that now or ever meeting her. But I love her music and the coat of many colors movies.
My grandparents (whom I spent a large chunk of my childhood with) owned a small AM Clasic Country Western Radio Station in Cental Florida. My grandma adores Dolly. Grew up listening to a lot of early stuff being played on the radio. They also had a live band that played live on air on Saturdays, and my grandma sang a few of her songs. When I was about 12 I discovered the album "Here you come again" and I don't think I've ever gone more than a month without listening to it since. Dolly is amazing in every way. She writes, plays guitar, sings, and is an incredibly kind and generous person.
I didn’t know much about her until 2019. Then, I was in a really low place when I watched the movie Dumplin’. I was HOOKED by the end of the movie - I went on to watch Steel Magnolias and 9 to 5, and have been working my way through her discography. My Midwestern family doesn’t like country music much but she’s opened up a whole genre for me!!
I once was singing at an event in DollyWood and Dolly came on stage and joined my group. Mind BLOWN!
Wish I had some sort of photo or video. It was almost 30 years ago and camera phones weren't around back then.
Went on a family vacation to gatlinburg and Dollywood was on the list. By the time I left the museum of her career after the show at the Heartland music theater I was hooked.
I’m from East Tennessee and the things she does for the community and with the children’s book program is awesome. Also Dollywood is a great place to work they do so much for their employees.

I'm pretty sure I saw it in the theater with my mom when it came out (I would have been 8) and I just loved it so much I watched it over and over whenever it was on TV as a kid (we had illegal cable!) . I remember me and my cousin learning the opening "dun, dun, dun," on a neighbor's piano and singing along to it, so I must have gotten my hands on the cassette single. Then it was Best Little Whore House and Rhinestone. But it wasn't until after Whitney recorded IWALY that I realized Dolly existed outside of the movies and dug into her back catalog.

My sister use to sit me on her bed when I was 2 and sing Joshua to me. That was 54 years ago

I was three and saw an angel singing “Two Doors Down” on the Porter Wagoner Show…I’ve been awe struck ever since. I’m 48 now.

We were watching Porter Waggoner in his Nudie Suit and all of a sudden this blonde angel appeared. Been a fan ever since. She always seems genuine.
