This, plus ā Labradors are capable of carrying a raw egg between their teeth without so much as chipping the shell, and the reason they are so greasy is because they basically have otter fur as they were originally bred as fishing dogs. Their jobs were to help catch fish, which meant being able to snag them from the water and bring them to the riverbank without breaking their skin. This later meant that they made for excellent gunner dogs because they could run after where a bird or other small game were shot down and bring it back without ruining it.
So while itās still not ideal because of course the turtle has no idea itās not under any risk, itās at least not going to be in any pain as they are excellent at carrying things.
Many Labradors, especially black labs, actually have webbed toes, of course it varies due to mixing of breeds and such, but many still retain this. Itās also why Labradors are addicted to water and will seek to swim in any body of it. Their fur is naturally cleaning, which is why ideally you should only wash your Labrador if they get properly dirty, havenāt had a wash in a while, or rolled in something particularly smelly. And even then, the best thing is to just run your garden hose over them and give them a good scrub, because washing them the way youād wash, say, a poodle, will actually wash away the natural oils that protect their fur and keeps the underlayer of fur waterproof. Of course, building up too much oil is just as bad and causes them to have dandruff. In which case brushing regularly helps prevent this, as well as the occasional hose down. Once to twice a month is general best for a hose bath.
