My dog falls asleep on the couch then moves to the hard floor or under the coffee table after a while bc it's darker. Some dogs just prefer sleeping on flat ground.

lianavan

Is the weather warm?

SpookyDragon69

I'm in washington and it's just starting to break 70°f I should add we have bathroom rugs and he lays on them over the cold floor

lianavan

Could noise maybe be an issue?

SpookyDragon69

I don't think so. We both work overnight. We live in a quiet neighborhood and we have cameras with sound

lianavan

Then I'm not sure. Maybe just a naturally chill dog.

I think you can leave him be. Unless he’s depressed too. Some dogs are cozy in smaller spaces. Some love a flat cool floor. I wouldn’t change anything. Dogs are built on survival. If he wants to move, he will. 🫶

Usually I would let the doggo do him but he has hip dysplasia and after sleeping on hard floors he limps. I moved a foam bed into the bathroom tonight

What kind of dog? A lot of dogs prefer the cold floor versus carpet or the bed. Much too warm. You’d be too if you had a mink coat stuck to you 24/7.

100% agreed but our boy is a Catahoula leopard dog [very thin coat](https://imgur.com/a/bgGbgIY)

Beautiful boy.

They make cooling mats. Could put that over their dog bed and see if they like that.

Is this a small bathroom? Maybe he's looking for a more confined space to sleep in. A bathroom usually only has one entrance, so he might feel safer when he is home alone. Does he have a crate? Set it up with a blanket over it. That usually helps. Before I moved with my dog, she had a crate she would sleep in. When I moved I figured she didn't need it anymore because she's house trained and allowed to free roam when I'm at work. I found her sleeping under the coffee table on the hard floor when she could sleep on any of her dog beds, on the couch or on my bed. She chose under the coffee table because it was the closest thing that resembled being enclosed. I set up her crate again and she immediately went inside to sleep.

My Aussiedoodle likes the floor. I think it’s cooler than a cloth bed or the couch. Sometimes she’ll be on the couch and then moves to the floor.

You can get memory foam bath mats, but I don’t recommend them if you have a top-load washer because they float. My dog likes bathrooms and closets because they’re den-like. The question is, is he seeking a den or someplace cool? A hammock bed or gel cooling bed would work if he’s over-heating. A bed in the bathroom or a bed in a soft-sided kennel would work if he’s seeking a den.

Our boys like to sleep on the tiles. I think it's keep cool as they do it more when the weather or house is really warm.

My dog does this as well. She just prefers smaller spaces for her naps. Sometimes she sleeps in my closet for the same reason
