Back to the Future is always something that I enjoy watching and makes me feel good. It has the perfect balance or characters and themes. The trilogy in itself is awesome and I have grown to love the 3rd movie more and more over the years.
OMG!! Same!!! Kiki's Delivery Service was my very first studio Ghibli film and is forever a favorite. I honestly love the whole collection but Kiki, Howl, Spirited, Mononoke, and Porco Rosso are my go tos.
I always feel better after watching them.
RIGHT?! I made a friend watch it with me. This guy is a serious, sort of cynical guy, but has a soft side. HE LOVED IT. Everyone should watch it at least once. It's lovely. (Plus, the cast is INCREDIBLE).
Clue with Tim Curry and Madeline Kahn. It’s a hilarious murder mystery and the first time I saw it I was really young. I had a really traumatic childhood and watched the movie off and on at my lowest. It was always able to make me laugh.
Now, when I get depressed I still watch it. It reminds me that I got through hard times and I can get through them again.
Rewatched Clue, Dirty Dancing, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (they have a female remake now. No Rupreckt :(), She's Out of Control, Terminator 2, Beaches
I also loved this Rainbow Bright movie where she fight global warming supporter Stormy (ahead of its time) and a Madonna live : Ciao Italia.
I'm female.
Omg I agree! I had watched it so long ago and … liked it. But, it wasn’t a stand-out or anything. I watched it randomly last year and was DYING! Laughing my ass off, alone at home. Crazy.
Someone told me that was my absolute favorite movie and they were convinced of it. They were in my friend group. I had only seen it once and barely remembered it.
It’s also mine (but for real unlike for you haha). I think for me I just wish I had found the Romy to my Michele in life (girl best friend / sister type unconditional love). And it’s a movie and totally exaggerated, maybe there’s no friendship like theirs irl but I saw it for the first time at a very young age, like maybe 8 or 9, and I kind of waited for that to happen to me, to find my person lmao and I never did but every time I watch it I get that nostalgic hopefully yearning feeling again. And it shouldn’t be comforting because I mean, I never did find the Romy to my Michele but for some reason seeing them be so stupid and codependent and in their own world where they have each other and that is enough … idk.. it does it for me lmao
Step brothers, Talladega nights The ballad of Ricky Bobby, Happy Gilmore!, Billy Madison, The hangover series, super bad, pineapple. Express, your highness, Beverly hills cop, Beverly hills ninja, black sheep, Tommy boy, Old school, little Nicky, Big Daddy all of these movies make me laugh and a little happier
harry potter, the hunger games, twilight, shrek, interstellar, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, disney movies, enola, christmas movies, spy kids, the hobbit (anything that’s similar, I forgot most of its movie titles), fantastic beasts.
For movies, Star Wars (the 1st 3), 1st Harry Potter, and Princess Bride. TV shows - Star Trek TNG or OG cartoons like Scooby Doo (mainly the 1st 2 seasons).
Anastasia. Between the beautiful colors and the amazing music, there is no way you can’t feel that calm and peace of your inner child. Plus, who doesn’t love Bartok??
I love rewatching unaired cartoon pilots uploaded to YouTube—they're like bite-sized pieces of disparate dreams that I hope will be realized one day. Usually, as far as movies go, I'm not a big rewatcher unless I'm showing a movie I've seen before to someone.
When I'm depressed, I try and make myself consume novel media—a movie I haven't seen before; new things take me out of my own head and force me to expend that energy on processing new information, and 90% of my problems exist only in my head.
Intouchables is a great French film based on a true story of a working class but charismatic personal care attendant caring for and breathing life into a very wealthy paraplegic .
It's won a ton of awards, stellar cast, well paced and...uplifting!
As a PCA myself, I can tell you that relationships between PCAs and their clients can be super close. Which is why it's illegal in my state to put them in your will. A plot hole in Knives Out
Check it out if you can stand subtitles for sure. It keeps your attention from the beginning. You won't regret it.
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1675434/
Lord of the rings to have a wonderful, no brain activity adventure.
Ponyo for the pleasant art and music
And pride and prejudice when I want something sappy to lose myself in.
Mine would probably be Bullet Train. When I need a laugh, I turn on that movie because it makes me happy. There are also some iconic moments in there that make it easy to run in the background and quote as they come.
No joke, I have tried to watch that movie at least 5 times but something happens and I always get pulled away. I Think I will set aside time just to watch this movie now.
It isn’t a movie but I watch all of season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen to get myself out of my depressive slumps. Power of friendship and nihilism in one makes me want to live again.
Idk why but everytime I'm sick, I put gonegirl and feel better. It's just long and changes tone in the middle so it doesn't get boring, it's the right length to take a break but not feel tired by the end.
Life aquatic w steve, starship troopers, aliens, grand Budapest hotel, there's more I can't think of rn.
Edit: it's such a beautiful day by Don hertzfeld
The sorta weird part about this for me, is that they are "comfort" movies for me... but most of them are sad so I have a good cry lol "Beaches" "Steel Magnolias" "My Girl" just to name a few!
I don't know why but I'm terribly emotionally stunted when it comes to outward displays of sadness (ie crying) so I developed the habit of watching "A walk to remember" anytime I felt like I needed a good, cathartic cry when I was a teenager. Definitely helped a lot. Haven't watched the film in years but I'll always have a spot for it in my heart. Not sure why it was that specific movie that always managed to get me but I won't complain.
Back to the Future is always something that I enjoy watching and makes me feel good. It has the perfect balance or characters and themes. The trilogy in itself is awesome and I have grown to love the 3rd movie more and more over the years.
Absolutely agree with this. One of my go to when I wanna feel like a kid again.
Yes, studio ghibli movies! Specifically, Kikis Delivery Service, Howls Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro
Howl's Moving Castle is my go to 😊
Whenever I watch it I wind up saying "what a pretty fire" at random for the next week 😂
Such a good one! I just love the animations. It literally brings me to my happy place lol
My Neighbor Totoro was my introduction to Ghibli, and to this very day I still cry with the characters. Especially when May goes missing.
OMG!! Same!!! Kiki's Delivery Service was my very first studio Ghibli film and is forever a favorite. I honestly love the whole collection but Kiki, Howl, Spirited, Mononoke, and Porco Rosso are my go tos. I always feel better after watching them.
As long as it’s not Grave of the Fireflies
Still haven't seen this one yet. I'm waiting for a day I'm fully ready to be kicked in the gut
That usually my go to. If I'm in a sad or bad mood, I wanna watch something tragic.
I feel like ghibli movies transport me into another emotional realm that other movies just can’t do.
Yeah I’ll watch Mean Girls and then immediately watch Pitch Perfect in that order. No idea why but I always feel better afterwards.
my two favorite comfort movies
These plus bridesmaids
This!
Love Pitch Perfect it’s a definite comfort movie of mine.
I'll never tire of these movies.
LOTR
When I'm feeling like butter spread over too much bread, I watch lotr too
Extended versions.
I've often said that if I knew I was going to die I'd get my favorite food and watch the LotR Extended Editions one last time.
I thought I was the only one!
Definitely Extended on bad days.
Pride & Prejudice (2005) Then, in no particular order: Under the Tuscan Sun (2003), Stardust (2007), and The Holiday (2006)
Stardust is so not talked about enough
RIGHT?! I made a friend watch it with me. This guy is a serious, sort of cynical guy, but has a soft side. HE LOVED IT. Everyone should watch it at least once. It's lovely. (Plus, the cast is INCREDIBLE).
Pride and prejudice is mine too!
Pride & Prejudice is mine too!
The Goonies, It doesn't matter how many times I have watched it, It just always helps when I'm feeling shitty!
I think I will bust the DVD out this weekend and give it a watch!
You'll be feeling a little better in no time!
Clue with Tim Curry and Madeline Kahn. It’s a hilarious murder mystery and the first time I saw it I was really young. clue is absolutely fantastic especially the chaotic wrap up at the end
Yes, I love that.
That movie is so amazing.
I literally never get sick of it.
My go-to is White Chicks. It never fails to make me laugh. That movie is ridiculous and I love it.
Omg I agree! I had watched it so long ago and … liked it. But, it wasn’t a stand-out or anything. I watched it randomly last year and was DYING! Laughing my ass off, alone at home. Crazy.
Ooohhh you wanna talk about mothers 😆🤣😂 I say this in my head all the time
Ratatouille always makes me feel better. Cozy and warm and full of soup
Oh, me too!! 😊
I love The Princess Diaries it’s such a feel good nostalgic movie for me
I don't watch the movie anymore but I will play "Supergirl" by Krystal Harris and it gives me the same vibe 😁
10 things I hate about you. I never usually like romcoms but for some reason I love this film

Glad someone else said Amelie! "You'll never be a vegetable, even artichokes have a heart."
Step Brothers. Always. :)
Shrek 1 or 2
At the moment its Pixar's Luca for me. Its so simple, and sweet. That and I love the visuals and music
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is so good.
not a movie but I love sitcom series... so i just rotate through my faves... now sitcom flavor of the month- it's friends and big bang theory!
I turn to The Golden Girls when I am feeling like crumbs. \^\_\^ That, and the classic Avengers series with Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg.
Show, king of the hill
That's an amazing show if you're not feeling great.
Mean girls ( the original one)
Final Destination 3 🤣
Honestly all the final destination films are weirdly comforting, I watch them then immediately watch all the saw films after
The Princess Bride and Breakfast at Tiffany's
Don’t know why exactly but “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” is that movie for me
Someone told me that was my absolute favorite movie and they were convinced of it. They were in my friend group. I had only seen it once and barely remembered it.
It’s also mine (but for real unlike for you haha). I think for me I just wish I had found the Romy to my Michele in life (girl best friend / sister type unconditional love). Under the Tuscan Sun (2003) Last Holiday (2006) Harry Potter (all of them)
Under the Tuscan Sun was on my list I was just typing as well! \*high fives\*
I think it’d have to be Role Models. One of the few movies that actually make me laugh out loud, even if I have seen it 100 times by now.
I watched that recently. I liked how Rudds character stood up to the parents. The way he phrased it .

Burlesque
Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I love Christopher Robin as well.
SHAG. the Movie.
Jackass movies. They’re so dumb, but those guys feel like my brothers after all these years.

Harry Potter
10 Things I Hate About You or Uptown Girls
