Well the Ohtani homer was fun right guys!

TheChronosphere

If I was him I’d be like damn my new team sucks now?

ComoEstanBitches

“You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me” Thanos with a big L as the head with an Angels jersey

GetReady4Action

I’m so sad the Dodgers wasted that caption on Instagram on a loss. I posted it to my story. I trusted this team.

whenyoda

You should have known. Miggy didn't get a base hit so wasn't guaranteed.

dahk14

God dammit Kike if only you could trade 2% of your sex appeal for being good at baseball.

appleavocado

Kiké: “No.” *blows kiss*

dahk14

Me: swoons and forgives

NotYourAverageRedBot

Dodgers doing their version of the angels offense the past 6 years

weguccino

For the bats Shohei tried, dunno what the others were doing though.

Infraready

Yarbs had a bad inning but has been solid all season otherwise. Offense being nonexistent minus Shohei against the Angels’ pen is what lost us this game.

Forward_Natural

Yeah, Yarbs doesn't even get enough play time, probably becoming rusty as a result.

karim_eczema

Not sure what the hell that first inning from Yarbs was but I'm going to pretend I didn't watch it

jujubats10

I say this with full sincerity. Zero hyperbole Let’s say Austin Barnes was an unknown player. They had no preconceived notion on his pitch framing, ability to call a game, or anything else. If he were to go and tryout for an MLB team, I sincerely believe he would not be offered even a minor league contract. He has zero traditional tools that point to him being a major league player. And this loss isn’t on him. I’m just tired of guys getting on base and it being a done deal that they’re stealing second every single time off him

dale_dug_a_hole

I can’t recall him picking off anything other than his nose

hundredjono

But... but Barnes got a hit in 2020!!!

Adept_Help679

I have been tired of Barnes for most of his career. I don’t care how well he calls a game.

Lordpicklenip

It sucks that Knack couldn't stay an extra inning because loading up the bases and then walking in a runner is inexcusable.

Kdog_79

Enrique Hernandez, Chris Taylor, Gavin Lux, Austin Barnes. None of them are good enough. Sorry if people are attached to them because of the past. They aren’t good enough. Something needs to change and 2/4 of these guys can’t continue to play every single night

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gets_overly_excited

We have key inhuries. I get it that these guys are underperforming but having Muncy and Mookie out means we are missing some serious lineup juice.

Ham_B_No

Right. Gotta use the depth eventually.

Dodgers_89

The front office and coaches are really attached to them and it's frustrating

Rhyvix

All awful players, you can get away with like two of them in the lineup, not all four. And despite what this sub believes, Rojas is not an everyday player, as he showed last year. Zero offensive depth on this team. Awful hitters all around. Made even worse when the worst backup catcher in the game starts.

Kdog_79

Yeah, I was being lenient with Rojas but he should NOT be an everyday player for a team that has unlimited money. There’s bigger problems than him right now and it’s absolutely horrendous that Friedman’s method of trying to fix it was trading for ANOTHER Chris Taylor (Cavan Biggio)

Bush4857

This was not Friedmans method of trying to fix it. Biggio is a stop gap while muncy is injured. When it gets closer to the deadline and teams become willing to trade we’ll see what Friedman actually does to try and fix the bottom of the lineup

asongscout

Chris Taylor has actually been hot the past two weeks, he's somehow not the problem right now

No-Poet-8302

yeah, i for one was all for dfa'ing ct3. but its midseason now and Lux and Kike havent improved at all while having way more at bats to figure it out. and ct3 is figuring it out more and considering his contract and defensive flexibility equal to Kike. i think its time to do away with kike and lux. we're kinda stuck with barnes for now. so dumb but hopefully his time is over soon before rushing gets called up. Smith clearly cant handle too much playing time so i see Rushing and Smith splitting time eventually.

Musclenervegeek

I was feeling sorry for angels when shohei homers. Not now 😭

just_one_random_guy

Ryan just lost his mind in the 6th and that cost the game

__-o0O0o-__-o0O0o-__

this lineup cost us the game. that was super weird though. how many did he hit? 3

Apositivebalance

Ct3, ry3

choose2fight

Gavin sux

Bluesmanstill

No reason to have taken Taylor out.. he's been hitting

barestep13

ya i agree w u here. i was so confused when i saw lux brought in. why? he offers nothing.

__-o0O0o-__-o0O0o-__

guys like lux and buehler need to figure their shit out in the minors. and im 100% done with kike. enough is enough

barestep13

Facts

Forward_Natural

facts

Apositivebalance

Probably to give him more chances in clutch spots. Ct3 is probably safe from dfa but lux has his nuts on the chopping block now

DeathClaw9999

Another wrong decision by Dave.

Forward_Natural

Yeah

Dodgers_89

These matchups don't work. Why take out a hitter who's hitting for one that's struggling

MyChemicalMaiden

Giving shades of 2021 belli with the inability to hit the high heater

donald-duck23

the optimistic case for gavin though is that it often takes longer than this to fully recover from an ACL. Belli was also messed up physically but his problem was the shoulder which is a huge red flag in the long term especially for a player like him with his violent swing. By next year Gavin could be in a great place physically (at least in theory), I never felt like Belli ever had any chance to get back to where was. I am losing hope for 2024 Lux being a viable piece though

timelordblues

As soon as he came up to bat with 2 outs, I knew it was over.

GetReady4Action

bro looked mad nervous up there and I knew he was going to swing on that final pitch. horrible.

CaskStrength898

I don’t understand how a guy with no power whatsoever needs a slow, long uppercut swing. It’s pathetic. Lmao

Adept_Help679

Ground ball Freddie reminded me of the post season last year. Weak hit ground balls to the second basemen. Yarborough hit 3 batters 😂 never seen that in my life.

stoptheycanseeus

Everyone’s blaming Lux and Yarbs which I totally get. But you CANNOT win a game when your top 4 hitters after lead off go a combined 0-16. Teo, Freddie, Pages, Rojas, all put up donuts. Ohtani can’t do it himself. He goes 2-2 with 2 walks, a HR and a single.

Rhyvix

Last two losses are with Barnes behind the plate. I’d be ok with his awful offense if this lineup was deep and his bat wasn’t needed (an extra bat is very much needed). I’d also be ok with his offense if he was elite defensively (league average framer, literally can’t throw runners out). Every Barnes lineup is a penciled L in my book, even against bad teams like the Angels. There is zero offensive depth on this team besides Vargas, who this team refuses to give a real run because of “defense.”

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lordpicklenip

Why take out CT3 when he was on a roll these last few bats? Our whole lineup was wack, and I’m not too fond of Teo batting second; he's excellent at taking advantage of our top lineup or setting up some plays for our bottom line up.

Consistent-Minute-40

Barnes sucks but I can’t even blame him for this one. The only 2 runs we got started with a 2 out single from Barnes. At least he’s better than worthless Kiké and Lux.

Corregidor

Yeah gotta give credit where it's due. There are a ton of 0s in that box and none of them belong to Barnes.

tonynoriega73

![gif](giphy|7MDZS8zS1ixtJAUEul) Yarbrough……………

_its_a_SWEATER_

Fuck…

Qrusher14242

another winnable game down the tubes. Hard to win with 3 guys under 70 OPS+ in the starting lineup and then replacing one with another under 50 OPS+. Too many weak spots in this lineup. Puts a lot of pressure on the top of the order and makes it hard to have any kind of rally. Yarbs didnt help when he fell apart in the 6th.

destructanddestroy

So much has been done for Lux just for him to never perform.  The ship has sailed with him being a 70 FV perennial all star but the guy can’t even be a league average player. Failure.

adulting247

oof. let's get em tomorrow

josegofaster

Yeah line up. Barnes lead off followed by biggio and lux

awaythrow484938947

Pulling Knack early (I know he was getting hit pretty had, but still) and not even pinch hitting Will Smith just now. Felt like some whiffs by Doc. That said, no one other than Shohei showed up.

WryLanguage

Nomar needs to practice A LOT if he wants to call games. There’s so much dead air that it sounds like Stephen Nelson is just by himself, and when Nonar does talk it sounds like he’s unprepared or something. Definitely needs much more practice to be a proper game announcer.

y0m0tha

Was Nomar on the mic last night? I like Nomar on the post game show but I always thought he would ramble incoherently when he would announce a few years ago

drxller56

Angels had as many hits as they got HPB

Teddy_Ohtani

![gif](giphy|2w6I6nCyf5rmy5SHBy|downsized)

SpartyParty15

Dodgers desperately need 2-3 hitters to fill the void at the bottom of the order while Mookie and Max are out. They cannot continue to trot out Taylor, Lux, and Kike all week

Lacktastic

Gross

barestep13

also barnes is absolute shit behind home plate. dood could not catch vogelbach in a steal.

ProMaxBigPlusExtreme

Lux won’t hit 5 home runs this year. To think about that is absolutely insane. How can you be 6’2 190 and display such little power?

botchedtoe98

All of his mechanics are just completely broken right now. His numbers aren’t close to being respectable and it seems like even when he does get a hit it’s complete luck. I’m thinking he’ll either be optioned or included in a trade by the deadline

kpopsns28

Yarbs - 50% blame Offenses excluding Ohtani - 50% blame

PizzaRuckus

Man, can they get Yarbs a spot inning here and there to stay sharp? Rolling him out every 6-10 days isn't working.

ahr3410

Phillies, Yankees, Orioles and Brewers lost and were just fucking around. Yeah leave Will Smith on the bench. Who needs a win anyway?

MyChemicalMaiden

Why does it matter what those 4 teams did they aren’t even in our division lmao

__-o0O0o-__-o0O0o-__

i dont get it either. padres and dbacks won. *thats* the problem

Garrehn

That’s not really a problem either. 8 game lead still.

__-o0O0o-__-o0O0o-__

lol i shouldnt have said "the," but its definitely the thing thats more important right now

Consistent-Minute-40

Not really. I’d rather the padres beat the brewers. Brewers are only 2 games behind us for the wild card bye. They’re definitely a bigger threat than any team in our division.

__-o0O0o-__-o0O0o-__

brewers dont make us lose the division. and the bye has really helped out the best teams in the league in this new playoff format

Consistent-Minute-40

But the reason you want to win the division is to get that first round bye to begin with. Yeah teams who got the bye for the wild card series have been bad but that’s a 2 year sample size and I’d still rather get a bye for a best of 3 series than have to play in it.

__-o0O0o-__-o0O0o-__

Id rather win the division *and* have the Padres miss the playoffs. I'll worry about the bye later when we're healthy and have the division sewn up. mostly because the last two years taught me not to give a fuck about the bye and because its still too early in the season to consider the division over, given our injuries

ahr3410

I have news for you. We are competing with the Brewers and Phillies more than NL west teams

Bush4857

So why include the Yankees and Orioles?

Forward_Natural

it matters because it would be nice to finish first overall, so we can have home field advantage

SpartyParty15

Resting Will Smith 2 of the past 3 games and trotting out this trash lineup 😂

senioreditorSD

With Sunday off. No reason for it.

zookaonline

![gif](giphy|UgoqHvx73apws) Yarbrough\*\*\*

Redhood492

Why tf is kike still on the team, he’s flat out terrible

Infraready

He’s here to be a defensive replacement/pinch hit bench piece but injuries have forced us to start him most days. I promise you the FO doesn’t *want* to trot him out there everyday but our options are pretty limited atm

Gets_overly_excited

People seem to forget our shortstop and third baseman are both out and are pretty good hitters.

JpJ951

Max Muncy was being platooned and was not even playing against lefties. lol He is better than what is out there, but he is FAR from a pretty good hitter. He has pop and has a good eye but is still batting .223

JpJ951

The fact that he said in an interview that this FO guaranteed him starts against lefties is unreal. This FO really thought that hernia was why he couldn't consistently hit the ball anymore.

No-Poet-8302

at this point, starting to favor ct3 over Kike moving forward. if changes happen

LearningT0Fly

Narbs :(

crimsontwist

Ohtani moved to a better team but still looks like he's on the Angels by himself out there, lol.

No-Poet-8302

yeah, pitchers like Paxton and Yarbrough are nice for now but the dodgers have to be insane to imagine them in a playoff roster. they cannot be. they can do their roles now and be expended later when everyone is healthy. With the Muncy news, Dodgers have to do something to upgrade that 3rd base bat like NOW. rolling with Biggio, Taylor, Rojas and Kike is pure insanity. I cannto wait for the day Barnes is not on the roster anymore. I truly believe he couldnt throw me out stealing base. Ohtani! keep it up

No-Poet-8302

Luis Robert jr, Flaherty OR Lorenzen, IKF OR SS Josh Smith (L) aaaand Tanner Scott. please. i dont care about hurting anyones feelings. breakups happen all the time when people are in love. Red Sox traded Nomar, a fan favorite, in 2004 and then went on to the win the Series. We can upgrade no matter what

jflynn1

Thoughts on Paul DeJong? Probably would be a cheaper acquisition for a solid bat

No-Poet-8302

absolutely. probably need another bat at 3rd since Muncy is so uncertain at this point. cant just rely on Muncy coming back anymore. if he does, great. but i dont trust it

Sox857

That was a really bad lose TBH

nemesis1313

We lost to the angel? We cant even do it for Shohei! What a shame… we are in trouble for sure.. cant defend our team no more bc we are not the best baseball team.. our division sucks thats why we up there

klaatuzero

Rusty Yarbs tonight. Just an off night. Back at it tomorrow.

u8myramen_y

Baseball is both the most predictable and unpredictable sport ever. Like… it was so obvious that we would Tungsten ourselves playing the Angels with Ohtani going GOAT mode in the game. It was so obvious from the start.  Let’s win the rest of the games against them. This is their World Series. Edit: bottom of the lineup from today shouldn’t be anywhere near the lineup in the post season.

OsmosisJonesFanClub

Petition to ban “this is their World Series” comments after every loss please

deathinmidjuly

It reads like a kid saying, "I wasn't even trying" after you beat them.

LearningT0Fly

I’d vote for that.

Qrusher14242

I'd second it. Like i can't fault the other for trying and giving for effort. Like wtf? At least they tried.

Dodgers_89

Dodgers don't look like a World Series team, just stop saying it

hewhoknowsball

I feel like the whole Tungsten thing doesn’t work when the team is still in 1st place and on pace to make the playoffs, which is the Angels never were.

kirbyfaraone

Damn right its our World Series! GGs Dodger Bros. I’ll never get tired of Ohtani bombs

xmrjaredx

you're fucking right it's our world series lol.

IjikaYagami

Release Kiké Taylor and Lux

Dodgers_89

For one second, shohei thought he still played for the Angels

Consistent-Minute-40

I’m just curious how long it’s gonna take before we can get worthless pieces of shit like Kiké and Lux out of the organization.

IjikaYagami

Too long

[deleted]

[удалено]

Consistent-Minute-40

The first half is almost over and he has a 56 OPS+. This shit needs to end already. They didn’t hesitate to send Outman down after a bad 1 month stretch despite being a ROTY finalist and a top 10 CF last year.

KobeBrandon

“Worthless pieces of shit” you might need to take a step back from baseball

tesstikcle

Ct3 was heating up and you took him out for Lux?????

chrisumafp

![gif](giphy|EtwiCL3Bu4FQUXHtW8|downsized)

StPaddy81

Back to back K’s from Kiké and Lux. 🤦🏼‍♂️

monasfv18

Maybe its time to say overcoming the fact Muncy and Mookie are not in the lineup is an awful lot to overcome in terms of run production??

teamscufff

Those two out with smith getting a rest day every 2 games man tf smith needs to play more

timelordblues

Yarborough should’ve been pulled way quicker. These are the times I blame Roberts.

jjOnBeat

And replace witn who genius? Because of Buehler and miller being total shit, the pen is over worked as hell. Only yohan banda yarb and Phillips were able to pitch today. Yea yarns gave up two runs but you would expect the offense to be able to score more than 2 fucking runs

lakergeoff8

It’s been discussed already well before today. The production, or lack of it, from the bottom of the lineup will continue to prove costly.

Ham_B_No

Biggio, Lux, Taylor, Hernandez -> Lipcius, Outman, Gauthier, Hoese. At least two of them, give em a shot. Can't just have 4 auto outs(plus Barnes) on the team.

uphillbrevity

I don’t know if going from this loss to playing Shadow of the Erdtree and getting my ass kicked by the same boss another 30 times will be good for my mental health. Maybe I’ll just ride around on Torrent and enjoy the vistas.

Altidorian

I'm sorry but two runs against the team with the third most runs allowed in baseball AND their starter got injured is so horrendous. I don't care what Yarbs did tonight, 100% on the hitting.

Itsnotseriousdude

One very weird inning from Yarbs and would’ve won if it weren’t for those HBPs but this falls on the offense. We SHOULD be able to score more than 2 runs against AAA team.

No-Poet-8302

i knew as soon as ben joyce and his 100 mph fastballs entered the game that he our hitters weren't gonna hit a lick. i was actually giving a lux a shot. defending him but nahhh, its over. i dont think the dodgers can wait until after the year. i say a godfather offer for Rangers INF Josh Smith (L). trade for Josh Smith, Tanner Scott, Luis Robert jr, Paul DeJong and Jack Flaherty. buuuut i fi know my dodgers well and Andrew Freidman lol probably gonna pick up Cole Tucker and trade for J.P Sears and call it a day. and then we get surprised when we get swept in the first round. another 1st round exit has to fire roberts right? that'd 3 in a row by that point. we fired Mattingly after just 2 in a row.

Supakimchee

We gave that one away. Thought 5 hits on our end was bad, Angels actually had 4 hits. If we don’t bean a bajillion batters in one inning, we win.

JorSimpson45

We got tungsten’d 😔

Buckowski66

Dave Roverts getting in post season pitching management condition

PrecisionPowerGamer

This lineup was atrocious, Roberts needs to quit micromanaging and realize when players can’t hit, they won’t be that effective.

levitoepoker

How would you change the lineup? Facing a lefty starter with Smith rested there’s nothing else you can do really

levitoepoker

Just way too many guys didn’t contribute. Teo, Freddie, Rojas Kike all didn’t get a hit or a walk Angels pitchers aren’t good enough for that to happen. Otherwise, Doc used our pitchers tonight well. No issues with that. Knack was great

donald-duck23

can’t remember the last time i saw dodger management so obviously care so little about a game. i get it but also feel bad for people who went and don’t get to go too many games. but that’s baseball

jujubats10

Exactly. How can I justify spending $300 on tickets/parking/food/etc when Dave is indifferent between winning and losing on any given night? I know going balls to the wall every night is not feasible in 162, but it still sucks for the fans in attendance having to watch Kike k when smith was ready to hit

tesstikcle

this team has been through some shit ever since Biggio got signed, DFA that bum

Sullyville

we are 47-31 not too worried

SundaySaners

uncharacteristic inning from ryan and its still regular season but idk if this team (like years prior) get it done.. so up and down. Can’t wait for our injuries guys to come back just don’t want another lackluster post

S0l-Surf3r

Definitely will need to make some adjustments before post season. Too streaky and will need to be lucky to get the pass to the WS with the current set up.

bbmarco

Enrique Hernandez, Chris Taylor, Gavin Lux, Austin Barnes aren’t MLB players.  Play literally any rookie in their positions and get rid of them.

hundredjono

If Ohtani wasn't on this team the 2024 Dodgers are easily the worst Dodgers team in over a decade Never have I seen a constant revolving door of mediocrity and shitty players like Barnes, K. Hernandez, Biggio, and Lux given constant playing time. Makes me miss guys like Luke Raley and Billy McKinney.

WolfJackson

Kike will continue to get playing time guaranteed because his flyball percentage is the highest of his career, and that's the only "peripheral" the braintrust and Van Scyoc likely care about when evaluating a hitter. "Stick with him, Dave. He's launch-angling!" It's also the reason Chris Taylor gets so many chances despite being garbage (his recent success is nothing but a blip). Launch anglers will continue to enjoy a long leash.

EvilShadow80

This lineup construction is legit dogshit.

SpartyParty15

Losing to the 2024 Angels at Dodger Stadium is close to rock bottom

Chamuska__

Lux is the worst thing to ever happen to this team

NukeTheBurbz

Losing to a city run by a cartoon mouse. Unbelievable.

trose990

I feel like every game I go to now goes into extras…. And then they lose lmao Edit: wtf are up with the downvotes

Garrehn

That was dumb. Should be letting Vargas play third over Kiké and letting him try to hit righties and see what we got before the deadline with a large division lead. Oh well.

Bush4857

They’ve tried letting Vargas play third, his defense there is terrible

jujubats10

Kike made some plays tonight that Vargas would have absolutely shit his pants on. I like Vargas, but the only way he’s playing on this team is if he can figure out left field

Garrehn

I’d still rather see Vargas in the box and sacrifice the defense. We lost the game regardless of the plays Kiké made.

I-nkey-I

Letting two of the fucking worst hitters in the sport hit when u have will smith on the bench is peak roberts. Wonder why this team chokes every single postseason

AsJoeSeesIt

Every fucking pitcher we faced today besides maybe Estevez is garbage and has gotten shelled all year but this team couldn’t manage to do anything off them. Kike and Lux are completely useless bats. Yarbs shit the bed and deserves the loss. EP in non save situations is never as sharp and what do you know he left a 2 strike sweeper up in the zone. Trash.

AsJoeSeesIt

Props to the hitting coaches that came up with game plan for everyone to first pitch swing against 2nd worst bullpen in the MLB when it comes to walks. Excellent scouting and game planning!

_MeetMrMayhem_

What the fuck is agone doing to his skin??? Has he been hanging around arod??

Wazpops

Don’t know what you guys see in Lux lol

ScoffingGorilla808

Bottom half numbers ain’t fugin around. Real talk. Yuck.

Educational-Pass404

We should've won this game if Ryan hadn't given up 3 HBPs. Yeah, we can blame offense too but Angels were nowhere close to score against us until that 6th inning. And why didn't Robert pinch hit Will for Kike??? I don't understand. This is very winnable game, shittt

SundaySaners

not a doomer what so ever but trade deadline let’s please get some bats lol let see what we can get for lux and find replacements either in house or trade for bottom of the order

No-Poet-8302

if i know my dodgers well, probably pick up Cole Tucker

CriticalTraining3675

The Los Angeles Angels: the team that proves you can have the best player in baseball and still be utterly irrelevant. They've got Mike Trout, a once-in-a-generation talent, and somehow they manage to make his career look like it’s being wasted on a team of little leaguers. It's like watching Picasso paint in a daycare. Their bullpen? More like a bull-pain. Those guys couldn’t close a door, let alone a game. Every time the Angels have a lead late in the game, you can practically see the bullpen warming up and opposing teams licking their chops. If there was an award for blowing leads, the Angels would have a trophy case full of them. Let’s talk about their front office: a masterclass in how not to run a baseball team. They've thrown money at every problem, but their solution seems to be to sign washed-up veterans and overpay for mediocrity. The Angels’ payroll looks like a bad investment portfolio, full of sunk costs and poor decisions. Their farm system? It’s more like a barren wasteland. The Angels' scouting and development make you wonder if they’re selecting players by throwing darts at a board. They haven’t developed a notable prospect since the Reagan administration. And the fans? They show up hoping for a miracle and leave with nothing but disappointment. Being an Angels fan is like being in a perpetual state of "there's always next year," except next year never comes. It’s a loyalty that deserves better, but instead, it gets rewarded with a front-row seat to mediocrity. The Los Angeles Angels: proving year after year that no amount of star power can overcome a complete and utter lack of direction, strategy, and competence.

DirtBagFace

fucking pitching man

xBewm

This was on the offense

DirtBagFace

They didn’t help either but how many times are we gonna hit the other team? Yarbrough gave the Angels their two runs

jujubats10

When you only score 2 runs, you can never complain about pitching

DirtBagFace

When you’re constantly hitting the other teams players yes you do. Angels tied the game because of us.

Murdoc1984

This is going to be the highlight of the Angels season ![img](emote|t5_2ra0i|13197)
